Back in the 90's if you wanted a Hot Hatch it was either Ford or Vauxhall. I was a Ford RS nut myself but I'm chuffed for you that you've now got your dream car, Paul. Great YT channel and I can't wait to see more vids on improving the Nova 👍
Corsa C SRi rear axel bolted straight onto the Corsa B for the disc brake conversion on them for redtops. So i assume you can do the same for the nova. Even if you only use the discs and not the axel
You ol' boy racer 😍 racey cars are fun but not for long. A good friend had a stripped out MkII Midget fully prepped for hill climbing many, many years ago. Crazy fun but more than 5 miles in it and you were deaf, numb, and aching all over. Didn't stop us honing around the countryside at every opportunity though. Have fun with it dood. 👍
Really enjoyed this one mate, and what a car! I've got to say I've only really started watching car stuff on RU-vid over the last year or so, and you're just the most likeable chap out of anyone I'm subscribed to. Awesome stuff, keep them coming!
Love Novas, I wanted an SR for my first car, but couldn't convince my parents. A lad a few years older than me from where i grew up had an awesome graphite grey one, lowered on TSW evos, great memories.
Dont bother with the astra gte rear disks . I used to run them on mine and they are over kill (and lock up easily). If you really wanna go for disks the corsa c sri ones bolt on to the nova beam
Yea! we got to see Kieth again. Flash back but there her was. A Good Old Boy. You don't see many Novas on the road these day. I have always like them and other sporty Vauxhalls of that era. I used to have Cavalier SRi on an E plate. ended up turning it into a 130 SRi after a slight mishap with a battery and melting things. Plus we had a 130 come in that had a falling out with a Tranny Van and the drivers seat was about 9 inch wide. so it donated a few parts.
You dont neeed rear discs, you will need to bias them off so much they won't even be doing anything. If the brakes are poor then the issue aint the rears. Awesome motor by the way, just crazy money. And from experience that fuel pump noise isnt normal.
Watched this via the TV last night, and it got me thinking to when I used to run Vauxhalls. I used to use a breakers in the fens called Car Quip, but I think they are no longer trading. Anyway, once when I was there there was an ex fireman who had lost all his fingers but was still rallying, picking up some parts. He had a Nova that he'd upgraded for road use and to help counter torque steer he'd tilted the engine by 6 or 8 degrees. Was a quick little car as it used to fly past my modified astra SRi. Food for thought.
Rear disc conversion will be too much for the car when under hard braking the rear will lock up!! The car’s rear is way to light the drums are more then enough
Was a nice car but not a touch on old mk2 Escort had both and the astra mk1 gte an mk2 didn't like the mk2 astra . Few golf's gti Any how's nice car hope you fix the nippy gremlins 👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🦄😁🤞✌️ Ps what ever happened to mk1 escort camper ? Soz to rub salt if sore one 😊
Still work to do on it, & 22k for a Nova? I like them, but don't get the price for them. If it was a completely unmolested original with ridiculous low miles & 1 owner I could understand. Why do these command a higher price than say an Astra GTE of similar age?
I always look forward to seeing your content. Vauxhall's, Ford's and everything else of this era, I worked on as an apprentice mechanic. It was much easier then.
Werthers original...🤣 I remember someone local sticking an Astra GTE red top engine into one of these and keeping the 1.3sr badges on the back. I look forward to seeing you fix the little issues and trying to get it going in a straight line once you floor it.
Astra gsi or cavalier gsi rear disc set up work as I assume it’s on 4 stud wheels still. Look into fitting equal length drive shafts. Also the rose jointed lower arm kits are well worth the money as they allow you to run more caster which helps with stability at speed as well as the rose joints keeping everything tight and not changing the toe settings like the bushes can when under hard load.
@@ODDAutos happy days if it has, set the caster to as much as your bumper allows (tyre ends up very close) when I ran my track corsa b turbo I set it to zero toe at the front and rear, pulled straight as a arrow.
Astra gte callipers and discs are an easy front conversion you just have to have bigger than 15” alloys to clear the set up. I fitted them to my 1.3sr made a big difference. Love the car.
wow £22000 for a Nova! I wrote 2 of those off when I was 18 within 8 weeks (nearly 30 years ago!) - dont recommend crashing one! Thats tidy Porsche Cayman money though - fair play to you though
Was this built with a diff, cant remember. If not, get a diff in it. One of the best things you can do to a car. My MK6 fiesta is currently 335bhp and with the quaiffe diff in it puts the power down every time
@@ODDAutos Ah ok cool, what an awesome car though. The Nova was the poster car for many of us growing up and still to this day I'd have a well speccd turbo any day, my dream as a 16 year old
Ok guys! I apologise for the De-tuning comments! ( when he said about making the car more of a daily driver I thought about him shopping at Sainsbury’s etc..) my bad ha ha! 😂🤣😂🤣
I am in the process of fitting a corsa power steering column to my mk2 escort with a variable control switch I will only using it when parking or low speeds
@@billywhizz98dude,use either the satellite controlled module or one that senses pressure on the steering wheel, read a few horror stories about the knob types.
*THIRTY YEARS AGO*, 1993, my 17yo apprentice was bought a nova 1.2 his parents, [3dr white, reg K330 ***] on the condition that he was a good boy for a year. he was, indeed, a good boy after that year was up, a 2 litre turbo found it's way under the bonnet, which, 2 months later, was caught racing a sierra cosworth down the M1, as it would of been rude not to do so. anyways, back to the point, he was going down the country to get his front hubs sorted by the engine kit people, as it kept blowing bearings out, so, keep an eye on those front bearings. his rear discs were drilled up [off something else], but 30yrs have dulled my memory
