I think the hardest part is accepting the fact that they weren’t really the person you thought they were in your head. When you see who they really are you are so confused and wonder when did I miss this?? The fact that they don’t care and move on like it’s nothing while you’re still hurting is the worse. I hope we let go soon & never look back.

This was a reply to someone but I thought it would be helpful for anyone going through a breakup to hear: trust me, it does get better! What has helped me: - journaling every day (documenting my journey through journalling) - speaking to friends and family for support and spending time with them - paying attention to the negative aspects of the relationship and the person you were with, not the positives (helps you realise that the relationship wasn’t perfect) - allowing yourself to feel your emotions instead of bottling them up and ignoring them (it can help to express this through art, music, or picking up hobbies!) - start doing things for yourself like taking yourself on dates, treating yourself, and self-love + self-care (this can include working out, eating better, and yoga) - meet new people - removing them from everything so you give yourself time to heal, that is so so important. Even if you want a friendship, give yourself some space from them and let them know you need some time away from them. - watching advice videos on how to get over breakups/videos like this can show you that you aren’t alone I have been going though my breakup for nearly 2 months and it really does get better, I promise. Just like a broken limb or injury, a broken heart needs time to heal. Even if you treat your injury every day, it still needs time to heal the injury ❤️ you can make it through this! Trust me, once you’re feeling better, you’ll realise the breakup was for the better and that you’ll find someone who is better for you :)

This makes me feel less alone. I recently went through a breakup. (Over 9 years of an on and off relationship) We broke up mutually around the beginning of December. Then I found out he already had someone. Someone way younger, completely opposite of me... I had the suspicion that he had been talking to this person since November (before we broke up). Makes sense now that he moved on so fast. Of course, I did not react well.... looked for closure but worst mistake ever. I met with him in person and it went so wrong. He treated me like an option and I could tell he didn’t feel anything for me anymore. This has impacted me so much. I still feel pain but I’m slowly healing. I have accepted that it’s over. I will continue to heal and grow.

Thanks for this! It's been a little over a month since my very first break up and I'm still very much riding the cycles of healing and finding myself again. Some days are great. Some days suck. But seeing that other people go through this and seeing that even people with awesome sparkly personalities such as yourself face this really really helps in getting some perspective. If you must truly honour your love or whatever you want to call that strong, strong feeling, you must not escape the pain of not having it fulfilled. Having invested your emotions and your soul so deeply, you have already shown how strong you are to take that risk on another person. If you were worthy of that kind of love, you can only find out by feeling out the hurt and the pain completely. When you come out of the darkness, you will come out a new, with much to share with the world, and perhaps, you will start giving again, from a much more immense place within you. Not all of us will reach such places.

Find out what are your triggers. For example, I used to ruminate about what he is doing, who he is doing it with, what he is thinking about me, if I am going to run into him, literally, NONE of that matters because I remind myself that if he would have been MY person, we wouldnt be broken up, so why caring if in a few months I am not in love with him anymore since he is NOT my person. I figured that out when I worked on myself and asked myself whom I want to date and then I met guys who were a thousand times more compatible with my personality then HE WAS. Its not worth it to be heartbroken, never, since a break up means there is a reason you are broken up. Its just the attachment towards them that is holding us back, but the truth is, attachment is not always healthy, attachment does not always reflect who you really are and what you want, attachment can be insecurities, childhood experience, trauma, etc. Attachment can be healthy and you will feel that when you feel calm around this person.

I maybe a 23 year-old man with limited experience in this life thus far,but I genuinely understand where you're coming from sista fam. I've been cheated on by 3 out of the 5 women that I've dated so far in my life. Their excuses always was,"I love you not him." And "I'll never do it again." Or here's one that really made me chuckle, "All I did was a BJ, we didn't actually sleep together so technically I didn't cheat on you bae."🤦🏾‍♂️ Mind you she did this in a public setting with many on lookers recording the sleazy action taking place💁🏾‍♂️I'd be a fool to continue dating someone like that,regardless of the idiotic reasons for why I stayed,I can see my mom shaking her head in shame as a result of me informing her of said decision. Basically because she knows she didn't raise a fool. So the first of my ex lovers did indeed continue to cheat and I continuously forgave her while praying she'd change someday. Unfortunately for her,that change NEVER came. On top of that she couldn't cook,wouldn't clean,was always disobedient, untrustworthy, uncompromising, irrational,arrogant,couldn't satisfy my needs in the bedroom,and on top of all that a total NAG! And I NEVER EVER cheated in any of my relationships although I've had multiple opportunities to do so throughout the course of them all,I also cooked, cleaned,provided for us financially by working two jobs at the time,helped take care of the children she had by another man before dating me,took her on dates every two or three weeks mostly due to our financial income at the time,always listened to her banter and told her I loved her just about everyday,messaged her entire body with all types of scented body oils followed by romantic baths together every other weekend,I'd start just about every session of love making by going down on her,and I was constantly blowing her back out 4 if not 5 times a night. Her eyes were rolling,her toes were curling,her screeches of joy and satisfaction were nearly deafening, and our sheets were continuously soaked in her juices but I constantly remained unsatisfied because everything I enjoyed doing she'd resist. Which made it quite the dull experience for me every time we decided to get nasty to be honest with you😒 So by the time I met the second and third ladies I've ever dated. I completely learned my lesson,henceforth why I'm not married to any of them,and I'm completely single now searching for my soulmate. Which isn't easy for anyone EVER. Especially as of the current day,basically because alot of today's youth just wanna have the fun of an actual relationship without any of the seriousness that commitment brings to the debate. And that kind of commitment isn't just on weekdays and holidays. It's 24/7 365 no days off, and ALOT of today's youth can't or won't handle that💯I'm the honest husband type of guy. I'm not what they like to call a "Playa/Player" in the dating community. I don't enjoy breaking women's hearts like plenty of other men enjoy doing now a days for some odd reason. Like for example, my homeboy once told me that his baby momma was infuriating him with all her nagging. And then I informed him that you can't go around cheating on her after she not to long ago gave birth to your child my dude. That's just stupid and selfish of you. Especially considering that she bends over backwards for him both figuratively and I'm sure literally. Plus he was living in her house with no job at all,like OMG how dumb can you be bro. He got a whole wifey right infront of him on a daily basis,yet he steady treating this woman like a side chick and I just don't get it🤷🏾‍♂️I'm constantly telling him,bro you gotta change your ways or your loyal hard working baby momma of three of your seeds will up and leave you someday fam,because there's REAL MEN out here searching for a REAL WOMEN like yours. But he doesn't believe me because they've been together since Highschool. I'll pray that he'll eventually wake up. Relationships like everyday life also consist of moments where one needs to utilize their common sense. Which ALOT of today's youth doesn't possess much of either. Unlike him and numerous others I'm not trying to be out here playing and laying for the rest of my life,I'm aware that my youthful years will expire eventually. That's why I'm only ever searching for wife material. So if whom ever is next in my life doesn't fit that mold completely. Then there's no reason for us to even give it a try to begin with in my opinion. It'll just be a huge waste of our time. And I've got no time to waste. I've got WAY to much life to live and WAY to much love to give. I absolutely refuse to waste anymore of it on someone who doesn't deserve it. I'm not putting in 100% maximum effort for someone that'll only put in 30% or 40% minimum effort in a relationship that's utterly meaningless. ALOT of men,women,etc claim to also be searching for marriage material along with parental material. But in reality all they really want is another poor sad sucker to drain dry until there's nothing left good about that person. Then once their done with said person,they just move onto another one to drain dry. Like a freakin parasitic infection. Meanwhile their damaging ways probably left behind a shell of said victim's former self. Which inevitably unleashes a cold hearted beast who'll cause hell in their future relationships. Depending on how solid said victim is after a bad break up with someone. Most women are carrying their hurt with them to the next relationship they get involved in like logue expecting the next to help carry the load with them. And that's not fare to whomever's next. Especially if said guy or gal is actaully trying their hardest to love them. Men are also guilty of this as well as women are. That's why when it comes to breaking up I don't carry my hurt with me,I'm more solid than the man of steel is while he's standing on the surface of the sun when it comes to dealing with my emotions during and after break ups. No matter how attractive they may appear visually. Their souls however are rotten to the very core. Women going through relationships like the one that you endured, can learn from your method. No need in wasting time in a relationship with someone that's willing to betray you time and time again. What most folks of today fail to realize is that dating someone is just a trial of test in order to see if your lover is worthy of becoming your husband/wife. Like a new job,if you don't check all boxes or you don't qualify for said position. Your application will be ultimately disqualified. And the highering manager will then move on to more worthy candidates. Same goes triple for dating because there's emotional attachments involved. As of the case of a highering manager they'll usually keep things strictly professional. But it's the same principles as a job and the first date is the interview,if you hear NEXT from the person across the table from you,that means you don't qualify and the same goes in reverse. There's WAY to many genuinely good and considerate men, women,etc being poisoned by venomous individuals now days. But still willing to stay for the sake of attempting to 'change him,her,etc'. When in reality alot of these kinds of women as well as men in these kinda relationships, sometimes NEVER realize is the fact that you can't change most people. Sometimes it's best to move onto something greater. For the sake of both your sanity and your purity. No use in allowing these people to abuse,manipulate,and lie to you. You did the noble thing,and others male,female,etc going through what you went through should learn how to master doing the same thing you did in that situation,period end of story no need for a sequel or even a prequel spinoff reboot. #illprayyoufindthelovethat🙏🏾 #yoursearchingfor💯

Modern life is so much easier but more stressful than previous generations. Now days happiness is the new catch phrase where earlier humans were more about survival.
