On my birthday I hunted for a destiny marked mareep and I got one! That one has to be my favorite because ampharos is my favorite Pokémon

I think mark hunting shiny pokemon is the future for the community of hard core hunters. It feels similar in terms of duration as in the past. I'm talking about personality marks btw not the common marks. I'm currently 13 shiny deep on growlithe. Will update when I get one with a good mark.

Admittedly, Shiny hunting in SV is pretty fun since it feels like an Easter Egg hunt or a Where's Waldo, but I still miss the traditional methods like the Battle Method from SWSH, even if it was bugged.

At the start of my play through I encountered 2 random full odd shinies and my little brother was jealous, NOW he has a full box of shinies and extras and hunting them like it’s nothing while I have half a box and taking hours for one.

Something you can do to save the Herbas, if you have access to another switch. Get that to set the sandwhich up, then they can close the game. (Won't lose any ingredients) but the other switch will still keep sparkling level 3

Your luck is a lot better than mine, apparently! The most shinies I've gotten from a single sandwich was 4, but I usually average about 2. With everyone talking about how easy it is and posting all these "do nothing and get infinite shinies!" videos, I'm seriously worried that Gamefreak is going to nerf shiny spawn rates, fix the shared sandwich power exploit or nerf herba mystica shiny/encounter boosts in an upcoming patch. I just want the shiny sparkle sound and flash on overworld shinies. If I can get that, this will be the most fun shiny hunting I've ever had in a game. As is, there are many Pokemon I refuse to shiny hunt because it's just too hard or impossible to tell the difference. I already end up with eye strain and watery eyes sometimes after a shiny hunt because of the game's lighting messing with my eyes while trying to spot less-obvious shinies.

I found two full odds shinies within an hour of starting the game. They’re a Hoppip and a Fletchling. I haven’t found anything else yet, though, though I will be hunting a lot after I finish the game and start finishing out the dex.

Lum berry is pretty good for koriadon to hold during raids but black belt is also good

I tend to hunt for specific mons rather than just any so I've only capped around half a box so far, but they're mostly a bunch of shinies I want so I don't mind working longer to get specific things with eggs or outbreaks. My most recent hunt was Noibat; the line is my favorite mons so I've been trying to get one with outbreaks for weeks but the outbreaks kept spawning in walls and I didn't feel like changing times over and over to get one that wasn't spawning in the wall. Finally found one that fit the bill a few days ago and grabbed myself a shiny Noibat and Noivern :)

I am mark hunting every Violet paradox Pokémon. Did the sandwich for iron bundle, ended up getting 30! One had a personality mark :) surprise traded all the non marked ones on Christmas!

Overworld spawns definitely make shiny hunting easier but it's still exciting to find one. Just while playing the game I found three shinies before even getting the shiny charm. First was a shiny Luxray while I was walking through the bamboo forest to take on the fighting type team star squad. Next was a shiny Garganacl in Area Zero while I was walking down to the final lab. The third one was a shiny Sneasel that I found in Area Zero while grinding an Azumarill up to level 100 for raids. I wasn't hunting either. These three were random encounters. After getting the shiny charm, I hunted for a shiny Larvitar using sandwich power because I was told it was an easy one to hunt. I did get one shiny Larvitar but was disappointed because I was seeing other people getting multiple at a time with sparkling power lv 3. After I got the Larvitar, I flew 'home' and decided to walk around. Before I even made it to the school gate, I saw something red behind a rock to the side of the path. It was a shiny Tarountula. It wouldn't not be the last shiny. Just from a few hours of walking around the map I found a shiny Skiddo, Drifloon, and Sableye. The next day, I did the same thing and found a shiny Growlithe, Toedscool, Fletchling, and Buizel. Yesterday I found another shiny Sneasel and a shiny Gogoat. So, I was very lucky with shinies. I'm hoping all my luck doesn't dry up because I want to find a shiny Pawniard, Grimer, Sandygast, and anything I'm lucky enough to come across. I haven't been using sandwich powers because it's hard to grind for them.

It's Nice that the Apricorn Balls and the Dream ball are more easier to find with Auctions since you're gonna need a lot of them for Marked hunts. Too bad the Beast Ball doesn't appear in Auctions.

Thank you for specifying that the 30-60 rule is only for Outbreaks Other RU-vidrs haven't worded it that way, and I found myself wondering if or when that chain ends. But if it's tied to the specific outbreak, then obviously it ends when the outbreak ends, yes?

I see you did Shiny Voltorb hunt! I’ve spent hours and hours hunting shiny Pokémon on the game but the first easy one I had was Voltorb and I got 3 Shiny ones in under a hour. Just kept going and got one for my nephew. The other one I did was Kilowattrel! I got 7 Shiny ones in total within 2 hours but it was far from easy. I had the mass outbreak near the costal town and I lost so so many cause of them being so many and bumping into the other ones. I was just screaming at my switch the whole time 🤣 oh and I haven’t beaten the story yet. So no shiny charm or herbs I’ve been pretty lucky. Just love to Shiny Hunt. Plus I get to Shiny Hunt Pokémon my Wife and Nephew loves so I get to surprise them.

You can actually reroll raids and outbreaks by setting the clock back by one minute, regardless of the time. Not sure if that works for the auctions though. Haven't tested that yet.

It’s crazy, my gf has half a box full shinies full odds! while I missed a blue whooper on my first day because I thought that was a normal whooper, not realizing they are now brown lol

I've become so spoiled with lvl3 sandwich that if after 7 minutes I don't have my first shiny I just reset and restart 😂 I need at least 2 shiny per sandwich to make it worth the 2 herba hahaha

Koraidon can learn screech, and Miraidon can learn Metal Sound. Corvinight, and Armarouge are also good options

i found a full odds hippopotas and im doing the mathusda method which has gotten me a shiny tinkatink, bounsweet, i got 2 mareanies legit 50 or so eggs apart that were shiny, the game also said i have battled 4 so taking the hippopotas out ive missed like 3 shinies somehow

This is the only game I've shiny hunted this much. I have 2 boxes full of pokemon before finishing the story even. 200 hours of gameplay later I finally finished the game and my latest shiny is my favorite Pokemon. Magneton. I got 2 of them so Ican evolve one and have 2 boxes full. No shiny charm yet and no herbas tho I have 2 herbas now I coulds have made my life easier but I enjoy it as it is.

Just fyi you don't even have to change the time to midnight to reset everything! Simply going to the date and time and clicking the ok button will reset your raids and outbreaks.

just an FYI, if you have a 2nd switch, and do sandwhich making in a union circle, have the 2nd console use the herba mystica. Then simply kill the game on it after crafting, you'll get the buff on 1st console, whilst keeping mats. It's what Im doing, cause grinding raids is just extremely unfun with how buggy they are.

If you do a union circle and do a group sandwich one switch provides the herba mystica and the other does any ingredient needed and butter then the switch the provided the herba closes the game after the sand which is on the screen that shows the buffs and it won’t take your herbas and the other switch will get the buffs for free

If you want to change time even faster, you can simply set it back by 1 minute. After all, time can't move backwards

I did the medosa method with a 6 iv Japanese’s diddo and after 9 hours got 5 tho I did get a 6 iv shiny and it had pokerus very rare

I will say my one problem with shiny hunting this gen is that there’s no sound cue. I’ve got disabilities that makes spotting some of the shinies kinda hard, and it sucks ass to try and find them without a sound like legends had. I’ve found ONE and it was through eggs (super lucky though, 14 deino eggs in lol)

You can reroll the raid by putting your clock back 1 minute.

Go back one minute to save time and when shiny hunting, ALWAYS save before you battle the pokemon. It's worth it in the end.

Do you save your game once it says that the outbreak is going down? And how do you auto battle in water. It doesn’t really work for me.

Replace Water Jet with Superpower and Azumarill can cover more items.

If you're just trophy hunting this is fine, but if you're a competitive player, who wants to properly use the shinies, I recommend leading with a pokemon that has false swipe as well as the Synchronize ability. I'm not certain that is in this game yet or if it still has its field effect, but assuming it is, have a Sychronizer that matches the nature that you want on the shiny, and you'll have a good chance of getting it, so you won't have to mess around with mints. Thats how synchronize worked in older games, again no idea if you can use it that way still Though I suppose at that point you may as well use the Masuda Method but that takes forever

My first shiny was silicobra in Violet but my first shiny ever was pichu was in Pokemon pearl

what's nuts is my first full-odds shiny came with a 1/50 odds mark (shiny skiddo with the uncommon mark), and the math is leading me to believe that i had a 1/204,800 chance of that occurring???? is that correct or am i just not doing the math right? either way, it's INSANE and i'm still flabbergasted by it. i know the shiny charm boosts mark odds now as well, so i've gotten a handful more with marks!

But what if I go to a Magikarp outbreak then kill way too many and get 913 Magikarp scales and only get a shiny Gyarados

Sandwich very very rarely give me more than 2 shinies per 30 mins of sparkling power. I have gone hour and a half sometimes without getting any shiny with the 1 in 683 odds.

Tbh I think shinies should be a bit easier now, because there’s 1k Pokémon so I don’t think it’s a bad thing imo
