I want to make a correction. I meant to say Costa Rica not Puerto Rico(which is part of the USA) for the $1 rentals. I have been to both places and both beautiful.

Also worth noting - if you hit someone else, either a car or a scooter, they will check their entire car or scooter for ANY defect and attempt to get you to pay for it. On the spot. I *lightly* touched a scooter with the GFs car (no damage to car or scooter) and the female rider spent about 5 minutes going over her scooter trying to find anything she could use to extort money from me. She failed. Luckily. If you hit a Thai persons vehicle you are automatically in the wrong as a Farang. Especially scooters.

Oh David thanks for this comment! It almost happened to us yesterday when I opened the door and lightly touched this girls Mercedes’ and she looked and looked until she saw a small white mark. Yet our car had nothing.

Was recently in Puerto Rico and rented a car from the airport and took the insurance. They told me the insurance does not cover damaged or stolen tires / wheels. So I said, but if the car itself is stolen, it's covered. The girl at the counter said yes, but if the wheels or tries get damaged when you return them, you are responsible for the cost of repair or replacement. This was a major rental place that's everywhere in the US too. I guess due to the condition of the country roads, you can easily hit a pothole or ditch or, they just steal rims. Insane.

Oh my goodness! I took a rental car back damaged in Ireland. I was freaking out! The back panel was dented in pretty good. The guy at the counter went out to look at it, came back in, and said, don't worry about it! I couldn't believe it! Whew! Good advice, Cory, thanks!

I was driving on the blue ridge parkway once and came up on a car stopped on the side of the road. I got out to help and 3 British people got out and (imagine the accent) said they had a “double puncture “ …I was like what?? Then they explained, not used to driving on the right side, they ran off the road a little and got 2 FLATS on the right side. Bad thing was….the rental company couldn’t understand their accent, so I called for them and explained situation. Glad to help out.

I backed my GFs car into a stupid post that was randomly stuck in a car parking area and was about 4ft high (so you can't see it out the rear window) because... TIT...and sticking a post in a car parking area is the kind of cr@p that people do here. Dented the rear plastic bumper and the boot lid quite badly. She has a mate who owns a repair shop. 7500 baht to make like new, which is cheap, but still annoying 😤

Did you see that white pickup overtake you on your scooter with oncoming traffic. They drive like total idiots in Thailand. If one of them drives into your rental car you are screwed not knowing the language and police are on the hand of the locals. They take you to the cleaners. You are accused of causing the accident. I would never rent a car in Thailand, I use buses, trains and taxi's. I also stay clear of anything on 2 or 3 wheels. Check all the Thai that have injuries on their body from traffic accidents. If you fall in love you become a bit blind to certain things. The choices you make have consequences. Some learn it the hard way and others are ahead in the game. Those life lessons make who you are. Keep your eyes open and be safe, the grass is not always greener on the other side. Been there done that.

Watch out for all the poisonous snakes like the kraits, king cobras, sea snakes, sea kraits, and coral snakes. Those things could kill you! I am very intrigued by Thailand.

I have been living 25 years in Asia. Been in his shoes then used to tried to warn newcomers for many years until I understood it was totally useless. Yes he's 100% clueless about what he's doing, he really is, but just let him do whatever he wants and hope for the best! He might just get lucky. Even if this goes wrong, the coming dramas will make great videos so unless he "accidentally" falls from the 27th floor of a Thai condo, whatever happens is okay to me!

After video was up the last comments were just toxic and racist so privatized the video. I am loving my life until I touch my phone and look at social media, and I am told how I am doing life wrong and people wildly assuming wrong about my life. Toxic. Insanity to me. RU-vid should be fun so now the question is for my own happiness do I end this channel?
