BBC Proms 2016 - the music of Quincy Jones featuring the Metropole Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley. "I Can't Stop Loving You" - arranged by Quincy Jones; transcribed by Callum Au Solo Trombone - Bart Van Lier
But the BBC basically sound balances John Wilson's outfit like a classical acoustic performance, whereas the marvellous Metropole Orch is a multimiked, compressed sound with greater punch. Put another way: if JW's outfit was balanced the Metropole way they would sound very different.
Bought this record today!! , and it brought back great memories from 35 years ago, my first acid house party. Where i wore my sisters self made smiley 't shirt, and a home made necklace where i put a Kenn doll on. Was already heavy into New Beat❤
Wow!!!!!! #BigBand #Jazz
The only thing missing is an animated conductor. Come on Jules! Shake a leg or wave a baton...or something! Just don't stand there in the midst of this exceptional rendition!
Because it is exactly the same tempo as the studio recording for which this arrangement was written, and subsequently won a Grammy. That it was performed faster on a subsequent live performance is common for many big bands of the era
Oh its absolutely a thumbs up.. You just gotta love how the conductor doesn't even try he's loving it so much.. its conducts itself.. It just slugs along, round and round.. Its unbearably sexy music. What genius!
