I watched the performance on the Ed Sullivan Show when the Beatles first played this in '64 and I could have sworn the close-up was on George using a piece of metal--maybe a cigarette lighter--to strike the opening distorted note. Just my two-cents. I was fifteen and blown away by it back then.

Michael, I had to remind myself this was you and Dom playing, not the Beatles. Something in my mind was telling me "this is the Beatles! Michael and Dom are just showing us what it looked like!" I so deeply appreciate how hard you worked to provide all this incredible detail! I can imagine people watching your videos centuries from now in order to take their appreciation of the Beatles to the highest level. I watch cooking shows sometimes, and the judging chefs say "what makes this dish great is I feel the love you put into it." That's how this video made me feel. So on a couple detail points -- Was the feedback physically created by the bass making the guitar string vibrate -- now and in the original recording? And the trill you mentioned, at what time in the video does that occur? I'm not sure what to listen and watch for. Thank you!!!

John Lennon always claimed that this was the first deliberate use of guitar feedback in a hit record. The B-side of this single,"She's a Woman," was so good that Doug Sahm and his band, The Sir Douglas Quintet, borrowed the rhythm track for their first hit, "She's About a Mover."

Man, I had no idea you were still making videos. I idolized your lessons on how to play like John and George when I was in a Beatles cover band back in high school.

My favourite Beatles single (I know that Susanna Hoffs says so too) and when it goes onto the final up against You Can't Do That, Thank You Girl and so on it's very near the top. Another great video Michael. Two questions; what cymbals are you using? Second, what year is your J-160e? I hope you will someday be able to complete your Ringo Kit with a Jazzfest! They are EXPENSIVE. I know. It looks like you are playing a Supraphonic. Correct? I actually stumbled upon a listing, on Craigslist, for a snare, a floor tom and a practice pad for $50. I thought, what kind of junk is that! Then I looked carefully and it looked like a BOP Jazzfest. No, it COULDN'T be! One of the most sought after snare drums in a package of 3 for $50. No.....I emailed the guy and asked for a better picture of the snare. It was BOP, but I couldn't tell if it was a Pioneer (6-lug) snare or the 8-lug Jazzfest. I was at work and called my wife and told her to drop everything and go get this! When she got the drum I asked her to call me to tell me how many lugs....1,2,3,4,5,6............7,8!!!! I couldn't believe it. It turned out to be a 1964 all original BOP Jazzfest in excellent condition. Unreal. I had to call the guy and tell him what he just sold me. He was actually thrilled with it all. A huge Beatles collector/musician getting this prized drum for literally nothing compared to it's worth. I'll never flip and sell it. It sits with my 1965 original BOP kit. Absolutely love it.......Before this, I played a 1965 Jazzfest that was re-wrapped by Jack Lawton. Sounds awesome. Keep up the excellent videos! Love them! Oh, the other two items were a cheap old early Japanese pre Tama floor tom and an old Ludwig black rubber practice pad. Not to bad for $50!!! I did however, go over to the guys house, hang out for an afternoon and gave him some more money just to express my thankfulness.

The annoying thing I find about the drum playing is that he stops playing the ride cymbal on every second beat. It just gets on my nerves!
