For those wondering, tentsurushan is an onomatopoeia simulating the sound of a shamisen ( 3 - stringed japanese instrument ). It is also used in japanese war cries or chants.
@@James-cq2bj did you know that kamikaze pilots were highly trained and experienced pilots. They were not fresh out of college. A good kamikaze hit could render an aircraft carrier useless for months.
One of my teachers had a friend whose father was a Kamikaze pilot and was apparently about to take off on a mission after the ceremony that takes place before a flight but apparently the mission was canceled last minute after they received news that the Emperor had surrendered. My teacher showed us photos of the Kamikaze memorabilia that his friend's father had including a headband with some logo on it. It was pretty cool.
@33 SixtyNine I mean almost everyone during that time was somewhat racist, so that's no suprise. But the Japanese didn't really improve their imagine with their whole conquer China and the Pacific stuff.
No. In the Japanese philosophy, the cherry tree is the symbol of the Buddhist concept of anitya that is to say "impermanence". In other words, even if cherry blossom is beautiful, you shouldn't attach to its beauty because it doesn't last, just like your own person, the people you love, your country, or even the God themselves.
Read or heard somewhere about an American veteran. He was a radio operator and would intercept/over hear Kamikaze pilots final words before crashing into ships. He had said that most would yell "Okaasan", which means mother in Japanese. Most of their final thoughts and words were cries/memories of their mother
I wouldnt be surprised at all if that was indeed true. I read a book titled On Killing and it was said that many dying soldiers last words were calling out to their mothers.
I flew a plane once on a game, I said 'I am your new pilot from Japan, welcome aboard Kamikaze Airlines, our destination is American warship' then crashed it
One day, I listened to this song and went through the last letters of kamikaze pilots. It was honestly one of the most humanizing experiences I’ve ever had. It pushed me to tears.
Wasps:”Omg that human got too close and I literally had to sting him was so scary 😭” Bees:”Farewell empress, I shall defend our colony with honor and pride. “
@Eros Matthew Montallana That’s not true. The young Japanese men in this war were told it was a divine war, and the best way to die was in battle, the most dishonorable being surrendering. They were brainwashed into doing what they were instructed to do. Some of them didn’t do it, they executed them publicly. That really made them wanna do it.
@@cloverskey9087 Well you are right for 99.0% of that paragraph but the song which is clearly a kamikaze song clearly shows them thinking about their mother. (I think? I havent watched the video for a long time) And plus the "Aching heart" pretty sure alot of kamikazes thought about the people and country they love.
@@ibigboy6950 If you were going to die, you were instructed to think of things you love, it was supposed to make them happy. Those soldiers were very brainwashed
@@cloverskey9087 yes they were, but they were happy like YEEEEEE No they weren't Even in the song you can see in the lyrics their sadness They did it because they believed, like you said, a divine war, but, that doesn't mean that they were happy They were sad that they will die and leave their relatives sad and that if they returned they will face consequences or called cowards
@@ultor18 is an onomatope simulating the sound of a three-stringed musical instrument. It is used as “ainote” (interjection chant) in Japanese traditional songs. The singer will insert this around 2:20 in the first song of the following link.
Ha that happened to me I was doing a airsoft gun fight and I was told to deploy run straight in and deploy my airsoft grenade and I got shot over 20 times they hurt
fun fact: Kamikaze pilots did not have only enough fuel for one way trip the japanese made sure to have it so Kamikaze pliots could return and try again, the resone why they made sure they could come back was because of the low amount of resoucres japan had to make more planes
When the weeb American goes into your country thinking he's an expert on Japanese culture, so you strap him to a Zero to experience Japanese culture firsthand
Goodbye, my beloved Kyoko-chan. I loved you so much; but even then you were already engaged, so it was very painful for me. Thinking only of your happiness, I suppressed the urge to whisper into your ear that I loved you. I love you still. -Ryōji Uehara
i like what you did with the images. (although theyre not the same planes or people) how the first one is the pilots getting ready, next is the pilot taking off, and the final one is the plane crashing into the ship. Very clever.
@@bonktonk74 which makes me really wonder because I got recommended this video after I listened to Hava nagiula (comments are anti semitic af but the music is lit)
@@jimmycarburator2012 hey same! i was playing RF in a modded plane and i just had this urge to steer into an enemy vehicle so i first searched for battotai but since the algorithm knows i search up that song a lot recently it recommended me this video... there was also a mod that adds the lunge mine so i just keep charging with it towards a tank in a game
I feel for these gentlemen who sacrificed their lives for their loved ones.. and I developed some sort of feeling of missing them without even knowing them just by being aware of how brave they were and how selfless..
Japan: **loads explosives on ships and planes and trucks** North Korea in distance: wait, why do I see japanese trucks and planes and ships speeding twords us. Wait, why do I here some kind of yelling, NO OH GOD PLEASE NO NO NO, NOOOOOOOOOO
Geez this song is so depressing. It represents the pinnacle of fanaticism the within the Japanese government in fighting a lost war. They were losing in the Pacific, Burma, deadlocked in China and their end was nigh yet they still sent thousands of pilots to die for their hopeless cause, many of whom could have helped Japan recover post-WW2 if they had survived. My condolences to the Japanese children and wives who had to lose their fathers and husbands.
Many of children, women and, unborn children inside of pregnant women waiting for their husbands were also melted away by atomic bomb, so I guess at least population balance was met.
I am not allowed at the neighborhood Hawaiian-themed cookout anymore after dressing like a Japanese pilot and playing this at full blast on my car radio.
Was depressing then, now it's fucking attrocious, knowing these boys made the ultimate sacrifice over and over for 4 years and they didn't even win, all of this for nothing. F.
Funfact: Kamikaze word was developed in the mongol invasion of japan because the mongol failed because of hurricane so kamikaze meaning was the god's wind
I absolutely love this song honestly. It's a really good song to honour those who gave up their lives for a greater cause, regardless of when or where they're from, or what they did
"It's all a lie that they left filled with braveness and joy, crying, "Long live the emperor!" They were sheep at a slaughterhouse. Everybody was looking down and tottering. Some were unable to stand up and were carried and pushed into their aircraft by maintenance soldiers." -Tsuneo Watanabe, editor-in-chief of the Yomiuri Shimbun.
The Other Japanese Pilots: "WE CAN'T TAKE THIS SHIP DOWN!!! IT'S TOO PROTECTED!!!" that one japanese kamikaze pilot with sunglasses: *"guys, imma do what's call a Purogēmā no ugoki"*
I will write it just in case。 Soldiers who fought in the war should not be blamed. What should be blamed is the high-ranking people who started the war and set up the operation.
Not to mention the high ranking people brainwashed the entire population into thinking the Japanese race was superior and should rule the world, aswell as making the citizens believe discomfort and poverty was a “great honor”
@@shauryasinghrathore3316 that’s messed up, while British people did commit crimes towards you, they still offered protection and most of those men who committed those crimes were ordered to
If we think now: the most of kamikaze were volunteers, volunteer to serve the army is always somebody with good mentality, and not a bad person... everybody who died there.., we must consent them.. because those persons had their own life... maybe, maybe instead being kamikaze they could be scientifics, poets, artists..... But they died... At more they died for the ideology that was not the best, and their country lost anyway.., so its very sad
"At more they died for the ideology that was not the best, and their country lost anyway" This wasn't really the reason a lot of men did such an act, They died in service of their Emperor who was established as a God in the Shinto belief and such they believed their death would help in a way of protecting their families and Emperor in a final stand to inflict as many losses as possible upon the enemy to prevent them from making it to the Home islands. There are cases where such attacks proved effective such as the Kamikaze attack on USS Bunker Hill where 393 sailors and airmen were killed and 264 wounded, this was all dealt by two A6M5 Zero pilots; meanwhile the Ship was heavily damaged as a result/
This song is extremely somber to me. They face death in the eyes, and all they can do is to accept the fact. They're hoping and praying for something better.
This is really when Bushido honor is taken to it's logical extreme. Dying on a plane, far away from your brothers to reach you, nothing but cold water greeting you from below, all just to leave a fixable dent on a battleship. That's when bravado crosses into futility.
The above translation might be wrong partially I have tried to retranslated the part which I felt something wrong with↓ 雨よ降れ 降れ *Let it rain. Let it rain せめても、雨よ *At least we want to have rain. 整備する身のこの辛さ *How painful we feel to prepare plains for attack. この辛さ *How painful we feel. I hope our all posterity will not experience the grief of war in the future
I just discovered this channel. Some of these songs would be cool to play for students in a history class if it’s relevant to topic. Thank you for uploading these! I gained a new appreciation.
Lot of people make jokes about the song but forgot that its the Hymne of Kamikaze Pilots which flew into theire death for the Own Country People and Family May they all Rest in Peace
This was by far the saddest season of the whole anime. We saw the departure of so many characters that, love them or hate them, once they left, we knew how much we needed them. The battle of Berlin was an amazing scene and I can't stop looking at it again and again and again. Goodbye to a beloved series.
I hear they're doing a reboot in China! Something about continuing the World War series keeps circulating! I'm excited for the third iteration, whole new cast, entirely new nations and alliances. Sounds like it's rounding up to be very interesting!
@@cheevo7680 Apparently they’re switching the focus to Russia and Ukraine. Can’t wait to see how this new direction will turn out. Edit: This comment was meant as a joke, but now I really regret saying this.
