I Got a New Job! | Come To My Interview With Me! | GRWM For My Interview
Hey guys! I'm super excited to begin this new adventure in my nursing career and to learn new things in this awesome specialty! I wanted to take you guys along for the interview and include a little 'get ready with me'. Like I mentioned in the video, I will be making a more in depth video about what I will be doing in my new job in more detail as well as a 'day in the life of a plastic surgery nurse'.

Congratulations on your new job and good for you for applying for a new job because you can! I said the same thing for my interview when I left med-surg at one hospital (and I loved it there) to pursue an opportunity in an ICU in a specialty hospital. I prayed that if the job was for me, that I would get it and that door would open for me....and if it was not right for me, that I would understand when I did not get the job. Thankfully I got the job! I have reflected on how much I have grown and learned since I started 1.5 years ago. I know that the beginning struggles of starting a new job and feeling like a new nurse all over again will be difficult, but all that you'll learn and the challenges you'll overcome will be worth it. I wish you the best for this dream job you're pursuing!

Just found your channel so idk if you’ve done this already or not, but I’d realllyyy appreciate a video with the types of interview questions they ask, some responses that you keep in mind to have ready, what to wear, etc. for a nursing interview I’m so happy for you btw. Yay i started working outpatient surgery back in January best move yet i did 9 months in Med/Surg and 4 yrs in the ER one off my best units to learn in but burn out was real !!! Youre going to love it best decision yet!! Its so much less stress congrats so excited for u

Congratulations!! I love that you live by faith and your trust in God you seem like such a kind soul. I can just tell this was absolutely meant to be for you. I love stories like this!! definitely reignites my faith bc I can loose sight of that sometimes and get lost in negativity and thinking the world is working against me. But every now and then I hear stories like this just reminds me to say a prayer and have faith, my time will come god willing. CONGRATS! Best of luck at the new job.

Congratulations!! This is literally my story! I don't want to stay working in a hospital for long. I just want to work in a hospital to get the experience. Do you feel like you would lose working in an outpatient facility vs a hospital in regards to payment?

Marisol Ponce thank you so much!! If I understand your question correctly, the answer is probably no. I don’t know much about the pay in the outpatient setting because there are different types and specialties. I’m not too familiar with it but I can speak in my case, I definitely make more in outpatient surgery now compared to working in the hospital.

Haha! I don't really do anything extra. I shampoo and condition usually using L'Oreal Elvive total repair 5 (yellow bottle) every 3-4 days or so. I try to not over heat my hair and I always use a heat protectant. I also use a hair oil (mainly focusing on the mid to ends of the hair) after styling the hair to give it extra shine and smoothness. I have naturally curly hair so it can get pretty dry so this step I never skip especially when I straighten my hair. I'm pretty bad at keeping up with trims but I will be getting a haircut pretty soon! I hope that helps!

Congrats!! How long have you been a nurse? And how long after you graduated did it take you to get hired as an RN?

For a little over 3 years. I got hired right after nursing school in the awkward period where everyone graduated but hadn't taken the NCLEX yet but we had our authorization to test so I was just waiting for my scheduled test date in order to start working/training (1 month after I graduated). In the meantime, I interviewed and got hired but didn't actually start working until about a month or so after I had already taken and passed the NCLEX. I hope that explanation made sense!

So did you give your four week notice before you did your interview and found out you got the job? I'm thinking of leaving my LTAC hospital now (my first RN job) and looking for more acute care and I don't know how people usually go about the timing of giving a notice. What do you recommend?

I gave my notice the day after my interview once I already knew I got hired. I didn't want to quit at the hospital until I knew for sure I had the other job. I don't know your situation and I know some of my co-workers at the hospital who actually put in their notice while they were still looking for a job and going through interviews. It is a risk only you and your family can decide to take depending on your situation. I hope that helped and best wishes on your next journey!
