I'd bet money everyone who played this game wanted him to get back up when Kratos tried to spare him. I've never wanted to kill someone in a game so bad
And what's even funny to me was that kratos looks like he's about to do something worse to him. But heimdall just straight up died via choking before kratos could do it.
I love that Heimdall in the MCU is a noble watcher and warrior who was willing to risk life and limb for his people and friends, and GOW Heimdall is a middle finger personified.
MCU Heimdall is kind of similar to Mythology Heimdall. Mythology Heimdall is one of the wisest and kindest gods in Norse pantheon. GoW Heimdall never got a chance to grow since he’s still a teenager in human years.
Pretty much every antagonist in this game was projecting hard. Thor projecting the fact that he hates thinking about his life and Odin projecting his own insecurities about his lack of knowledge and desire for it.
Damn. That makes a lot of sense. Hiemdal is so insecure and desperate for approval that he resorts to bullying Atreus and Thrud to make himself feel better
My favorite part was when Thor showed up to protect Atreus and asked himedall to look in his eyes he immediately dropped the arrow shot at him because Thor was thinking about shoving it up his ass, that's why he calls Thor "a sick man"
I doubt it, he isn’t really a coward because he knew his chances of winning were slim after he lost his arm and was given a chance for mercy. He is just too prideful
I like to think that, since Heimdall can read people's minds, he called Kratos a monster not because he was killing him, but because he saw _exactly_ what Kratos did to the Olympians
@@mikhailabraham421 true but that boxing sequence when you stun him leads me to believe he would've been fine without the spear He crossed dude up with the same combo he threw 2 difference times only different was a tightened stance and faster sharper punches 🤷♂️
I think the real intimidating part of that is Heimdall only backed down because he knows Thor has the power to follow through with his violent thoughts. Otherwise he wouldn't have stopped.
I'd say both are satisfying for different reasons. Zeus had two games worth of build up which made it satisfying to finally reach that goal. Heimdall was a smug twat who got what he deserved. Kinda like villains who act completely smug before somebody gives them a serving of humble pie.
I like how Heimdall channels his inner Frieza in the third phase of the fight. “How dare you spare me!!” “You are in way over your head!” “Do you know who I am?!”
I wonder if it’s because Odin was a clinical narcissist that Heimdall couldn’t see the bad in him. Because Odin literally cannot see the bad in himself
@@Urd-Vidan nah not Baldur. Baldur is literally suicidal and hence what made him strong. He doesn't care if you hurt him, hell he would love it if you kill him.
@@Urd-Vidanbaldur wanted to die. Of course he would've been cocky because kratos quite literally couldn't kill him until they got rid of his immortality
Bro we heard soo many stories about thor being a horrible person from the first game and yet this game made us hate heimdal even more in such a short amount of time
@@Anonymous-hx3pu if I'm about to die you bet I'm going to spite them and say something brash as one last spit in the face to the bastard who put me down.
I honestly loved Heimdall. Yeah he was a jerk but he was so funny. I laughed out loud every almost every line he spoke. The way he kept roasting people was some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever heard. I was actually really sad we had to kill him. He was my favorite character in the game.
Fun fact. When Hiemdal stepped down from Thor, he read Thor's mind and saw visions of him being brutally tortured and murdered before getting his corpse ra-... Let's stop it at there... That's why Hiemdal calls Thor sick...
At least heimdall fought like a man even when he knew hed probably did. Hermes just ran like a little bitch and only fought because he couldn't run away anymore
I’m not even gonna lie I personally loved heimdall I thought regardless of he he acted and was as a person he was pretty loyal to the man he served and was cold as hell
I respect that Classic Man actually gave props to the voice actor for being talented. You have no idea how many people give shit to an actor for playing a bad guy they don’t like
You can see when Atreus grabs Heimdalls hand when he’s dangling from the cliff that Heimdall is actually surprised, and his eyes light up as if he was activating his power to see if Atreus would try anything else
Okay, as someone who's played every God of War game, I was shaking my head the entire time Heimdall was talking shit to Kratos. I'm like "My dude, you're not even top 20 most dangerous enemies Kratos has fought. Catch these hands and be humbled."
Dude, THE MOMENT Kratos landed that hit was the moment Helmdal lost, what’s worse was he was willing to let him off with a warning until he mentioned Atreus
The fact that, after all this, Kratos was willing to let him live, and this dude mentioned killing Atreus, and Kratos didn't even speak, just finished him
Okay, I haven't played God of War Ragnorak yet, but every time I see Heimdall's arm getting blown off while he's talking so much crap is the most satisfying thing I'm the world
I think the end of the boss fight is genius. They spend a lot of time making the player want to kill him, only for the player to instantly regret it after realizing you're fulfilling the prophecy
One of my favorite details is that even when kratos punched Heimdall, it was the ring that cut him, so literally every bit of damage done to him was by the spear
They messed up majorly during one mission by having Heimdall join you and Thrúd on a mission to complete the mask, but dips out almost immediately. The back and fourth banter between the three of you would have been fantastic. Having him insult you every time you miss a perfect parry would have been great and maybe if you ever let Atreus die, he revives you once and holds it over your head. All of this would have made Heimdall more hateable and make the boss fight even more personal.
