Said it before to you mate negative comments are usually jealousy coming through. You know what you are buying and you know how to sell them. Just keep doing what you're doing mate. And keep the content flowing because it's really really enjoyable buddy.
Chevvy Sparks are underrated mate , my neighbour is a nurse and drives one , it cost her £1500 for a 2012 model and it has a timing chain so very reliable and nippy the 1.2 will do 110mph and 0-60 in around 11secs so not bad and only £30 a year tax i believe
Chevy's are good cars - as a family we have done about 150k miles in 2 x Matiz and an Aveo - they lacked glamour coz of the Daewoo heritage - my wife is driving my old Matiz now - 59 plate that I happily paid £1985 for as a one owner sub 20k miles car. Not glamourous but effective - the only issue is the old emissions tech that make the road fund licence out of kilter with more modern cars. I suppose its do you pay £2k for an i10 with 95k miles for £30 a year road tax and see how long it lasts you or get 10 years out of a Matiz with 20k miles and swallow the £130 a year rfl? Personally I'd go low owners low mileage matiz - it was criminal the neglect James' Matiz got last year - in the end someone stole that car.
Good luck with those, you are a great dealer always very fair with your customers, you work hard for your living, keep these videos coming, always enjoyable
The Vauxhall Viva looks a nice car ... I had forgot that the Viva was back out there! It does look very similar to the i10 but that's not a bad thing 🙂 I do laugh about the car price experts, a motor will only sell for what someone is willing to pay for it .. simple! You price your car properly James, they don't hang about long, you well prepare your stock and sell at good value. If someone does come back with an issue you work with them to get it resolve ... all these actions generate repeat customers, thus grow a good business.
Looks like you been on a proper spending spree buddy, I hope you have enough left for fish and chips Friday 😂 well done buddy and a massive thanks as I'm up to 70 odd subscriptions tha ks to you
My first car was a Bedford Chevanne that clearly the seller knew a mate to get it the MOT 🤣 basically a van Chevette - much derived from the Viva if memory serves?
@@mrbigvanlife7130 a friends Chevette in the lovely (?) yellow they did was affectionately called the Shoveit 🤣 A completely different animal to another friends Chevette HS, which was as far removed from a Viva as you could get!
Mate what a selection of cars!!!!! I’ve been struggling to but at the moment but this fills me with loads of confidence. Buzzing to see the furrier content 👍🏾
You have to be brave and put high number of bids in and hope others miss a few. Drive today said Brigwater is dead so I wonder is other dealers are sitting on stock from December
@@ChopsGarage you are right when you say you have to be brave. Sometimes I over analyse everything and then result in less bids. Sometimes I’ve brought a car and thought why did I buy this only to sell it and still make a profit
Nice to see you got a vauxhall viva, they are the new chevy spark, their a good buy because mainly elderly people bought them so they aren't as ragged like corsa's etc are, dead reliable and most are low mileage they are a gm chevy design still and isn the newer spark in europe, its why they stopped selling them when in the uk when peugeot bought vauxhall/opel same as the vauxhall adam was dumped
Well done James I think you're doing really well and you make very interesting videos. I watch on tv with the Amazon Firestick so I don't get to comment as much as I'd like but all my comments would be positive and I just had to come on the PC to say thankyou very much James for all the entertaining videos. Its obvious you love the experience of having all these different cars and I love hearing about how they drive and how they differ. I always have an open mind when buying cars and rarely have I known what I'd end up with. Its all part of the fun. I've been very lucky.
Good video m8 "Didn't you do well" I think you did ignore the dreamers who say shoulv'e paid less theyr'e all rubbish you are showing us all how it should be done cant wait to see them all. good luck !!
Brilliant video James - really pleased that you have won a whole load of cars, it’s certainly going to make some excellent channel content. All power to your elbow!!! It’s going to be another very interesting few weeks!! 👍👏✊🚙🚘🚗
Funny things is they sit behind the Chevy Spark and Nissan Micra with me for Warranty claims, the emission sensors are to sensitive and the clutches go at about 80 and are twice the price on the 1.3 as other cars
The Vauxhall Viva is based of the Chevy Spark believe it or not! Textbook example of how amazing a difference the badge on the front does to a cars value!
Alot of vauxhalls are chevrolet. The mokka is based on something they do and I think the astra is too. Badge snobbery isn't it. Bit like audi a1 and soda fabia
@@welephant2013 Yep any car you buy these days, the badge on the front isn't necessarily indicative of what components are actually used and what car you are actually getting with all the outsourcing that goes one. I.e Peugeot engines in Ford's, Vauxhalls etc
@@sammytheseal2307 yeah I believe the diesel Renault engines are Nissan. So when people say they would never buy a certain car they aren't actually telling the truth because it was probably made by someone else anyway.
@@welephant2013 Other way around bud, Nissan and Mercedes 1.5dCi Diesels are Renault diesel engines. 2.0dCi were developed by Renault and Nissan jointly. Nissan have been owned by Renault anyway since the early 2000s
Hi James iam a long time subscriber and follow your videos, they are very influential. Can you give us a video explaining more how to register with BCA, Manheim and how to best source cars.
Cant wait to see these in the new showroom, if you dont sell them before you get chance to put them all in there, would make a good photo/advertisement of them all lined up with sale boards on them inside there
Some nice stock there, wouldn't say you've overpaid on any, but someones going to be a busy 🐝 in January. I think you could do with some sort of worksheet for each on a clipboard so you know where you are up to and what you are waiting on, as get this right and Mrs Chops could be in for a very nice valentines present 😂
It’s mad how car prices have changed, I bought a Suzuki Swift SZ-L in April last year for £6450 with 28k on it from a small family owned dealer. To buy my car today going by current values it would be almost a grand dearer with 36k miles on it. Glad I bought when I did. Nice work James keep these videos coming, it’s good viewing!
Your channel has made me realise ,tbh I had a fair idea anyway, just how little (decent/honest) car dealers actually make on each car,it's not the get rich quick profession most people think it is ,keep up the excellent work James
Well my job is done lol!! Thanks, I think people don't realise how little a dealer makes per car if they are going to receive the preparation and aftercare they want on these older cars
Great video mate, you'll be in big money when you get them all done, I only got a micra this week, but I'm trying to get stuck in to my long stayers, just pulling a freelander that needs a door out that I've had since spring, hopefully a good price now it's snowing. I think your bids were OK by the way mate.
Cheers buddy, good to have someone sensible reassure me they were ok. Kia was not good did not realise that a non cat one is only 3.5k and Im in 2k but the time delivered. But as its an old 100k car Im not going knock anything off and sell it for 3k Cat N or not
@@ChopsGarage OK bud, I'd definitely get a compressor now you've got loads of paint to do, get into using 2k primer filler from the gun, it's so thick and really helps prep, paint with your mask on near the door and you'll be OK.
That's a good selection of cars James, I love the Ibiza as these are very overlooked by those who end up with a Polo, Corsa or Fiesta. Vivas are decent enough too, not groundbreaking but a good and cheap to run commuter. I work for a Vauxhall dealer and we have little issues with them. That colour is 176, Sovereign Silver.
Seats suffer from badge snobbery. I got recovered in a brand new transit by the rac. Guy told me had never lifted a seat but lifts audis all day every day. Those seats are the same older tried and tested technology. Vauxhalls have ended up with a terrible used reputation. Again there are good ones and bad ones. Forget the badge. Just reading the rest of the comments. Think i was to late watching. Good to see you concentrating on the cars that work for you. Could you not get local council funding for an apprentice? I don't mean a car mechanic but as an honest car trader.
Hi James... and everyone else! I’m after some advice. Last week I bought a 2012 Astra on 100,000 miles with full service history and a recent timing belt change. I test drove it for 5 mins. I have a deposit of £300. They put a fresh mot on it a few days later and I paid the remaining £2700. £3000 total. On the receipt form, I signed off on the warranty section. It’s 60 days engine and gearbox with a max claim of £500. I’ve discovered a few issues however... Squealing sound from one of the drivers side wheels. Goes away when braking. A grinding sound coming from the underneath of the car I think. It happens when I’m in second gear and not accelerating. When car is idling, it was revving itself between 800rpm to 1100rpm. This has only happened once to be fair. I’m going to take it back to them to see what they can do, on Tuesday. I don’t feel happy with potentially having to pay towards anything. I’m certain the wheel issue for example will go down as wear and tear. I’d be fine with that, but it’s only been a week! If I’m told that either: -nothing is covered in the warranty I signed off on. Or -I must pay a contribution to the repairs. Can I ask for my money back? Under the consumer rights act. Many thanks
Top job,the ppl that are saying ur over paying havant realised how much prices have gone up since covid secondhand car market is really strong at the mo
When I think of the Viva, I think of the rebadged Daewoo Lacetti that Holden sold in Australia for a few years. That Vauxhall Viva looks much better! Looking forward to seeing how these cars go for you.
Congrats on securing some stock James, not sure why some people are being putting a negative spin on the purchase prices?? Things are absolutely insane in the used car market at the moment as you’ve stated many times and as a result retail prices are pushed up so I think you’ve done well considering. Plus I’ll add that your high level of attention to detail, customer care and car presentation is rare these days in the car trade. I’ve visited numerous car lots recently and a lot of the vehicles I’ve looked at that are up for retail are shocking I’d be embarrassed to have them on a forecourt! Look forward to the new stock arriving!
That little fabia is the 12v 1.2, and i think the other you did was the 6v, so it'll be slightly more pokey, and probably a bit more desireable. And i belive the viva is a Spark underneath! Very odd. I do find badge engineering fascinating to be fair, how cars have such different values depending on parent company, and badge, whereas the car is the same underneath. Like the Aygo, 107/108, c1 family. All of toyota quality but with french badges. Or the chinese cars being sold under MG and the old LDV MAXUS brand. The amount of rabbit holes you can go down on wikipedia on this stuff is crazy. Might sound a bit sad, but it is interesting. Especially how the same car is sold under so many differnt names across the world. I never knew the old astra D was sold under the chevy badge, but now I do. On a rabbit hole now after looking up the viva!
well stock issues comprehensively addressed in one go there - sorted ! The Viva was a GM car - as was Chevy - the Viva was the upgraded renewed Spark - came here as the Viva coz GM wanted am presence in the mini-car market and had withdrawn Chevy from the UK market so should be as bullet proof as a Spark.
Busy January ahead on the preparation front. Pretty decent mix. Cheap quick flips to to pay the bills and a few bigger profit cars to fund your lifestyle!
Great, all the best with the new stock. Reminds me of last January, it's how I first discovered your channel 👍 How long is going to take you to do the bloody Fiesta now? 😂😂
Well bought! It doesn't matter how much you pay or profit on a car, it's a lot more than having no cars in stock to sell; things will get back to normal later this year I'm sure. Keep moving forward!
What is better use of his time - fixing the Volvo and therefore missing all of this new stock, or securing all of this stock and coming to to Volvo later? Just think about it business wise...
My sister in law solder her 2dr 2011 Pug 107 Auto (MMT) with 55,000m for £2750 to Webuyanycar,if she went in Dec she could've got an £300 more,it was reasonable cond. Had some slight scuffs,no dents. The MMT was just about driveable,it was knackerd & going out, wasn't test driven buy the them thou. Burnt a lot of oil too!! She had been driving with hardly any oil for goodness how long,i changed the oil 2 yrs ago (had 1.5L oil when drained out) then 3 months ago a family member added some oil,it was empty then.
I Got all excited for a Few Seconds there. "James has Bought a Vauxhall Viva. I wonder if it's a Viva HB..!?" But No, they have just Revived the Name 😕😔😕 Thought for a Second you had bought an Oldie to Do up. The 'Viva HB' was my First Car in Uk. Which I paid £325 for in about 1973/74..!! And with help from Dad learned how to Maintain a Car. Hence my slightly Stupid Thought, but it will be interesting to see a Modern Version. I had mine for about 3 years until on a Very Cold winters Day. I planted her into a Ditch and Tree..!! More Sadface Emoji 😩😠😩 As for Negative comments there is Always someone out there that, Could Do Better in Terms of Buying. Your Doing it and Earning a Small Crust on most of the Cars. "Ignore the Twats." Cheers James. P.s. I have been in Oz since 1980, so had no idea about the Revival of the Viva..!! Some Defence for being an Idiot..! Maybe..! 😎
As someone has already said the Vauxhall Viva is based on the GM M400 platform built by (Changwon) GM Korea ( maybe hence the Hyundai look alike) also badges as the Holden Spark in Aus/NZ, Opel Karl(Europe) VinFast Fadil (Vietnam)
Wow a veritable torrent. I know a lot of dealerships have a January sale so maybe there is less bidding for new stock and more trying to clear the existing. Not a problem you luckily have and it may have meant less competition. A good range there too. Looking forward to seeing how they fare
My late brother-in-law had one of those Kia Ceed’s and did over 150000 miles in it and it was bulletproof. They only sold it when he passed. And that’s a better colour.
Just sold a viva, good little cars but the clutches go every year. Only cheap to replace luckily. Probably sell quick. So when you recruiting an apprentice 😉
I had a Viva from new (SL with the Winter Pack ((heated seats and steering wheel)) and paid £8962.40 for it off the peg. They're still selling for that now, after being discontinued for 3 years. The manager of my local Vauxhall body shop loves repairing them as they're bullet proof, they take a punch and the engines are superb. I regret getting rid of mine, they're super motor's!
@@ChopsGarage also, the Viva is a close relative of the newer Chevrolet Spark. Korean built by GM, nothing to do with Hyundai. Pure chevrolet, still sold in other markets. Indestructible.
I'm not sure the Chevvy Spark is based on the Matiz, Chevrolet cars from that age (I think post 2010) were generally based on older generation GM platforms.
It is indeed the third generation Matiz, and was badged and sold as a Daewoo Matiz in other countries! Daewoo were GM since the early 2000s I once had a 2003 Tacuma, it had a Vauxhall (GM) engine
Good selection. Be interesting to see how the Kia goes and what trade-ins you get on this lot, if any. I think you need some help with cosmetic vehicle prep or you may end up with cash tied up in stock not ready for sale. The Spark reminded me of the Aveo - are they too old for you?
The spark is a revamped version of the old Matiz as James mentioned in the video. I'd say they "compete" with Fiestas and Corsas whereas the Aveo is more the size of an Astra, Punto Grande etc
I haven't seen many vivas around so getting a bumper might be an issue. If you can repair it with no issues happy days. You are right about cheap cars selling easily . The majority of working people are on low wages doing care jobs etc so can't afford £10 k cars .
Knock knock Who's there? Fiesta Fiesta who That bloody Fiesta that's sat in the corner for 3 months being ignored, can you sort me out soon pretty please Lol, I had to say it 😂
Lets hope the yaris is japanese and not french. When you get the yaris leave it overnight then take it out for a test drive when it's cold to see if the gearbox is crunching.
I have a Kia ceed SW with 225,000 miles same engine, box and turbo 100,000 just ran in and Kia ceed spec are 1,2and 3 however A spec 4 is very limited top spec 👍
I would be interested to see you get the 61 reg- 17 reg shape of Kia Rio into stock, I know you've had some older shape Rio's in the past and done OK out of them. I'm on my 2nd Rio now, first one was a 12 reg and now I have a 66 reg both with the 1.25 petrol ⛽ engines, no work needed on either other than consumables. Excellent cars. I suppose it's a matter of time before you get one of these through the garage shutters.
The Kia Ceed is basically a Hyundai i30 so should be a safe bet. Only thing the diesels really suffer from is weak clutches and slave cylinders but that's not too bad for an older diesel when compared to all the DPF/DMF/Injector/Turbo issues the French and German diesels tend to have!
@@ChopsGarage First to sell, or the one/s to sell quickest from putting up to banking the cash ? IF the buyers are out there I cannot see any taking much past a week, if the expensive one doesnt sell its a good dealer trade away and just take £500 profit rather than a bag of sand.
that business premium charge is a license to print money 25 years ago i think was only about 40 pounds on the sort of stock you buy ,10k car maybe around 100 pounds.
@@TheKnobCalledTone. yes of course u fool but never the less some of those charges go into 3,4,500 pounds and more per car. Your so clever what is that charge for ?
It's basically a Hyundai i30 estate, pretty bulletproof apart from clutch/hydraulic issues on the diesels. But that's not too bad for an older diesel. DPF/DMF/Injector/Turbo issues less common on the 1.6 crdi compares to various French or German alternatives 👍
Think you'll do ok with all those cars, ignore anyone that's says you've paid too much as they haven't a clue and there are always know it alls on RU-vid unfortunately,if you ever need anyone to come over for the day to help you clean the cars give is a shout,if you paid my fuel to get to you and back approx £15 I'd work for nothing as would love to meet you and learn more about what you do,look forward to your next one james, cheers
My spark was looking good but then it developed a miss on road test, probably a coil pack, I got my 13 plate before prices went up at 750 bid mate, about a year ago(!)
