Thorin's 180 mood swings when talking to Bilbo in rhe film make me happy 🤣🤣 and yeah it's called Dragon Sickness because it's an obsession with gold, like dragons are known for. Smaug would always have been that way but it affected Thorin's grandfather and now it is affecting him. It's just the greed of having SOOO much. Like he probably wasn't lying in Lake Town when he told them he would help them rebuild but then being in the mountain has tainted all that and Bilbo knows it.

Thorin is a complicated character, when we meet him first, he has basically lost any trust for anyone, his people were turned away by the elves, forced to make their own living as refugees, trying to take back their homeland, he is the latest in a line of failed kings of a broken people and everyone is either his enemy or wants something from him, but over the course of their journey bilbo breaks through those walls and shows thorin there are good people, i believe that's why when the treasures sickness is taking him, bilbo is the only one thorin shows his true self with, he finally found someone he can trust.

When Bard goes "Because you gave your word", Thorin is actually shamed and you can see it in his eyes. But Dragon Sickness is hard to shake.

The connection between Galadriel and Elrond is that she's actually his mother in law. Also, now that you've watched all of these (and I very much enjoyed watching your reactions), I'd like to say a couple of things. I liked the Hobbit movies very much, and for various reasons that are mostly unimportant for lots of other fans. But I'm so glad we got to see some things actually on screen. How physically strong the elves are, for example. From Legolas going hand to hand in a fight with an orc, to Galadriel carrying Gandalf in her arms - the elves are so agile and elegant that we often forget that they are also really strong. There was that short moment of Legolas pulling up both Aragorn and Gimli together during the battle of Helm's Deep, but the scenes in the Hobbit movies conveyed it better (imo). Also, Legolas bleeding, Legolas running out of arrows - nice retroactive reason why he seems to never run out in the LotR movies. He likely learned from that and tends to collect his undamaged arrows wherever he can during a fight. 🙂 Another thing I really loved is how much lighter, less burdened Elrond seemed in the first movie, when he still doesn't know that Sauron is back. We actually get to see him smile! And the sword he uses is the same one that Arwen carries in the LotR movies. I could go on and on, but then I wouldn't know where to stop. Thank you for reacting to the extended editions.

The gems of Lasgalen (the white gems that Thranduil wants from the Mountain) were his wife’s. The dwarves bounded those white diamonds and they created a gift for the Queen of Mirkwood, Thranduil’s wife. But she died before the Dwarves give them back to her so Thranduil went to take them as an sentimental value heirloom of his wife. The dwarves asked more and more money as a payment and they didn’t want to give them back. That’s how everything started between them.

Based on the FILM, the 5 armies are: 1) Men 2) Elves 3) Dwarves 4) Dol Guldur Forces (Azog’s Army) 5) Gundabad Forces (Bolg’s Army) From the book, it is: 1) Men 2) Elves 3) Dwarves 4) Eagles 5) Goblins/Wargs/Orcs (Sources vary for some odd reason)

Has anyone seen the meme where Thranduil says, "You look like my son in his pirate phase." And it has side-by-side pictures of Bard and POTC Will Turner? Lol, I can't watch any movies in this universe anymore without thinking of it! Both characters look crazy similar.

The Master's fate is different in the book. There he was staying at the temporarily camp with the women, children and the old (instead of all going to Dale, in order to increase dramatic tension as audiences symphesizes with women and children being in danger rather than just soilders, they repeated that from Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith). After The Battle of Five Armies, Bard sent a big part of gold for him to rebuild Lake Town (though not in the water like before in case there would be another dragon attack, but closer to the shore) but he was stricken with Dragon Sickness, took the gold and escaped but he starved to death in the wilderness abandoned by his compansions (presumbley they took the gold when he was close to dying, their fate is unknown) and a new Master was elected who was more sympathetic and generally loved by the citizens. While Alfrid wasn't really from the book, he was inspired by the councilers mentioned in the Lake Town chapter. What happened with the councilers are unknown but it can be assumed they or some of them were the companions the followed the Master when he took the gold and fled.

Thranduil's wife the mother of Legolas had been taken prisoner to Gundabad, where she died the white jewel necklace Thranduil wanted back belonged to her which is why he fought so hard for them. He did not want any more of the treasure just the necklace.

Gandalf is the human/hobbit name for him, Mithrandir is the elven, Tharkun is the dwarven, and Olorin is his actual name

Hey, dont know if somone wrote this before. Balin (Santa Dwarf :D) goes after this story on a quest to retake khazad-dum (moria) it is his grave you see in the first lord of the rings movie. Also Erebor is not just important for its treasure. For the Dwarves it is important, because it is simply their home. For the Orcs and Gandalf it is important, bhecause of its stratigic position. Erebor is way up north of Mordor, Gondor and Loth-Lorien. Whoever controls the mountain, controls the north of middle-earth. The dwarfes of Erebor are also active in the time of lord of the rings. After Mordor tortured Golum, the Nazgul went to Erebor and asked the dwarfes were Bilbo lived. In exchange they would be in Saurons favor. The dwarfes said they would have to think about it. But that was just a ruse so they could send someone to Rivendell and warn them. After that Mordor sends the men of Rhun (those people with bird masks in the two towers) to take Erebor by force. In the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Erebor is basically the entire time under siege.

I will say this in regards of Thorin and Thranduil; practically two sides of the same coin. They both want to do right by other people, and wanted to achieve their goals. However, the both of them shared the flaws of not trusting each other and trying to be the better kings than the ones before them. So it is amazing how they both finally are able to confront their faults and fix them. Every time I see the final scene of Tauriel and Kili, my heart breaks even more now, because I know exactly how she’s feeling in that moment. Bard, Gandalf, and Bilbo are definitely are the real heroes as they endure hardships, but really do their best to not fall into despair but keep on to survive. If you wish for more adventure films, I wish to recommend The Chronicles of Narnia trilogy from Disney and Fox. Despite it’s short due to not having every story present, it gives a real good adventure story from the eyes of our main characters. 💚💛🤎🏹🛡⚔️💎

Mithrandir is Sindarin (an Elvish language) for "Grey Wanderer". The acorn Bilbo has here becomes the huge tree on top of Bag End.

Tolkien was a medieval language scholar who, among many other things, translated Beowulf. For ancient Saxon lords, greed was one of the worst possible failings, and dragons (like the one in Beowulf, on whom Smaug's characteristics are based) embody greed. A bad lord is one who hoards his treasure, rather than being generous with it to his followers. Thus, Thorin becomes susceptible to the vice of greed when he gets his hands on a dragon's hoard, and becomes a bad lord because of it. CS Lewis, close friend of Tolkien, explores a similar idea in "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader," in which a character sleeps on a dragon's treasure with dragonish thoughts in his head, and actually turns into a dragon.

Galadriel is literally the most powerful being in Middle Earth by this time. The Wizards were forbidden to show their true selves openly, which was why they were clad in mortal bodies. They could die. Sauron as the Enemy is of course more powerful, but I'm not talking about him yet. You have no idea how truly OP Galadriel was.

I think they didn't get some things because they spoke over Balin's explanation of the dragon sickness, how Smaug's very presence has corrupted the gold

It is the complex relation between thranduil and the dwarves that makes the future friendship between gimli and legolas so intresting, becourse thranduil the father of legolas father did actually imprisoned gloin, the father of gimli

30:00 Mount Gundabad was the place Aule/Mahal placed Durin I to sleep before he eventually woke up and walked Middle Earth. Thus, the Dwarves have a special meaning for that Mountain where they would sometimes have meetings, before orcs came, took it and started the war between the Dwarves and Orcs

Fun fact Smaug is the smallest of the dragons. During the 1st Age when they were many dragons most were either 10-20 times as big. The largest being able to stand on all 4's where each foot is on top of a different mountain peak. Also the grandchildren of The Bard and the King of the Dwarves fought together in the War of the Ring against Men and Orcs of Rhun

Mithrandir is indeed the elves name for Gandalf, it translates to "Grey Pilgrim".

The mountain fortress Legolas and Tauriel go to isn't Minas Morgul (it's very, VERY far from there) but Mount Gundabad, which is where the Dwarvish race was actually born way back in the beginning of time. Eventually, the orcs took it over, as they so often do...almost every orc stronghold is someplace they captured, rather than something they built themselves.

This part in the book is very short and very ridiculous (well, not if you consider that it's for children). Bard is a simple city guard who doesn't appear before this moment. He just shoots a normal arrow at the only vulnerable spot of Smaug's belly (which is a hole in a chest armour made of gems...) because A BIRD flight next to his head and told him. Because Bard has the superpower of understanding the birds. 16:28 - Again, Thorin is their king. 21:53 - As far as I remember, by this time Saruman has already joined Sauron. He did this and at the council he tried to downplay everything to give Sauron time to recover. 26:41 - Here they made Thranduil unnecessarily mean. In the book it's clearly stated that though he shows up for his gems, he brought food because Elves are good folks and the people of Esgaroth and the Elves of Mirkwood have regular trading relations so they're kind of allies. 35:17 - It's not in this video but his insult to Thranduil, "pointy-eared princess", is gold. 36:01 - Dwarfs are extremely dangerous in battle. In the Silmarillion they were the only specie able to defeat the first dragons. 37:20 - What tactically doesn't make sense is for Elves to jump over a shield wall, defeating the purpose of a shield wall.

Thank you for watching the extended editions! I was absolutely dumbfounded that a lot of the Sauron/Gandalf/Galadriel fight scenes in the fortress were cut in the movie edition…especially the part where Galadriel obliterates that Orc and before that, that Orc exposing that Gandalf was wearing one of the elven rings of power. Why would they ever edit down this pivotal scene that was so bad ass? In any case, it’s great that you got to see all these editions scenes that remind you hows epic Tolkien’s work is.

The only two people who ever lived in Erebor were Balin and Thorin. And Balin was like 7 or 8 when the dragon came. At the time of the Hobbit, Thorin is supposed to be close to 195.

The "sickness" is Dragon Sickness, basically like super-greed in the presence of tons of gold (not sure if it had to specifically be a dragon's gold, it's been forever) that affects humans, dwarves, elves, and dragons. Wasn't some of Morgoth's essence concentrated in all gold, so gathering too much caused the sickness? I think I remember reading that somewhere...

Gandalf have many names in Middle Earth. Gandalf (Meaning Wand Elf) is what he's known in the North (The Shire and area of Eriador plus Dale, Lake Town and Rhovanion, the area between Misty Mountains and Mirkwood), Mithrandir (meaning The Grey Wanderer) is what he is known as among the elves and the people of Gondor. In The Undying Lands he was known as Olórin, which was his original name. In Harad he's known as Incánus and he's known by the dwarves as Tharkûn. In Rohan, he is known as Gandalf Greyhame. Saruman's name is what he got from the people of Rohan, meaning "man of skill" or "man of cunning". His original name in Valinor was Curumo (meaning Skilled Man or Cunning One) and the elves called him Curunír (meaning Man of Skill). In Quenya (the latin of the elves compaired to the more common Sindarin) he is known as Tarindor, meaning "Wiseminded Man".

Supposedly, Smaug was the smallest and wimpiest of all the great dragons.

The fortress of Gundabad was originally a sacred place of the dwarves as it was there that Durin I The Deathless, one of the dwarf fathers woke before traveling Middle Earth in search of his kind. Since then it has been overrun by orcs and been used as a strong hold for Sauron's forces, being used in The Angmar War in early Third Age, which caused the downfall of Arnor, The Battle of Five Armies, and presumbley The War of the North, which happened around the same time as The Battle of Pelenor Fields, where Lothlorien, Mirkwood and Erebor was attacked by Sauron's forces from Dol Guldur and an army of Easterlings.

I never sew anyone talk about this. When Thorin and Bard are talking through the hole when the camera turns to Thorin the hole is in the shape of a diamond 💎.

In the movie The Armies are: 1. Daín's dwarves (plus Thorin's company). 2. The Elves of Mirkwood. 3. The Men of Lake Town. 4. Azog's orcs from Dol Guldur. 5. Bolg's orcs from Gundabad (plus the bats). In the book the last two armies are: 1. Orcs of Gundabad and Dol Guldur. 2. The Wargs. Note that Azog isn't the leader as he died at Battle of Azanurbizar at the hands of Daín II Ironfoot, instead it's Bolg and unlike the film, he gets killed by Beorn in his bear form.

Laketown woman hiding behind the pole is Mrs Bloom (Orlando's mother) Mithrandir: Mith = grey, Randir = wanderer/pilgrim. "The Grey Pilgrim. That's what they used to call me."

You apparently didn't realize the line thorin says "I'll not part with a ssssingle coin! Not... one... piece of it!". That's exactly what Smaug said in the last film, which shows how much like Smaug Thorin has become, he has become so into The Dragon Sickness that he's willing to sit on his treasure and guard it with his very life, not even use it for trade.

If y'all are a fan of the Beatles, consider doing a reaction to the three-part documentary Peter Jackson directed about the making of their album Let it Be, and their rooftop concert. Jackson went through something like 56 hours or footage and 150 hours of audio and edited together an eight hours series. Being both a Peter Jackson AND Beatles fan, the film Get Back is a trip. And it's cool to see Jackson's epic sensibility get focused on another of his great passions, The Beatles, of all things.

‘Dragon sickness’ is Greed. Which makes you crazy and bad. And it follows every hoard. Especially big ones. So this hoard has a strong sickness over it. Thorin’s is worse because of the circumstances.

One thing I like in this film, is that we're used to the idea of The One Ring driving someone mad in this way, and I guess we think of that as something unique to the ring. But it's just avarice, dialed up to 1000 through its magical corrupting nature. So we see similar magical and non-magical greed afflicting the minds of Thorin, King Thranduil, the Mayor of Laketown etc throughout these films. Greed is such a big theme of this trilogy, the amassed wealth is what drew Smaug to the mountain in the first place. Our protagonist is the one that resists the various sources of comfort and greed, focusing on the simple pleasures, but that in and of itself is bittersweet irony because we know what the ring is going to do to him over the coming years.

Gosh I love how Thorin's face changes so quickly in the scene from 23:44 How he looks at Bilbo! And how Bilbo always stands up for Thorin I can't they are so in love I can't ªªªh

I haven't rewatched this movie since it came out pretty much, so I only just now realized that Smaug destroying Laketown was much more thrilling to watch than Drogon destroying King's Landing. Just my opinion though, but the seeing him set the entire town on fire in two fly-by's is more gripping and shocking than the slower way it happened for King's Landing where they focused more on showing everyone panicking. It's a huge city vs relatively small town of course, but I'm just saying I prefer the shock factor of seeing it happen really fast vs the drawn out drama. (and I'm not talking about how dumb the sequence was in game of thrones with Daenerys, I just mean the dragon setting fire to the city part which was built up the entire series of how scary it should be... seeing it done better in this movie made me realize that even that could have been done better in GoT)

According to the legendarium, Gundabad was once the first mansion of the Dwarves. It was where Durin woke alone.

What Thorin developed is dragon sickness, the sickness that comes from gold and treasure, that's why he got angry and possessive (it's in the book)

One thing I like about galadriel is she's not the queen of her kingdom. She's the lady. Because the king and queen left and out of respect her and celaborn became the Lord and Lady.

I always imagine the kid used to fire the arrow at Smaug living the rest of his life with messed up nose and a huge scar across his face from the bowstring... lol

Well, Thorin's grandfather and then father had one of four the dwarves rings of power. I think that is where the dragon sickness came from.

In the book the whole scene goes a bit differently. Bard isn't a fisherman but the Captain of Guards of Laketown and after the dwarves leave for The Lonely Mountain the towns people talk about how "rivers of gold will be running" soon (as they anticipiate riches coming into town, starting trades again like in the past before Smaug ruined Dale and Erebor). When Smaug starts to arrive the towns folk and the guards think that the light at the mountain is Thorin and company starting to smithing again but Bard realizes that Smaug is on the way, sounds the alarm and orders the people to evacuate the town and the guards to shoot with Black Arrows (which are normal arrows colored black basically). Smaug starts burn the town down and eventually the guards lose hope and abandon Bard to fight the dragon alone. The Master escapes in his golden boat along with the rest of the town folk. Bard makes his last stand and he is about to shoot his last arrow, when the thrush from earlier tells him about the bare spot on Smaug's chest (the bird heard Bilbo telling the dwarves about this and flew off to Bard, as the men of Dale could understand thrushes) and he manages to hit the spot which causes the dragon die from the fatal wound crashes into the burning remains of the town. The scale and the material of the Black Arrow was changed in the movie to make it more plausable to kill Smaug (who is about as long as two Boeng 747, including the tail and the wingspan of two Boeng 747), which is way bigger than Tolkien would have imagined him to be.

Dragons hoard gold & are gripped by "gold fever." Thorin is also taken by the same "gold fever" that took his father/grandfather back in the day.

She uses the same phial "The Light Of Earendil" that she gives to Frodo in LOTR during that scene at Dol Goldur when she holds up the light against Sauron

If you'd stop talking you might actually pick up some plot points.

Mithrandir IS Gandalf's Elven name. He has several names, actually: Many are my names in many countries: "Mithrandir among the Elves, Tharkûn to the Dwarves; Olórin I was in my youth in the West that is forgotten, in the South Incánus, in the North Gandalf. To the East, I go not."

In an interview Lee said that when Saruman says Leave Soren to me he means it. He's not evil yet in these movies. I dislike this scene but what saves it for me is Lee's acting

Kili says "Amralime" to Tauriel in Khudzul, a dwarven language. Amral means love, and the "im" and "e" together imply "my." So he is basically basically saying, "You are my love." And from her reaction I absolutely DO think she understood him, she was just caught off guard and not willing to admit it. I will always ship Kili and Tauriel, and yeah, I love original Tolkien, but I love what PJ and Philippa Boyens brought to The Hobbit movies, and I unabashedly love them. There are only two MENTIONS of women in the entirety of The Hobbit (much as I love the book), so having all the dwarves have real personalities in these movies, so we love them individually -- and giving us a fantastic female character like Tauriel, this amazing warrior and the captain of the guard -- plus another forbidden romance echoing Aragorn and Arwen (and Beren and Luthen, etc.) with Kili and Tauriel is food for my soul. I don't think Tauriel ever loved Legolas. I think she admired and cared for him, and was uncertain about handling his feelings for her. She was also hurt by Thranduil's open classism (she is a "lesser" Silvan elf, while Thranduil and Legolas are of the Sindar, or Grey Elves). But I do think she deeply loved Kili. And I loved that Thranduil recognized that in the end. PS -- I don't give Thranduil a ton of credit for "helping" the Lake Town people because he had an ulterior motive. He wasn't there to help and did not lift a finger to help the dwarves years back. He wants the necklace/jewels.

Here's how i look at why Gandalf wanted to help the dwarves reclaim Erebor. If Sauron manipulated and controlled Smaug, this part of Middle Earth would fall to his invading forces. During the events of the battle in Return of the King, Sauron had orcs invading Lothlorien, Mirkwood, Erebor, Dale etc.

Thank you for trying not to swear on your channel. That's actually one of the reasons I really love your channel, that you show such decency towards the audience, as well as to the characters, even the 'villains'.

Can you imagine what Smaug's caloric intake must be? How many calories can the dwarves he ate sixty years ago have contained?

RINGS OF POWER.....; ill tell you the MAIN reason in short why it will be bad! Amazon Does NOT have the copyrights to The Silmarillion, only Hobbit and LoTR. So they are using the LoTR universe\lore and creating their own story within it. They have to LITERALLY tiptoe around the events of the book. Which means every single characters backstory is Wonky as hell 🤪 Its like if I bought the rights to Harry Potter and then decided to create a big budget film predating the events of the originalfilms , not asking for J.K.Rowling's permission, and then BLASTING across the world that its cannon to the films... But better 😏😏🤔 like it just doesn't work that way! (Oh and then I plan to create my own Harry Potter movie afterward) Cuz you know Amazon is gonna create their own version of The Hobbit and LoTR next….🙅‍♂️🤦‍♂️

25:01 It is sentement like Thorin's which keep our world so bleak. Instead of it letting their past suffering softening their hearts to plight of others, they let themselves become hard and cruel until they themselves are harbangers of suffering.

Bilbo ALMOST brought Thorin back.

The Arkenstone isn't really as corruptable as The Ring, it's just it is the value of it that corrupts Thorin because it is the symbol of the right to rule and since he has become The King of Erebor now that it is free from Smaug and he has reclaimed his Kingdom, it feels like he should have it like his grandfather had. It's just the Dragon Sickness that affects from the gold (which caused the dragon to come in the first place) is taken a hold on him like it did to Thrór making him greedy, angry, fierce, paranoid and losing his sanity, makes it seep into the Arkenstone (hence why Balin says it's better that it would be the best if it remained lost rather than found). The fact that Smaug has been lying on the treasure for so long, his Dragon Sickness seeped out of him and into all the gold made the whole thing a lot worse hence why Thorin quickly fell to it compaired to his grandpa, who got it more slowly as he got more and more gold (plus he had one of the Dwarven Rings of Power, while it couldn't corrupt the dwarvs like with the men, their greed and ability to find gold increased which was a catalyst for Dragon Sickness, even if Sauron managed to get four of the Rings while the other was melted by dragon fire, he still could affect the dwarves, he had gotten The Rings of Men and therefore he could control the Nazgûl even from a far distance).

You can't say that Erebor wasn't hard-won! Yes, they didn't kill Smaug but boy did they a lot of hard work to get the kingdom back. They traveled ALL THE WAY from The Shire to Erebor, they got captured and almost eaten by Three Trolls, they got chased by Azog throughout the journey, walked through The Misty Mountain in the rain and almost got killed Stone Giants, they got captured by Goblins and nearly killed by them, escaped the place, got attacked by Azog and his orcs at the cliff with the forest burning there, saved by eagles, attacked by Beorn in bear form and dangerously close to upsetting him by appearing in front of him uninvited, got lost through Mirkwood, captured by giant spiders then by the Mirkwood elves and imprissioned by them, escaped The Woodland Realm in barrels while being attacked by orcs yet again, being smuggled into Lake Town, captured by the Town Guards only to negociate their freedom with promises of gold to the people, walking all the way to Erebor and getting to the hidden door, struggeling to find it and almost give up on it, attempted to escape Smaug and finally attemtping and failing to kill Smaug. I would say it really was hard-won, even if they should have hold on to their promise and give them part of the treasure to help the people of Lake Town rebuild Dale and Esgaroth.

Saruman was already in league with Sauron at this point too, he only joined the White counsels assault on Dol Guldur because it would have been suspicious if he kept trying to stall them (like in part 1)

I find it interesting to see asiatic people among the northmen of Esgaroth. It makes sense as it is a trade city at the border to the rhûnic steppe.

The staff that Radagast gives Gandalf, it's the same one as he has in Fellowship, excpet due to all the fighting, all the branches have been snapped off and the jewel is missing (presumebly it was broken at some point ot Gandalf got rid of it as it caused too much trouble than it's being worth.

Scenes with glad you're on this movie is what pisses me off about rings of power, if she doesn't have to be some sort of Joan of Arc wannabe to be powerful woman.

So as of the end of this movie Saruman is still good, even if in a egotistical sort of way. When he says "Leave Sauron to me" after the battle, he actually means it and fully intends to deal with the big bad. At this point in the story, Saruman is the strongest of the Wizards on middle earth and Isengard is in a good strategic position to keep an eye on Mordor. In between the end of this movie and the Fellowship of the Ring, Saruman starts using the magic swirly seeing stone to spy on Sauron (with the intention of passing the information to the good team), and that's when Sauron starts to corrupt him and convince him that the only way to survive is to join him.

That place was theatre of a constant warfare between orcs and dwarves, constantly taken and retaken from one side or the other. Also, I personally dislike the esthetic they gave to Gundabad: not only it doesn't appear "dwarf-made" at all, but also the fortress that was covered in huge, rusted plates of iron was Carn Dûm, the old capital of the reign of Angmar, founded by the Witch King, the leader of the Nazgûl, during his campaign to destroy the kingdom of Arnor.

29:57 Yes it is a whole different place than Minas Morgul . That was the Witch Kings original kingdom couple thousand years before this when he was trying to conquer the North a while ago. When Sauron was defeated in the end of the Second Age ( fellowship of the ring prologue) his soul went into hiding along with the 9 Ringwraiths. When the Witch King awoken out of hiding, he planned to make his own War campaign in the North as a means of a distraction to let Sauron slowly come back but also to try and take out as many places as possible and try to get them from every angle ( hence Mordor is all the way South East of Middle Earth, Angmar is all the way in the North ) That place or Weathertop you see or Amon Sul in Fellowship of the Ring where Frodo gets stabbed by the Witch King, that place was originally a watchtower like Aragorn said for the people in Arnor in the Second Age, but also Arnor still used it in the Third Age until of course when the Witch King came about with this conquest in the North. That entire place was ransacked and abandoned all because of him . He waged war upon the men slowly but surely and practically destroyed the northern kingdom of Aragorns ancestors by himself and with his own army of Uruks , trolls and men that he got to his side . Imagine why on remembering Aragorn fighting them so fiercely in Fellowship of the ring and fighting all the Ringwraiths. Practically was filled with vengeance because of what they did to his people's kingdom that they were stepping on . It's fun when you realize all that history that comes together in one scene when you don't realize it at first . When you find out bout all these stories , it's just insane how Tolkien made all this lol. I hope to see a show on Angmars War in the North, a lot of tragic events happened around that time in the early parts of the Third Age, speaking of Minas Morgul but after the Witch King was pushed out of his Kingdom by Elrond and couple others he fled to Mordor and that's when Sauron told them to fully go in and take over Minas Ithil ( what originally it was called when the men of Gondor was still guarding it and was their other big city along with Minas Tirith) but then they took it over , desecrated it and turned it into the Evil place you see now . The Tower of Sorcery is what Minas Morgul translates to in English. That's why the weathertop scene is one of my most favorite scenes of all time . Lots of history just in this one shot . Forgot to say but that fortress they're near is called Carn Dum . The fortress of the location. Mount Gundabad if I'm not mistaken was one of the main parts of Angmar I'm pretty sure. So much info that happens in this one location and the history.

I understand why some people are content with Tauriel addition in the films, I however wish it had not been so. Nothing against the actor just her storyline and the love triangle does nothing to attendance the story line of the films, au contraire.

She has been going on about Women-Trees since the saga started. I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, since Tolkien meticulously wrote down every detail of this world he created. Anytime anyone had a question about Middle-Earth's lore, he had an answer, except one "What happened to the Entwives? Where did they go?" Tolkien was always like "lol idk" so if THE AUTHOR of the story doesn't know what happened to them, how're we supposed to know?

A note about the elf king thandruel, he learned from his mistake with the first attack on the lonely mountain, when he gave no help, hence why he brought provisions for lake town, yes he wanted their help as a force, but yes he truly DID learn his lesson.

Shoot straight shoot straight don't shoot in the air. Do you have any idea how bow and arrow and gravity works? Just because they're living in a world with magic doesn't mean they can cast magic on their arrow and make them shoot like bullets. And they're on the hill. If you want them to shoot straight and make sure the arrow can penetrate Dwarven armor I don't think that will work as well as LotR opening battle against Orc.

How is it that she can make the greatest comparison that the treasure is like the ring and it corrupts, but then 5 seconds later just for get that?

I can't remember if it was expanded in the movies, but Thranduil and the elves' claim on the "stargems" didn't sound much stronger than Smeagol's "It's our birthday and we wants it, Deagol". Like, the gems were mined by the dwarfs, and I don't remember if the elves legit bought them or not.
