I Fixed A Rain Water Leak That You Might Have Too!! How I fixed a rain water leak in the cab of my truck!
In this video I go over how I am dealing with (and hopefully fixed) a rain water leak on the passenger side of my truck. This truck is a 1995 GMC Suburban GMT400 sometimes referred to as the OBS body style. The outside window seals of the doors are all original which means they are 26 years old. Although they weren't in the worst shape in the world it was definitely an upgrade to replace them. I went to LMC Truck and ordered a new set and installed.

I would suggest cleaning the weep holes on the bottom of the door

"I might have fixed a rain water leak that you might have too!!" I wish you would have at least tried the hose test before buttoning everything back up. I'm also getting a bit of moisture on the driver's side floor on my Suburban, so it looks like checking the mirror bolts is a good starting point. Actually I need the mirrors replaced, so I can maybe fix both issues together. I'm glad to know that the window seals are so cheap and easy to replace.

Not to be negative, but why wouldn’t you have tested the leak issue after you replaced the parts and put the whole thing back together?

It’s good to see that the LMC Truck window sweeps were a great fit, Ive been weary as I’ve heard too many of their parts not fitting right, and it sucks cause they have a great selection for out trucks.

If you know it's going to rain, leave the truck outside and lay toilet paper down on the floor where the carpet got wet. You can tell at a glance if the paper gets wet, then you still have a leak. I sprinkle baby powder sometimes too, if it changes color, then there's moisture present. Famous last words, "it didn't feel wet".

I stapled mine on with the heavy duty T50 staples. I supported the door panel where I was going to staple and stapled it. Then bent the back sides over with pliers.

If u plan to swap out the inner sweeps use a hand rivet gun theres a metal strip in the lower section thats how interior shops do it to reattach them

After you did everything to just the door , did you do another leak test ? Then put the seat and carpet back ? You left out if it stop the leak !

Please tell me you put some silicone behind that mirror assembly and also around the bolt assemblies. Everything looks great. I'm sure you're relieved and happy again.

The bottom of the doors are made with drain holes to expel the water out the bottom if it does not drain you will continue to have a problem the moisture is also condensation which should go down and out NOT waterfall out up holes inside.

Use thicker staples, replace/ reinstall those parts and use some rubber cement! Rubber cement is not that strong yet it can still give you a better seal.

You should of tested the door again with putting a hose with running water on it again to see if it did solve the water leak issue. I wanted to see if these actually solve the issue. One thing to check as well it the bottom door weap drain holes to make sure they are not clogged because if you have water coming out of higher hole location in the door, the weap holes are not doing their job.

Uggggggggg!!! Third time mentioning this: Get yourself some quality Silicone spray. Anything rubber spray/coat and then assemble. The propellent will evaporate and you will have much easier assemblies and you prolong the life of the rubber. FDA grade is best as you can use it in your kitchen.

So the question for you Jimmy, is how have the sweeps held up. Often these aftermarket pieces shrink from UV exposure and the fit goes wonky. But i really want these to work lol.

JUST A TIP, ADD SILICONE TO THE MIRROR BOLTS AND AROUND THE RUBBER GASKET... I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2004 EXPEDITION REAR WINDOW BY THE TAILGATE. I ADDED SILICONE ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW AND BY THE BOLTS AND FIX THE ISSUE.. I HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU.
