That's 150 mls per day.. which is less than I've been eating daily for decades.. along with between 4 and 8 local farm fresh eggs per day, for approximately the last 30 years with almost perfect consistency. I'm 50 years old and in almost perfect shape, my blood work comes back perfect according to my "doctor" who is an arrogant fool and a tool for big Pharma. I keep the idiot around for lab requisitions etc. This "family doctor" got his two young children vaxxed and keeps them right up to date on MRNA boosters. My good friend over heard him telling the other doctor at the clinic that any parent who doesn't get their kids triple boosted should be arrested and put in a camp, and have the kids taken from them by social services. Anyway, my point is that these these doctors and their advice for health is almost always advice that will destroy your health.. listen to your gut and don't be fooled.

It should but it will bankrupt the food industry and ruin the idea to make us stop eating meat. The truth is plants and chemicals in food make a lot of profits. Imagine everyone eating fresh meat and animal products(diary, eggs, etc) plus some vegetables and fruit during season. Imagine people could eat 1 or 2 times a day only a steak in the summer with some salad. How is it compared to selling people kilos of cheap to produce vegetables, chips, waffles, seed oils, etc every day? On carbs every 4 hours blood sugar drops and makes you feel hungry no matter how much you have eaten. Also instead of 20 products in supermarkets now the industry sells thousands. Lets also add the other big business- pharma. People buy tons of supplements to get what they would get from animal products. So, yes, they should but they never will.

My dad used to eat butter like it was cheese. He would get the butter, crackers and a knife and cut squares and put them on the cracker. He could eat a whole stick in one sitting. He was thin, healthy and never had high cholesterol or anything "they" would say he was causing. He also had great skin - people would take him for someone 20 years younger all the time. I'm not sure it was the butter, but it certainly didn't hurt.

Your explanation that our body has to use glucose first instead of fat because too much glucose will be dangerous to the body makes sooo much sense! The root of all problems are not carbs (especially physiologically appropriate carbs like fruit, fruit juices, some roots, honey, maple syrup and even sucrose, i.e. glucose+fructose without antinutrients and too much fiber). The problem is decades of PUFAs consumption which are not only toxic, estrogenic, carcinogenic, degenerative..., but also pro-diabetic. They are released to blood stream from fat tissue (where they are stored due to consumption) and block glucose entering to cell, while also damaging cells.

It is humsn phydiology based on independent science (unlike many so called fumctional doctors and "alternative" people). Crazy are LC and keto people who choose to run on body's short term survival mechanism and long term cancer and degenerative metabolism. They also eat too much PUFAs, cause they don't understand the fatal effect of omega-3 no matter in which sources they are present.

The range that is used in blood test results are not scientifically deduced. They are simply an average of a number of people's results which is why the range can change over time. As more people get worse results the range will change according to that. So basically the range is not what is "best" it is just an average.

I went low carb just about 14 years ago. My husband had 3 strokes and we found out he was diabetic. I put him on the Adventist influence diet they gave me at the hospital. Every 3 weeks, he had bloodwork. Always worse, as was he. This went on for 8 months. It hit me that the so called healthy diet that had failed me for decades was failing him. I read Good Calories, Bad Calories and watched The Oiling of America. Switched us both to the old 1950s British diet in the prologue. His next bloodwork improved. Kept getting better. Several months later a stranger understood him. Still doing great. I started at barely fitting a size 18. Lost 10 pounds the first 2 weeks. I also craved butter. Lots of butter. And as I was losing weight I let myself eat all the butter I wanted. Over a pound a week easy. Now when I was 42 an exray showed degenerative bone disease in my right foot. I was told by 57 I would be in a wheelchair. Nothing they could for it. I started the low carb diet and the butter cravings at 52. Before that I was starving myself fat and sick on 1200 low fat, high fibre calories a day for decades. Every step for years had been painful and I had a job where I would get 70 thousand steps a day. Pain was normal in my life. About 4 months in my butter cravings finally slowed down. I was walking down the stairs and it suddenly hit me that my foot was not hurting. I found out years later that butter if full of things you need for healthy bones. I am now 65 and I can hop on that foot. Butter heals.

I always have to mention my grandparents who ate LOADS (I mean loads...) of butter, eggs, bacon, meat at every meal, and drank wine. Grandma used LARD (real animal lard, not Crisco!!) for everything - cakes, pie crusts, frying fish and chicken. They ate TONS of cheese and olives and saved all their bacon grease and used that to fry their ham & eggs and make french toast. They NEVER cut the skin or fat off their meat or poultry and loved eating the crispy skin of chicken or turkey. Neither of them ever did any exercise other than the daily gardening, house cleaning, or occasional walk around the block to see the neighbors. They were both very healthy and independent and lived into their 100's (grandma 106). My great-grandfather ate the same way and died at 99 slipping on icy steps taking out his garbage after an ice storm. - who knows how long he would have lived if he didn't have the accident. I don't believe ANYTHING the mainstream medical establishment tells me - as a matter of fact, if they tell me it's bad for me, I run right out and add it to my intake. If they tell me something is healthy, I avoid it like the plague.

I eat A LOT grass fed butter, the same brand as you plus an average of one cup of whipped cream daily ( I make it with stevia not cane sugar❤). I cut my cholesterol meds in half and now my lipid panels are all good. I am old and when I was in high school there may have been one or two obese individuals, we were all what is now considered thin BUT this was before high fructose corn syrup got added to all processed foods and diabetes became so common. I’m getting a fairly late start to fixing my diet but for the last couple years I have eliminated eating what is commonly eaten and my bone scans are good my arteries are clear and except for fibromyalgia pain have no physical complaints

Thanks for the butter tip regarding freezing. I have only bought KG butter for many years now and it is a joy to eat. VERY Small amount of carbs even less sugar AND at 80yrs old in 3 Weeks, I feel more like a teenager than a geriatric! While living in Canada for a few years, 1970's, I noticed my husband's waistline beginning to noticeably expand as did mine. Had no idea why and I was pretty clued up on food groups and healthy eating, no amount of additional exercise or food intake reduction, helped. It was Pretty disheartening! Took Dr. Ekberg's informative site to realise the connection to the, then new, cooking oils, never looked back; The information regarding starches was useful too.

Wow! I am a Medical Laboratory Scientist and have been keto/ low carb for 2 years. My husband started keto/low carb 4 months ago after his A1c and fasting glucose entered the pre-diabetic range. After 4 months of eating this way, he returned to our doctor for bloodwork. His fasting blood sugar dropped 20 points to 81, A1c from 6.0 to 5.5, Triglycerides and liver enzymes to single digits and, even though his weight was never an issue, he dropped 20 pounds and 4 inches in his waist. On his Lipid studies, his HDL, total cholesterol and HDL all increased while his VLDL decreased. The nurse practitioner called to have him pick up a prescription for a statin. I told him that he would NOT be getting on a statin. We are both in our 70’s, no chronic illness, no medications. When he returns again in another 4 months, we’ll have a conversation with our doctor about WHY we made the decision to forego the statins. Your video was beautifully done and from my decades of laboratory experience I know you were spot on with your explanations. What I love the most is that you explained lipids in a way that anyone could understand. Thanks for a fantastic video.

I just wanted to see how I was doing and get some blood-panels, since I hadn‘t had any done in over 20 yrs. Well long story short, still going strong on Keto, didn‘t kick the bucket yet and don‘t even need a doctor - going on my 6th year eating Clean Keto. The only negative thing is, when I eat any carbs like rice or pasta or grains of any kind (on a „cheat“ day) which I‘ve only done a couple of times, I have a severe GI reaction, cramps, constipation. I suppose my body prefers Keto, so I‘ll just be happy I‘ve found my perfect way of staying healthy 🤓

My medical results have been troubling me for some time as my doctor made a pretty big fuss about my LDL levels and now I know I was worrying for nothing for 11 months. During this time, despite asking a few professionals, no one could tell me why or suggest a diet to balance these 2 metrics. This is a wake-up call that we have to interpret data as a whole and not just dwell on siloed metrics.

I love butter. Honestly, that is a less amount of butter as per my diet. I do eat slightly less butter now when I write this but it keeps changing depending on the activities I do on different days. As a college guy, I used to eat a 100gm slab with each meal on some days and was in good shape. I keep varying my diet as per my physical activities. The same is the case with most of the ground bodybuilders (not gym goers) in my state. Also, I would not recommend anyone eating too much of it as well, every person has their own mechanism apart from what is suitable to everybody in general. *Keep a check on your weight and physical activities and breathing capacity while jogging.* If you don't exercise, then you need to eat accordingly, and in much lesser quantity. And always eat healthy food with a good variety and exclude any processed junk item or minimize it and compensate with a little extra jogging(not aggressive exercising). From the bottom of my heart and in all humility, I wish each one of you good physical and emotional health. Please take care of yourself and maintain a good balance between diet, exercise, work and peace of mind.

I've experimented with the opposite. I dropped the fat nice and low and didn't give a monkeys how much sugar I ate. I didn't eat like I was trying to win a bet but didn't stop when still hungry to hit a target amount of calories. (I'm not sure about protein and also alcohol, whether it acts like a fat - eating lots but still hungry - or like a carbohydrate - full on less calories, I would be on the safe side and keep alcohol low or none) Logic was carb calories were filling and fat calories were not. I don't think I've ever been low carb though on a continuous basis, other than exercising away my carb stores and feeling a bit weak and jelly legged. Negative is have to drop fat REALLY low (under 10g a day) to lose any weight and it's slow. Positive is good mood and lots of energy. I have found that any food that is high in fat I have to stop eating when I'm still hungry or else I will gain weight. Sugar is more filling than I thought it would be. I feared I could eat endless quantities of it and rack up easy calories.

@TimpBizkit

@D Macarthur how low is your fat intake? It's easy to accidentally go too high with even a packet or 2 of crisps. I've made this mistake and stayed the same weight. 20 or 10g fat a day is ideal but it is easy to exceed 50, 60, 70g of eating at a friend's house with unknown oil content. I haven't gained but lucky to shift a pound every couple of months. It is like the body only wants to pick and nibble at small quantities of body fat and eat 95 percent carbohydrate. I haven't tried keto though have heard of negative side effects and fat doesn't fill me up at sensible calorie numbers. I have heard that carbohydrate fasting has an appetite suppressant effect but at what price I'm not sure. Sugar can have a lot of calories but they are usually balanced by the extended duration before hunger strikes again. Fat has even more calories but hunger strikes quickly so I would have to consciously ignore it and keep track of calories. It's like feeding a cat a bowl of dreamies. They will eventually overcalorie due to the high fat content and turn into garfield if left to their own devices. If you can ration them out and at calorie neutral they will be mewing at you for more (note I am not familiar with the carnivorous physiology so am unsure how carbohydrate relates to cat satiation and function, their regular food tends to be self limiting and the cat simply loses interest in food before a calorie surplus occurs). Also perhaps some people convert sugar and starch to fat more than others, and whether certain hormones in dairy influence this even if the milk or yogurt is skimmed. Weight gain for me is the usual unrestricted fatty carbohydrate foods. If there is one thing bad about sugar or artificial sweetener is it opens up another range of high calorie foods, and now with pizza you are enjoying scones with clotted cream and jam; cakes and doughnuts and ice cream. I have found fat calories the easiest to remove and the body doesn't try to trick me into eating more and moving less, whereas if I cut out sugar, or starch I just hunger for bigger portions. Stuffing my stomach with celery doesn't satiate if I'm after glucose. Eating fat to me feels like that unsatisfying celery but somehow it is high in calories.

I believe that I am a “lean-mass hyper-responder”, as defined by Dave Feldman. I am lean and fit, eat zero processed foods, drink zero alcohol, never smoked, and do resistance training and sprint intervals 2x/week. I work an active job. But all my doctor focused on was my LDL (277). Personally, I think I am probably healthier and lower risk than 99% of her patients (and her, for that matter). She told me to eat low-fat/low cholesterol diet. I have no plans to do that, but I have added in garlic, a little bit of arugula/avocado/sauerkraut, and if my skin can tolerate them, I will keep them. But I believe that I am eating a proper human diet, even though my doctor doesn’t agree. I need to find a doctor who will look at ALL of my blood markers instead of being hyper focused on just LDL!!

I get what the good Dr. Ekberg is saying here, and love the way he layers in the science. However, his conclusion that we ought to rethink saturated fats seems to apply only if you are following a keto or similar diet where fat intake approaches 70-80%, and carbs are

Dr. Sten, have you heard of Dr. Elizabeth Bright? She’s an endocrinologist who wrote a book called Good Fat is Good for Women. She suggests eating one stick of butter a day for optimal health. Many female Keto and Carnivore “gurus” are promoting this. I’m curious what your opinion is about that? I have been upping my fats with more butter lately and it is very satisfying.

I did the 30 day “no sugar challenge, still am really. I feel better and have lost weight. BUT I’m on a statin for high cholesterol. And my LDL went up. I’m almost completely off all processed foods also and am exercising regularly.

Is fat adapted something to consider? If so how long might it take?

Hi there! I stumbled into this video and I was amazed. I have excelled (put everything down on an excel sheet) my blood works from 1992 till OCT22 and excelled my weight during 2021 2022. During the pandemic (2020) I ate tons of bacon and literally lost weight. But as soon as we were allowed out and about, went back to the good carby foods. My cholesterol went way up to 300+. So instinctively I began a no crappy carbs diet and long fastings with my only one meal a day (4 eggs with broccoli, onions, garlic, peppers, and cheese) and 2022 will show I have lost weight and maintained it. I still eat chocolates but I have proven to my ALL PILLS doctor, that I can lower cholesterol with no statins. By the way, my triglicerols are very low despite still having wild cholesterol. LOVED your video.

Very well explained!!! Thank you 🙏, I started running four years in my low carb diet, keto With IF, I thought to test my heart to see if it is clogged after four years of high fat diet!! 😂, it’s been eight months now running, three times a week averaging 120 km a month and my heart is working fine, no heart attack! 😂🏃🏽‍♂️☕️🥚

There is no test for plaque. The coronary artery calcium score only shows calcium so your heart and arteries could very well be clogging. Get Apo b test.

@@HS99876 Keep in mind that heart damage happens on an S curcve. Could take a year or three to show up and it is not proven to be reversible definitively. Here is a meta analysis of dozens of studies on saturated fat. Saturated Fat Consumption and Risk of Coronary Heart Disease and Ischemic Stroke: A Science Update Authors Joyce A Nettleton , Ingeborg A Brouwer, Johanna M Geleijnse, Gerard Hornstra Higher intakes of SAFA were not associated with higher risks of CHD or stroke apparently, but studies did not take macronutrient replacement into account. Replacing SAFA by cis-polyunsaturated fatty acids was associated with significant CHD risk reduction, which was confirmed by randomized controlled trials. SAFA reduction had little direct effect on stroke risk. Cohort studies suggest that the food matrix and source of SAFA have important health effects.

Really nice and understandable break down doctor. Around 1980 I read a study that showed how people in South England had much healthier hearts than North England and the only major difference in diet was was the North used margin and the South it all about the butter.

What has surprised me with following Dr. Sten's advice to us all is that the skin cancer on my nose has almost disappeared. I knew cancer loves sugar but not this much. I'm deferring surgical excision because this would be Surgery Number Eleven and I'm more tired of the routine with every go-round for one or another of these dots. Maybe now things are stabilizing.
