I keep seeing this “what would Abbey add” and I cannot help but think this is itself a form of disorder. If you cannot complete a meal organically without a RU-vidr in your head - how is that any different from an ED voice? Just a thought.

@theprousteffect9717 Год назад
@@findingoctober9867 Anything could become an obsession, but some of us have had disordered eating for so long that we sometimes benefit from a knowledgeable, caring voice in our head to counter the eating disorder voice. I don't think the original commenter can't feed themselves without a voice in their head, but finds the reminders helpful. Not to mention, eating disorder voices usually involve depriving ourselves or treating ourselves badly, whereas Abbey's advice does not. These things are hardly the same.

@@theprousteffect9717 couldn't have replied better myself, thank you. Abbey I ADORE you and cannot thank you enough for making videos that don’t shame others and instead offer healthy, filling additions to the meals you review! I struggled on and off with anorexia for over half of my life with no help from family or friends. When I finally did reach out to a dietician, she sent me meal plans with a big header that said “WEIGHT LOSS” on them. It broke my heart because I was already severely underweight. I knew at that point that if I continued my disordered ways that I might not be here today. I love learning how to not only eat in a way that is beneficial for my body, but for my mental health too. I had a moment of bittersweet clarity last year where I had to admit that I did not understand how to eat without punishments or breakdowns. I always say that eating disorders are mental disorders with physical symptoms. YOU MADE ME REALIZE FOOD IS NOT THE ENEMY!!!

Abbey I just wanna say I am so thankful for your eating advice, especially the intuitive eating series. After 18 years of a restrictive ED I finally have begun to fully commit to "making peace with food," and it's magical (other than the uncomfortable amount of weight gain, though I have faith it will settle with time). I bought normally sweetened chocolate for the first time i can remember the other day... and it's just sitting in my cabinet, waiting for me to crave it. That is PROGRESS.

This is a tough one because Hailey is at a healthy BMI, while other models are not… so maybe direct an educational video towards other models who people may aspire to look like that are below their BMI… Also if she is at a healthy BMI and her diet consists of what she says it does sounds like she is an intuitive eater that knows when she is full and when she is hungry regardless of whether she has eggs in her oatmeal or not.

I remember as a teenager measuring out a cup of cereal in the morning with a half cup of milk…I tried to restrict my calorie intake so hard…I really thought I lacked self control by the end of the day when I got out the ice cream(now I know there is nothing “bad” about ice cream, but at the time it was a horrible cycle). But there is NOTHING more refreshing to hear you say that you need MORE food to feel full. It’s crazy how wildly you changed my whole perspective on eating. Instead of trying to chew gum or brush my teeth to distract me from my hunger. I just eat more! And I don’t feel the need to binge at the end of the day. Lol, what a novel thing! @@Bekaaboo what was the point? Honestly, I don’t think Hailey’s proposed day of eating should ruffle so many feathers. It’s on the lighter side but it’s very healthy. Besides, if it’s written in an article then it’s usually aspirational and inaccurate anyway. She doesn’t under-eat, she is clearly a healthy body size. How would you feel about someone saying a plus-sized celebrity “basically eats a thousand meals a day” just because they ate more than you? Would you be okay with that too? No. I feel like these videos are just ways to get angry about people wanting to eat to stay in shape and eat in ways they believe to be healthy, even when they aren’t actually that problematic like this example. Abbey seriously got bothered by Hailey when she read that she either has “oats or eggs” for breakfast instead of BOTH, and proceeded to fix herself both in efforts to prove a point… Like what? Idk… I guess these videos really are for a specific audience that I don’t fit into because I just don’t understand most of these comments.

Not talking about Hailey's diet, we already know about that. But what about the "improved" meals Abbey makes? Soooo much carbs it's not even balanced, the ratio carb to protein/fat is at least 10/1. Who puts croutons in a salad and eats it with bread (and calls it balanced)? I would rather eat a bag of chips. One could argue that the protein is also low, but protein needs vary greatly so I guess the ~50 grams total would be considered OK. Overall, very bad choice of recipes and macros. Because I work directly with clients, I don't often get the opportunity to grab a snack between appointments. Abby! I have to share that if you massage your kale leaves with lemon juice and really let it get in there before you chop it up, ughh it makes all the difference in the world! It help break it down a lil which really helps out your digestion (at least it felt that way for me), and makes the leaves a lot softer to chew. It also gives it great taste no matter the salad!

OMFG, love, love,loved this video!!! To start with, a dietitian/nutritionalist/and all the other amazing abilities you have; admitting that you don't care for Kale....yeah, thank you!!! I don't like kale, not in soup, salad, stir fry or any other "creative" way I'm told to "enjoy" it. I much prefer spinach, Swiss chard, etc. And then when you upped the salad with some croutons, oh yeah! Older movie reference here, with an ad lib..."Life without bread is no life at all". Thanks for sharing your time, efforts and knowledge with us!

"RIP Crouton" 😂 You're hilarious. Also I love all your videos. I really was guilty of choosing foods with the mindset of "I need to be in this calories range for each meal" and then ending up starving before the next one. Now it's more "I want to hit all the boxes and make sure my body is fueled and satiated". Thank you!!!

@@kisikisikisi I thought cacao was less processed though both are of course. Healthine says this: Use of “cacao” versus “cocoa” on chocolate products is inconsistent. Generally, raw cacao products - made from fermented, dried, unroasted cacao beans - are less processed and healthier. Still, standard dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa is a good source of beneficial antioxidants and minerals. Therefore, choose the cacao-rich products that best fit your taste buds and budget, but enjoy them in moderation since they’re all calorie-dense.

Uh, no. I went out of my way to look for the brand. It's Adam's Natural Creamy Peanut Butter. It has a distinct yellow to red font. And it has a blue metal lid. It has 190 cals per serving (which is 2 tablespoons and the same serving and cals as my peanut butter of choice: Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter). Yes, she used that same serving in the preparation of the smoothie, but she served herself a small portion of it and left the rest. Assuming it is half of the serving, there was one tbsp in the smoothie and another on top of the oatmeal. *2 tbsp. 190 cals. One serving. Less than 400 cals. Way less than 200 cals.*

@@user-fg4tn8ot6b I’ve been counting calories and weighing out my food for over a year. The biggest thing I’ve learned is, spoons and measuring cups are a terrible way to accurately measure food because of how much the amount (as in volume versus weight) can vary. A normal tablespoon of peanut butter is about 15 grams (that’s about a lightly heaped TEAspoon). Abbey used 2 insanely heaped tablespoons. That was 60 grams at least (possibly even more), which would come in at just under 400 calories.
