Great shave and video Drew. I never could get use to the smell of Tabac but the performance is phenomenal. Fine Accoutrements had their soap base made by Tabac and just added their scents to it and it's awesome. So instead of the Tabac scent, you have American Blend, Platinum etc with the performance of Tabac's soap base. Fine use to advertise it on their website.
That’s a great shave! I’ve always liked the scent of Tabac... and yes, the performance of it is outstanding.... Fine bases their soap base on the Tabac base for reference. Have a great weekend!!
Knife to the Face it is definitely a complex scent! Fine soaps are more focused scent wise, but the performance is just as good, I’m sure you would like their product.
Great shave. The coticule edge looked and sounded effortless. I was the same on Tabac. The performance is legendary. We seem to be willing to put up with the scent if it steps up our shave just a notch. The scent to me initially burned my nostrils as it was so strong. I left the top off for a couple of months and that helped. The edt is definitely much better than the soap or AS. The tobacco scent described is THE FLOWER, not the leaf that we all associate with a tobacco scent. Don’t know if you know but Fine soaps use this same base. ...and I’ve been told by my very German mother-in-law that it’s pronounced tah-bock with no accent on either syllable.
Tabac is all I use now. It ain't the slickest but softens the hairs so much the blade just goes right through them like they're not even there. I always follow up a shave with the EDC spray and it's a great finish to a great shave.
Tabac does perform well. I can see how some people wouldn’t like the scent. I personally don’t mind it. I’ve had certain soaps that I didn’t like when I first smelled them and after a while the scent grew on me . Have a great week Drew. Nice shave!
Great shave. I like the performance, but still cant get past the scent that reminds me of every nursing home uve ever been in. Glad you learned to love it😂
I haven't had luck with straight edge shaving due to sensitive skin, however I do own and wear Tabac cologne frequently and get compliments from men and women alike. I use the body soap (in the bar with tortoise shell case) as well. Great shave and the sounds of the razor were really relaxing. Thanks for sharing!!
I have a bit of sensitive skin myself. In order to get the best shave I need to apply moisturizer and or preshave oil about 15 mins before the shave. Then I get in the shower with a hand towel and apply hot water to my face. I also use a moisturizing cleanser. After I get out of the shower I put preshave oil on. It’s a lot of prep but it works for me. As for the razor I have no problem with Gold Dollar 66 Razors as long as they are honed properly. I hone them my self.
@@knifetothebass1642 that sounds like something I might try. I really like a close shave and I read that straight edges are better for the skin. Thanks for your reply! And not to sound creepy, but you have nice skin so it must be working well for you!!
I was one of the people that liked Tabac the very first time I smelled it. Had the cologne but my wife NO! lol! So I passed that along, but still have the soap. Actually I have the shave stick and the ceramic bowl. Love this stuff!
Great shave, to be honest I liked it the first time I used it! I don’t have the after shave or the cologne but Tabac is one of my favorite soap = performance. Thanks to share. Gino
Gino Sonier I like the scent as well. The Aftershave isn’t quite as nice as the soap but the cologne is a lot like the soap but a little better I think.
On this edge I took it to a heavy slurry and diluted it gradually over about 15 mins until it was just water. At that point I put a trace amount of Williams mug soap on the stone to give it a little glide. Never put much pressure though the whole process. The blade was also pretty sharp when I started. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Nice shave 👍👍👍 The edge seems to cut realy great. Tabac rules. I just love Tabac used it when i was younger and i use it even today. But my wife don’t like it so i don’t use it as offen as i want. Have a great day. 🤘😃🤘
My grandpa used it. that scent reminds me of rather pleasent pipe tobacco. and soapy, lavender. it is a nostalgic scent. old school from 60s. Yes floral too.but why not use it as a real man? legend!!! The cologne is rather too strong for me! I love the shaving soap, the after shave afterwards and as a fragrance I use the Aftershave too (splash on my neck and shoulders just to smell good.
Hey Drew. Pretty cool when you change your mind about a soap and a scent; I have had the same experience. But not with soaps that make me smell like an old lady; maybe I should try that. Never tried Tabac. You made me curious. Old ladies love me anyway.
Shave&Butcher lol. Matti loves Tabac and he’s a Swede so maybe you will like it too. lol 😂 actually I can’t guarantee your like it but it will give you a good shave. It has a tone of protection and glide, and it’s easy to lather.
Thortheviking Shaves I thought it was a pretty good description my self. Lol! My wife doesn’t let me wear Hawaiian 🌺 shirts anymore but hasn’t said anything about the Cologne yet. Crossing my fingers.
The aftershave is a little more sour than the soap. The cologne is a lot more similar, but if you’re not a huge fan of the scent of the soap you probably wont like the aftershave.
Comparing to othet massproduced soaps it's a very good one. Comparing with a good artisan it's not a good soap. It left me with itritation post shave. Probably due to all the chemichals. However I will return to it to see if I experince it other wise today. Was over a year ago I used it a couple of times. The smell didn't bother me.
@@knifetothebass1642 Man, I am a 2nd generation barber from the infamous 8 mile road in Detroit Mi. I came up under old barbers. the good thing about that is that I learned how to work a straight razor like I was born with it. The bad part is I had to smell Tabac every day until I opened up my own shop. And the first thing that I did was ban Tabac from the joint. That s### smells like ben gay and old man house shoes. LOL
