Mizushima Shuhei wrote this song in 1913 when he was 15 years old while he was a student at a youth army officers school and presented it during a school festival. The principle got angry for calling the school bags “beggars bags” and he got punished by being put into a curfew for couple weeks. His Japanese language teacher was actually impressed by his lyrics and happily praised him for it. The song became popular among other army officer schools around the country and students would sing it until the end of ww2 in 1945. Mizushima himself passed away in 1947.
At least the grunts on the front lines calling in artillery aren’t the ones who have to account for wind, drop and travel time. The ones who are doing the math are the artillerymen.
@@nickthenuker7916 yes, true. My senior high school in indonesia was just 20 meter behind the center of field artillery school of Indonesia national army. I can play and enter that place if the front door are open. Hell yeah, that's also make my boy scout instructor even came from that place. Since I was boy scout lead, I have more time to spend in there and have chance to see how they teach even see the hell of calculating shoot trajectory and to be precise if in college you need at least 8 number behind zero they did 16 number and if can 24 number behind zero while we now even just need to dumb and just use rangefinder etc. etc. and yes, they even told to use manual calculation on ASTROS missile launcher
Me and the boys storming the School Cafe to gain support of the popular kids on a coup against the weak student council! And then getting sent to an Hour long detention.... Which you only serve 30 minutes!!!!!
@@PtolemaicArmy_Guerrilla Did you really not get it, or are you sarcastic? They're joking that their father (I don't know the gender of the Japanese person so I'm using they) would beat them with a trouser belt if they admitted this - it's a joke about the strictness of Asian parents. I'm from Eastern Europe and Boomer parents in my part of the world tend to be just as strict (and in some ways worse) as the stereotypical Asian parents.
This song was written I believe prior to World War 2, and because there was no musical sheet or addendum added, it fit well with the Battle Hymn of the Republic.
@@themangledwither It's a folk song of kind of indeterminate origin, so you're both just as likely to be right! What's important here is that it is very American, and usually very left leaning

@Hans sure does they were so angry at their high school standards that they committed unspeakable atrocities on every race they could get their hands on to let go of the anger
@Hans PH Department of Tourism said "Its more fun in the Philippines" so the IJA starts migrating there although IJA had too much fun when they organized a sportsfest in Bataan and PH and US got mad cause they'll have to pay for it so they challenge the IJA to play PUBG in forest, hills and villages then they play COD in Manila
1:10 as a Japanese student , this is so fucking relatable . I guess Japanese students will forever be tormented by having to learn old Chinese texts as long as japan exists .
@@g.-4678 you can’t blame the japanese ancestors as they pretty much didn’t know what or who arabic people were so they chose a chinese based writing system
@@MasonGreenWeed trust me, Americans butcher any other language as much as the Japanese. And it’s not even modern Chinese, it’s centuries old Chinese literature.
Some of my friends and I came up with an English version of this back when we were officer candidates, altered slightly to fit an American ROTC environment. Our instructors were not amused but it spread like wildfire in the battalion. It took a written order from the colonel threatening anyone caught singing it with summary disenrollment to make it stop, and even then we kept at it whenever cadre weren’t around.
The yanks parodying the confederate’s music- degrading song about them being traitors. The Japanese parodying the United state’s music- “I HATE MATH >:(“
I mean Why do you think the civil war started? Many conflicting interests at governmental and social level all culminating in the final straw of slavery? No thats dumb, its cuz Robert E. lee told lincoln (a massive fuckin' nerd) that math was hella gay and got his boys stonewall and Jeff to back him up.
