When this is all over, if you still find yourself in a hole mentally, that’s depression. Some people can’t recover mentally by themselves from traumatic events like the ones you’ve been through. If when this is over you still feel like crying and music hurts to listen to and you’re napping all the time, please get therapy. Depression is easily treated. You’re always in my thoughts. ❤️

It's very important and common to start therapy after diagnosis to help process the emotional roller coaster of diagnosis and treatment. No one should have to figure out how to process all of those feelings alone, on top of the physical struggle. Mental health is always important, but even more so during times of increased stress. Stress can interfere with healing, so it's a good idea to reach out for help anytime there's a period of prolonged stress that's not well managed. In short, I assume she's already been offered therapy and is doing it, but if not, there is no need to wait until treatment is done. It's actually the opposite, please start therapy ASAP. It's important to take care of the whole body, physically and mentally. No one is perfect, so everyone can benefit from therapy. Take care everyone!
@cbadbeachbabe69
@cbadbeachbabe69 3 года назад
Depression is NOT easily treated for everyone. Therapy can be helpful but it can also NOT help and remember you are just as valid if you still find yourself depressed even after getting help. It’s ok to not feel ok. You aren’t lesser or permanently broken just because you struggle even after trying every remedy you can think of. Things always eventually get better and remember you are loved and always will be no matter what you’re going through.
@tamarad4146
@tamarad4146 3 года назад
@@BGing_Foodie I agree, it's better to get it as soon as possible! I'm just trying to point out that the mental struggle won't necessarily dissipate along with a successful cancer treatment and that further treatment (e.g., therapy) might be necessary to reinstate health and well-being. :)

Hey I hope this isn’t rude to ask but do you mind me asking questions? Because for a month or two I’ve been SOOOO depressed because I found myself looking things up on google so I scared myself, How exactly does a tumor feel ? I know it’s supposed to be a lump and most likely cancerous if immovable but I have a small very movable lump under my skin below my stomach do you think I should worry?
@jj8673
@jj8673 2 года назад
@@charvon.s3350 hi Charvon, I'm going on a Romee binge and just now saw your comment. You're right that if it's moveable and tiny it's probably nothing but please go and check it out. Our bodies are complex things and if you found something that didn't use to be there you're better off going to a doctor and checking it. It will give you relief and you will stop questioning yourself about it and if anything needs to be treated the sooner the better. In the meantime try not to over think. There's a lot of reasons why you might have a small lump and a lot of them are not cancer related and that's why a health care professional is the best person to help. Just thought I would leave a comment because I saw myself in you as I've been down that road before :)
@charvon.s3350

@@jj8673 trust me you don’t know how much this comment helped me because honestly I’ve dug myself in a google hole and honestly I’ve been soooo scared and depressed Bc The word cancer is just scary in general you know? @jj8673 2 года назад
@@charvon.s3350 oh I know exactly how you feel. Google is dangerous and I've scared myself to death sometimes before as well. But I can say from experience is that the best thing is to go to the doctor because for me I wasn't relived until I saw mine. And like you saw with Romee it might be necessary to do some testing before they can tell you what it is or you might be lucky and they might know straight away. I've been through the testing phase and it is very nerve racking so if you find yourself in that position try to reassure yourself that it can be a lot of different things, try not to focus on the negative things and keep your mind busy with something else. And hey if you need any further chatting with someone who's been there before feel free to give us a shout :)

Stage IV lung cancer patient here, kept alive for over 6 yrs by immunotherapy. I get through it by reminding myself that cancer does what it wants, when it wants to. Getting myself worked up into panic attacks isn’t good for me or my quality of life. I have had lousy CT scans only to have a good one two months later. Be mindful, but don’t let fear ruin your life ♥️

I knit and crochet when I get overwhelmed. It helps. I pick patterns that I have to concentrate on so I don't make mistakes. I also listen to music a lot. Crying happy tears for you that it was good news! As far as anxiety goes, I have a “menu” that I actually drew and designed to look cute and it’s hanging on my wall and it’s all things that help me when I begin to spiral into a panic attack. “Go for a walk” “Buy flowers and create an arrangement” “Color while listening to Disney music” are just a few of the examples, but as silly as it sounds it can help when life feels out of control to be able to pick from a menu something that’ll help calm you down in that moment. Otherwise, I’m still trying to figure out the whole anxiety thing. 😅 Let me know if you find a secret for it haha

That's such a relief, Romee! Finding lumps and bumps on your body is always scary. I can only imagine what it's like when you're already dealing with cancer. And why, oh why, do we always feel these types of things at night? When we have a long, uncertain night in front of us. It's good that you were able to be seen quickly. Is there someone you can talk to who specialises in mental health in cancer patients? It seems like it should be something that's offered to you as part of the treatment.
@carolleduc578
@carolleduc578 3 года назад
I definitely agree with this suggestion. I had Hodgkins Disease when I was in my twenties and newly married. The fears are overwhelming and the anxiety from all the tests and waiting for results is too much for one person to handle, and friends and family cannot be your only support. They are suffering as well. I started seeing a psychologist who specializes in this area and she was immensely helpful as I learned to cope with these fears. When you lose your sense of “wellness” as a young person it never really returns and these fears become your reality. Professionals are trained to help you deal with this and since my Hodgkins was over 50 years ago, I am surprised (and sad) to know that mental health issues are not routinely treated in a cancer diagnosis. Your experience, Romee, mirrors mine in so many ways and I pray you go on to enjoy a long and beautiful life as I have !
@bubbieble

In the Netherlands it is being offered from the hospital as a part of the treatment. Romee doesn’t talk about it, but you can trust she is being offered the mental help. Cancer scare is a real thing, when you have cancer you just don’t trust your body anymore. Totally normal, not very fun though, but normal 😉

What a relief. I'm so glad that it was just a fat lump. You and Lianna are so cute. Romee, you are stronger than you give yourself credit for. As for your hair: I worked with a lady who was depressed when she lost her hair twice due to chemo. She kept her head shaved until she received her 5 year clear diagnosis from her doctors. She took control of if she had hair or not since she couldn't control anything else. She said that it was one less thing to worry about. Afterwards, she let it grow out to find that it was curly when it had never been curly before! She was thrilled. Hugs from Texas.

I’ve had thyroid cancer and you are right, every lump and bump automatically puts back in the fear of it being cancer. It gets easier to manage with more non cancerous finds but it takes awhile. I had to remind myself I got through thyroid cancer, I am more aware of taking better care of myself and if I get cancer again, I’ll get through it. It’s completely normal to freak out but also remind yourself even though you’ve had cancer before, doesn’t mean you will get it again.

Oh Romee. I'm so sorry you're going through this. While I haven't had cancer, I did have a period over the summer where I kept having panic attacks, every day, for seemingly no reason. I lost my appetite, dropped 30 pounds, kept feeling like I was having heart attacks to the point where I went to the hospital to check. I actually kept up with your videos because I was really inspired by your ability to keep it together and keep going throughout your treatment! dealing with this has made me understand that unfortunately, the only way to combat anxiety is to push through it. I can remember in june lying on my bed with my hand on my heart, thinking I would have to go to the ER a third time, for hours until I finally thought to myself: you have no control. there are very few things in this life that we do actually have control of. affirmations can be nice, but they won't will your circumstances into being better. you live through the pain and anxiety, and if it doesn't kill you, you learn to tolerate it, and if you're lucky, you have people who will stick by you and listen to your fears, and they'll love you through it. that love is all we have. I'm sending you my love across the atlantic, and I hope you're feeling that from all your fans, friends and family.

It's such a scary thing to go through As someone who's dealt with this and works in the medical field now, my number one tip is to see a specialist to work through your PTSD and learn ways to manage the anxiety related to all things medical and health going forward. There is a type of therapy called EMDR, which is done to help people work through past trauma.Then CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which can teach you the tools to manage your (absolutely valid) feelings going forward. I'm so relieved it's not cancerous. I've been a subscriber for a while and I know there's nothing you can't handle - but I'm so grateful you don't have to handle that. I've had to deal with anxiety for many years and here are some things I've learned if they can be helpful to you: I sometimes wanted to spare people from worrying along with me, but some of my closest family/friends tell me that they want me to tell them when I'm really worried so they can help bear the burden. It worries them but that they would like to know anyway so that they can even just sit with me in the knowledge of it. I'm so glad you picked up your camera and told us!! We are always here for you in that way :)) Another thing that works for me is acceptance that sometimes things are going to be super anxiety provoking and to take care of myself when that happens - to cry if I need to, to be extra nice to myself, to be around people that lift me up, to be on my own if that's what will be most calming, to listen to myself and to do anything that helps me during those times - for me it's often Headspace meditation or a shower or anything physical like a walk around the block - anything that helps even 10 percent I'll try and do - and to know that the anxious feelings about worrisome things come in waves and somehow that is comforting for me to recognize. Sending hugs, wishes for an easier road coming up and a reminder of how incredibly badass you are.

Hi Romee, Matthew Posa Adventures is my favorite RU-vid channel whenever I need to escape from stress, anxiety, or any noise that overwhelms my thoughts. The adventures are entertaining, and relaxing to join alongside in the serene settings. The camera angles and conversations are as close as you can virtually get to actually being with nature and also chatting with a friend. I like his work much as I like your work. You're making a positive impact on everyone who watches just by sharing your story💞 Take care

Romee, you are such a sweet soul. I am a cancer survivor of seven years and even though I only see my oncologist once a year for labs and an exam I still get extremely anxious the week or two before. It is scary but you must have faith. You are an amazing young woman and strong but it is normal that with all the trauma cancer brings that sometimes you will struggle with the fear and uncertainty. It is obvious you are loved and supported. I will pray for you.

Oh Romee! I empathise completely. I have a different cancer to you (bowel). I too had a scare, but it was a lipoma on my back, another scare - cyst in my breast & now 5 chemos in to my 12 chemo treatment today my oncologist has postponed future treatment until I have an urgent CT scan some time in the next 2 weeks to look into why I am experiencing more pain at the original tumour site. Tears have been shed today, despite a chemo side effect of mine being painful burning tears. It’s horrible to think our futures will probably be littered with these scares. The only advice I can give is as the following text… ‘Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.’ Thinking of you & sending love xx

Omg I was so relieved to hear that it wasn't cancer. I do have anxiety actually. I have MS and quite a few other conditions (I'm 45) and I get anxious All the time especially after I get my annual MRIs. I actually take medication for my anxiety. You should talk to your doctor and see what they recommend.

@@lin2thez341 I take Klonopin for anxiety. Mines bad bad. I have nighttime anxiety too. It sucks! I am on so many meds for MS and RA and chronic pain (from both of those) that I'm not worried about becoming addicted to any of them. I only take my meds as prescribed. It's so scary not to. Ya know? But good call on the Ativan.

I had a lump on my throat when I read your header. So happy and stoked that you're fine. When you go head on against cancer these things happen. What you need to do is ..... 1. Be with your love ones. They give you support and strength that you'll need to beat this thing. 2. Stay as positive as you can even when things seems like they're going bad. I know it's hard to do, but you're an amazing person , a fighter and you'll beat this freakling thing. I know it you will beat it . I have prayed for your full recovery every day and will continue to do so until you tell us that you have won this battle. You will announce that to the world that you're cancer free. Because you're no quitter.

So glad it’s not cancer! Something you should really consider is seeing a therapist/psychiatrist about everything going on in your life! This is a super difficult thing for anyone to go through and have a therapist to talk to and help you with coping mechanisms would I’m sure be so helpful for you!! I see a therapist just about my regular depression and anxiety and to help my husband and I work through being newly married. It helps so much!!

You're title did scare me, but luckily the first comment showing had someone saying "glad it wasn't cancer", so I was immediately calmed. I can understand your fear upon feeling the lump. I just went through cancer treatment and anything awry these days sets my mind racing because I haven't truly reached the 'big markers' where I can say I'm cancer free. The 'limbo stage', as I call it, is tough. If you need to talk to someone if you're anxiety is really hard on you, do so. It will help you immensely. Stress and anxiety is really tough not only mentally, but it creates physical issues as well. Hang in there sister -- you got this!🤗

I have struggled with health anxiety ever since my mother was sick and died so I completely understand what you are going through/ talking about! It is completely normal to feel that way as this is a really traumatic thing to go through. I know you asked for some advise and I would really suggest for you to try to see a therapist to deal with it as soon as possible and to try to talk through your feelings. I would recommend trying CBT therapy as this is something that really helped me! I really wish you all the best! I have become a big fan of yours through these videos and I really can’t wait until you finally beat cancer!! You can do it! 💪🏻💪🏻

I have PTSD as a consequence of my son's suicide in 2008: It never goes away. What I do is set a specific time not to think back, or worry about bills, tying up loose ends, etc. If it's after banking hours, I'll decide to put off stuff until Monday, for example, then not think about anxiety-provoking situations. Give yourself weekends 'off'. Leave the medical shit for the weekdays. Set time aside to escape your mental prison. It may take a lot of practice, but you can do it. This is how I'm able to keep on going. Have a happy first break this weekend!

I actually have PTSD from my brother having gone thru cancer. I cant possibly wrap my mind around what you guys that have the disease go thru because quite honestly it was traumatic to me. I cried many times before his scans, I still get quite scared. He had a large diffuse b cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I still remember the day he texted me that back in 2012. He was 32 at the time. He just turned 41. Every time his birthday comes around, Im relieved. I wish you MANY MANY years of a life that is cancer free and pain free. Im sorry you went thru this scare. Im cheering for you here on the other side of the planet.

Aww, I just want to give you a great big hug! I'm an advanced breast cancer survivor (borderline Stage 4), and I know that feeling well. I also just subscribed. ETA: Oh, I was THRILLED when my hair started coming back! As far as dealing with anxiety from cancer scares, I spent two years feeling an anvil was over me ready to drop anytime cos my oncologist told me if it came back in that time, it would then be incurable. How did I deal with it? Leaning on friends and family members, and also realizing I had no control over the situation. Thankfully it didn't happen, and I've been cancer free since Feb. 19, 2010.

As for myself , it took time to start dealing with the follow up without having a sense of "I know that they will find something!" . I totally understand what do you mean with "I am not ready to have hairs again", because it was a very traumatic part of my journey. 10 years later I can tell you that you will, at some point, forget that you had cancer. Of course, even after 10 years I am stressed with every medical check I am doing, because I know that things don't always happen to others. And whenever I brush my hairs and I see lots of them falling, as it sometimes happens in stressful times, this reminds me of my cancer journey. So my advice is, give yourself time to heal, both mentally and physically and accept that you have been through a very traumatic journey, accept that you will need time, and that you will be scared, because it is perfectly normal. You will find your own way to stay calm and live every scan, or every medical check up in a better Way. And one day, you will realise that you haven't been thinking about cancer for weeks. Whish you all the best! ❤️

Hi I’m new to your channel and seen your post and I got a huge lump in my throat because I was so scared for you! I have a lot wrong with me however I’m old enough to be your mom lol I have lupus, fibromyalgia, pseudo tumor cerebrai, and if that’s not enough chronic migraines. This past year my daughter bought me a tea cup chihuahua and she has saved my life! She is my service animal and I wear her in a little pouch and take her everywhere. She can feel when my anxiety is bad and just cuddles up next me and I have to say the calm she brings me is a miracle. If you are in a position to get a service animal I highly recommend it!! You are always in my prayers and I’m so glad you are ok! I cried happy tears for you!!! 🥰❤️❤️

I am so relieved that it’s all okay! To answer your question, I am type one diabetic, I have been since I was 7, if it is poorly controlled it can lead to many complications which I have been paranoid about in the past. I just count my blessings every day and thank god I have not developed complications. I also remind myself that no matter what i’m going through there are thousands more worse off than me! My answer is I have have PTSD being a caretaker for my daughter who had brain cancer and died and 19. There are a lot of "triggers' (one of them being watching videos like this but I think I need to be here, following your journey. I feel like listening to you talk about how you feel, watching you endure, fall in love, spend time with friends, find the beauty and hold onto hopes helps me remember things I forgot that I need to remember and hold onto because they were beautiful. My daughter once told me "we are all one, same hand different fingers, what happens to me happens to everyone, and what happens to everyone happens to me, all the good stuff and the bad stuff, all the struggles, celebrations, learning, loving, working...we all share it. I am never alone mom, you will never be alone". I am watching you and remembering and if you recover and are well then she is too, in a way. That being said, never be afraid to share your fears, those wake you up late at night scary moments. People who love you want to help, want to listen, wish they could carry just a little bit for you so you don't have to carry it all. I would be happy from way over here to be your person if you run out of people or just need to add another one to your list. I am glad it was just fat, my daughter went through something similar near her hip. It actually was a kinda funny story after is was not longer terrifying. You are doing the hard work, healing vibes.

My mom always told me “don’t borrow trouble”. In other words, don’t worry or be anxious about the unknown. Hi Romee! I know exactly what you mean when you talk about feeling anxious in regards to health scares. I was recently diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and as a result I have been very anxious and worried about tests results and what it all means. I found the best way is to surround yourself with the best people. Those who you know will be with you and support you throughout your journey. Although from watching your videos you are definitely around some amazing friends and family! I find that letting out energy helps loads with relieving anxiety. Find another avenue to express yourself! I know RU-vid is your platform that you put a lot of energy into and is something that you enjoy. So whenever you feel anxious be creative with the camera! You don’t need to publish it. But at least it allows you to let go of that energy you have built up. Hope this helps! Xxx

Regarding your anxiety: I try to tell myself that freaking out is just a waste of energy and doesn't help whatsoever. Especially if you don't know yet, it's completely wasted energy for nothing. You still have time to freak out if it turns out to be bad. And even then, it doesn't really help or change anything. So you can just stop and try to use the energy and time for something else/more useful. I also try not to think about it, bc there is still time when I know for sure. This works remarkably well for me. It's way harder if I'm worried about somebody else, to be fair. Btw: this also works if you are pissed about something and really mad. Also, wasted energy and doesn't help.
