Thanks for sharing. Yah i just demonetized this week for reused content. I thought it was okay since i wasn't receiving any notice and I see so many channels uploading the same video over and over again. Now I guess i have to delete them.. thanks for sharing what you did.

Great advice. I didn't know about the 20-second thing. Did you mean a maximum of 20 seconds within a single video, or can I take multiple clips from different channels as long as each clip is used for less than 20 seconds? If, for instance, I use three videos, each around 10 seconds long, resulting in a total of about 30 seconds, would that be acceptable? My idea is to create a 1-minute short video with 30 seconds for explaining a situation with subtitles and the remaining 20-30 seconds for my commentary.

I got refused monetization for reused content on a channel that I own. I redid all of my videos with more graphics, narration, added a channel trailer, about me page etc. I did everything that all of the videos about reused content say to do. I reapplied and got refused. I then appealed using a video of my editing process which is extensive and they just said no. RU-vid is very strict about such things and are literally ruining peoples lives by demonetizing their channels. The only hope my my channel is to add affiliate marketing to it and hopefully that will bring in some money. After spending about 300 hours of hard work reinventing my channel, and for youtube to say no, is very demoralizing considering there are other channels that are monetized and haven't half the editing of my videos. RU-vid and google are all c@nts with too much power.

Thanks for sharing valuable info. I have no videos on my channel yet but I already made a few of them getting ready to start uploading. What I did was to get a video clip from youtube or tiktok and edit the video in 30-40 seconds long and put my own Japanese voiceover and Japanese subtitles targeting specifically viewers in Japan or anyone who speaks Japanese. I wasn't simply translating the words spoken from the original contents... actually, I made my own script and made my own storyline explaining what is happening in the video. I used the remaining 20-30 seconds to add my own commentary. I only plan to make shorts for now... what do you think about my plan?

Guys, I'm making gameplay videos and got flagged as Reused Videos. Those gameplays are my own gameplays, I recorded them. See, I'm not using other people's content but still.

Need clarity...newbie question. If I make a RU-vid video without showing my face, record my own voice to add original commentary, and use the RU-vid audio library for music and sounds, BUT I use video footage and/or images from the Pexels website, is this still considered "reused content"? If it is, what do I need to do with the video footage or images, so that I don't get red-flagged from RU-vid? They make it so confusing in their policy, when I read it, I am left even more puzzled. Can you please give me some examples of what I need to change on the videos that I use from Pexels? Thanks a bunch!

At 4:25 you were discussing about "Edited footage from other creators where you add a storyline or commentary". Does adding lyrics in the video count as Commentary? Say for example a random audio song (just audio) (could be "copyright claim" not copyright strike), for which you add plenty of slides on your own with various images and add lyrics flowing through minute by minute, can these videos if available in a channel gets accepted for monetization in your view? So as regards Epidemic Sound: I subscribed to the site and I love the incredible variety of music they have available. Supposedly it is all Copyright Free and can be used as long as you have a subscription. If you end your Sub, the videos you made using the music are not affected. But recently at the very same time my Channel was rejected for Monetization (just a few days ago) Epidemic Sound put Content ID Claims on 4 of my Shorts. In each Short I use 60 seconds of Epidemic music as soundtrack for a series of manga cover images. Almost 30 different images in a 60-second Short. And yet Epidemic still placed Content ID Claims (which are not the same as Copyright Claims, but I think damage the reputation of the channel anyway). I complained about this and Epidemic Sound responded: "Shorts visibility and ad revenue are not affected. The copyright protected content detected doesn't affect your Short due to the Shorts monetization policy."

I believe you made a mistake of deleting videos in which you captured clips from other websites and did your voice over. The real reason was "slide show videos".

How to know reused content? I have to many videos..how many days after upload videos yt detected reuse,, is there a possibility of old videos now only detect by yt a reused?

My Channel was flagged with reused Content Violation.. I re-apply after one month removing some videos I felt would be considered as reused content, and I got rejected again.. now I removed all the previous videos and uploading videos with my Presence.. Will this help me monetize again..

I started a reaction channel last year. I was showing my face. I talked about music and films and for all of my hard work and passion, i only got 29 susbcribers. I couldnt get that channel monetised. I don't think youtubers like watching a super black man reacting to music and Movies. I thought I had a chance but I learned. if you are ugly dont show your face.

I just got demonetized for reused content. I can reapply in 90 days to the RU-vid Partner program. But what happens to my watch hours> I had 6000-7000 watch hours and over 25K subs. Do I have to start from zero again?
