XD I've always assumed baby food is a bit bland since it's meant to be on the healthier side (I say meant to be as a lot of branded products have a lot of sugar in them.) And from people trying these products for entertainment it would seem not every meal combo tastes nice, haha!
Fun fact, Pringles are called "crisps" instead of "chips" because, when Pringles was starting out, Lays sued them saying that Pringles couldn't call their product chips because Pringles chips were made from compressing shaved potatoes into their shape instead of just slicing and frying them. The courts agreed so Pringles can't call their product "chips".
Everywhere but the US, chips are 'crisps' regardless, chips are what americans call french fries, but, Pringles, lays, dortios etc all crisps, chips are the long potatoey things u get with burgers. The defining feature of a crisp, being it being thin and 'crispy' hence the name.

what kills me about the cracker turkey one is that you could just get a half-sleeve of crackers, 2 slices of cheese, and 2 slices of turkey for less money, and still get more food out of it.
It amazes me that A) This somehow kept me full as an active child and B) I somehow got fat off these and spent years losing the weight. Like, it's so little food, how did either of those things happen? Does each cracker have like 2000 calories or something? Is this Space Marine food?

I worked at walmart as a personal shopper and it blew my mind how many lunchables they have now. The chicken nugget one seemed the worst to me. Cold chicken with cold ketchup that is already open in the tray? Seems really foul.
The chicken pretzel kebabs were awful. I tried it once as a kid because the funny jackalope and platypus told me it was good and they were liars. It was just cold chunks of chicken, “American cheese”, and pretzel sticks. I never tried the nuggets though
I'm not the sort of person who worries about chemicals and food additives, hell I'm eating some right now. But even I have to wonder how soaked in the damn things they must be to remain edible for months only lightly packed in plastic.

That is, in fact, the actual difference between Cheese and Cheese Product. The core difference between American and Cheddar cheese is American is aged less, and has Sodium Citrate, an ingredient that adds salt, acidity, and makes your cheese melt perfectly. I'd reccomend adding some Sodium Citrate to your next mac and cheese, instead of roux, it's WAY easier lmao
I remember when Lunchables first came out. They were all just variations of cheese and crackers back then. However, they did make a "deluxe" version (for adults?) It came with 2 different varieties of lunch meat, cheeses, and crackers, making it quite the little feast. Came with a neat little package/dispenser of dijon mustard, an Andes mint, and a napkin.
I remember having the pizza lunchable. Honestly, the commercials were so rad and looking at the new boxes makes me sick. Also, why would you sell gummy Lunchables?
I remember them having "Lunchmate bucks" back in the day. the smaller Lunchmates were worth 5 Lunchmate dollars and the Lunchables were worth more but i got Lunchmates more than the Lunchables. and you redeem the code online and you can use these Lunchmate dollars to get stuff. The Canadian version of the Packaging is sad looking compared to the American packaging too.
To answer the question of the pizza sauce spreader, BACK IN MY DAY they actually had a tiny red spoon, then it became a stick, and now there’s nothing. Honestly a good choice because fuck plastic waste but as a kid I remember noticing the change from spoon to stick and thought wtf lol
Merry Christmas, everyone! My gift for you all will be some small amount of knowledge. A "fun fact" if you will. Fun Fact: Expiration dates are heavily overestimated. Food labs have specific tests they will do to determine a product's expiration date, including some basic sensory tests like smell, taste, etc. and various scientific tests such as rancidity via testing for specific acids produced by various food as it spoils, microbiology testing like swabbing and growing bacteria or mold, and other tests. We store food for a long time and periodically test for it until one or more of the tests fail. Thing is, we don't the sample every day, we sometimes test it weekly or every other week, depending on the food itself, but once it fails, we don't know exactly when it spoiled in the week, so to be safe, we roll it back. In other words, the printed expiration dates are often a few days - even a week, if we tested every other week- before it actually starts producing those rot chemicals. In extreme cases where we test it once a month (mostly canned and dry foods), the expiration date may be nearly a month early. Some labs are even more cautious and roll back the date even further. The FDA does not mess around when it comes to these things. With that said, while we do err on the side of caution and print a date earlier than its supposed to, always make sure to smell and check for mold before eating anything past its expiration date! I'm going to send this to my husband. He's overly paranoid about these things to the point where he makes food prep hard (buy groceries in one big go on Monday, exp date says Thursday and if I try to cook Friday, he raises a fuss even if it looks, smells and tastes fine)

Most older 90s kids remember a time before the pizza lunchables and after. Before, the crackers with turkey and cheese or ham and cheese were basically your only choices. That's why they were the ones we ate. Once pizza came out...that was a game changer. They also had deep dish pizzas for a while which were also pretty great.
I remember this time, and lunchables were still a hit. Maybe it’s because you got to make your own little sandwiches, maybe it was the packaging, or maybe it was the bomb ass fake cheese (the original cheese they included that was squares instead of circles) but they were still great.
My most mind bending experience was microwaving the pizza ones after prep. They were definitely better that way. Cold I could not if I tried now. I distinctly remember how funky it was.
If it makes you feel any better with the best buy date, that is the last date when it is at peak freshness. Those things are probably good for at least another couple of months before anything terrible happens.
It should also be mentioned that most companies post a date WELL before there would be any actual danger so they can't be sued and so you keep buying their products. Unless it's fresh meat (no preservatives) or a dairy product you can tack on several weeks (months for some products) to pretty much anything. Companies know this too as some like Pepperidge Farm actually have outlets that sell expired foods for up to a year after the expiration date, they just don't advertise that fact openly. TL'DR - "Best by" dates are a scam made to have you throw out food so you're constantly buying more and a way to save on people suing for eating POSSIBLY expired food.
I loved lunchables too but when I got to high school and had them for lunch, people started making fun of me so I stopped eating them. I really loved them though.
@@coolchannelize15 they just thought that lunchables were for kids and that I was too old to be eating them so I stopped and I think it was just one person who did it to me but they wouldn’t stop bugging me about it so that’s why I stopped eating them.

I wish they made adult size lunchables. I remember my mom would get them for me all the time as a kid but she stopped when I told her in ninth grade that they no longer filled me up. I would totally buy a version of lunchables with bigger portions for adults.

I like mayo _and_ mustard on sandwiches. Usually ~4-1 mayo mustard. Like Peebs added, though, that's for lighter sandwiches. If you're getting a _real_ sandwich, it just really depends on what goes best with said sandwich
i remember as a kid, i was actually too poor to buy Lunchables on a regular basis, and my parents couldn't afford school lunch, so a lot of the time, i'd just pack a Nutella sandwich, some crackers or pretzels and some kind of juice in a little thermos, but every once in a while, i'd get Lunchables, and whenever i did, i felt like a king. i usually got the chicken nugget one, the nacho one and the pizza one, and i remember the chicken nuggets tasted so bad, even as someone who loves pretty much all kinds of chicken nuggets, no matter how cheap or processed they are, i think it was because they were usually cold, and some foods taste awful when they're cold, so maybe if i heated them up they wouldn't be so bad, and the nacho cheese always made me feel sick, and i didn't like salsa as a kid, so i only really liked the pizza ones. but even with the awful chicken nuggets and the nacho cheese that made me feel sick, i still felt boujee as hell when i got Lunchables.
Team mayonnaise for me, but like in general as a sandwich topping. There are an equal amount of situations in which mustard is better than mayo. I also put chips on my sandwiches, especially spicy sweet chili doritos, or plain potato chips
"Food is an excuse to eat sauce." This is so relatable. My Mom rarely got these b/c they were so heavily processed. She also said why spend the money when we can just do it at home. We need adult Capri Sun. Pizza with No Cheese is a Tomato Pie.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. In Canada I haven't seen or remember growing up with lunchables that came with a drink. That's pretty cool now I'll be on the look for them with the drinks I know my local grocery stores don't have.
ironic how the candy lunchables look exactly like the thneedville gummy food and the reason they have that in the movie is to show how everything in thneedville is extremely processed and synthetic just like regular lunchables
