I have cancer (part 2 of 2) 

It is really sad this, even I don´t share Bernie´s opinion. I am a believer, it makes me really sad to know about this situation. I also don´t understand fellow cristhians who want to force him to come back to God, that was hics choice however It is really distubing that nowdays many people embrace scientism as the only way of knowledge, there are other methods of knowledge althought I recognize, the physical sciences have given us a lot of knowledge about the natural world but from that fact we can not infer that the physical is all tha exists

I gotta tell you Sec.. my father has cancer and they have him 2 years or less and that was over 4 years ago and he is still pretty healthy and enjoying life. Have hope my friend..

Good to hear. There are so many cancers. Me and my brother both have brain cancer but his is a different type which can be cured.

Even I am not an atheist I feel really sad because of Bernie´s health. Maybe we don´t share opinions but there is something inside me that makes me feel terrible when I know about anybody who is with this terrible disease.

Unfortunately, he passed away awhile ago. I was friends with his two sons and I don't remember an exact time but im sad to say he is no longer around

Recently I have seen a post on youtube about why believers look for something beyond the physical and I answered it. The post was: " The real question is why would you need a supernatural belief to care about your life in the first place ?" I think they are in denial about their mortality and want to think they will live forever. It is quite scary, for the first time, to confront the idea that everything in life is temporary and will be one day totally erased. And I answered this, I hope you can share your opinions and thought on the topic: Maybe is fear but that doesn´t follow that the belief is false, that is commiting the genetic fallacy. If atheism is true, we are moist biological robots with a basic purpose in life. Born, Growth, Survive, Reproduce, Die. During the history many people have gone beyond their biology and basic instints in order to help other because they were motivated for the love and hope of something trascendent of this reality. Father Damien of Molokai spent his whole life taking care of the lepers. He didn´t get married and didn´t care about his health in order to take care of these people. He didn´t care if these people were their family or their friends. All animal specied have their instinct which guide them trough life to fullfil their goals: survive, reproduce, die. But humans have reached the capacity to ask why and trascend their biological needs. If atheism is true, nobody has free will, human cognition, rationality, decisions, thoughts, actions and plans are part of the deterministic unbreakable causal chain of physical events which started at the big bang and finish in the big rip. If atheism is true there are no choice therefore no right or wrong no good or bad actions since personhood and conscioussness are just epiphenomenos or ilusions and have no causal power. As Dawkins said: The total amount of suffering per year in the natural world is beyond all decent contemplation. During the minute that it takes me to compose this sentence, thousands of animals are being eaten alive, many others are running for their lives, whimpering with fear, others are slowly being devoured from within by rasping parasites, thousands of all kinds are dying of starvation, thirst, and disease. It must be so. If there ever is a time of plenty, this very fact will automatically lead to an increase in the population until the natural state of starvation and misery is restored. In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe that we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but pitiless indifference. I don´t know what will happen when I die but I know from the facts though human history that humans have gone beyond their biology in the search for meaning. From the fact that physical sciences are the best way to obtain and find certain knowledge about reality, I can not infer that what they show me are the only thing that exist. It is like saying, I am in a room with blindfolded and only have a metal detector to find what thing are in that room. From the fact that metal detectors are the best tool to find coins and metallic objects I can not infer what they show are the only things (coins and metal objects) that room have. They are other ways of finding truth on reality as Edward Feser pointed.

@@pepedestroyer5974 Hopefully you realize that there are at least 100 religions so using the argument “there’s nothing to lose” is irrelevant as there is always something to lose. And hey, if there is/are god(s), I think he would be much more rational with people who didn’t believe any religion than someone believing the wrong one.

I spent time researching marijuana, thanks. There are so many alternatives to investigate, and I'm limited by time and motivation (can't think about this stuff 24 hrs a day).

If you mean statistical, O.K. But experience is sometimes the best way. It may not be your thing as a treatment, but if there is any chance it may help in preventing tumor growth, as some studies suggest, then it might be worth it. Have your tried it? Some feel that the medical establishment has a bias against Marijuana because of strong government pressure to maintain their pronouncement decades ago before there was extensive study on it, that it had no medical uses and should therefore be classified in the same category as heroin.

I was wondering about you because I hadn't seen any uploads in a bit. Glad you're still around. What were your symptoms which made you see a doctor and get this diagnosis, if I might ask? I think others might be interested in knowing too

gotehorn , The symptom was that my right arm went paralyzed for about five minutes. I could've easily ignored it, but my wife encouraged me to go to the emergency room to get it checked out. They did a whole battery of tests. They ran about five tests, but they still couldn't determine the cause. But they saw something suspicious on the CAT scan, so they scheduled an MRI for the next morning. They could easily see the tumor on the MRI.

I've been taking some CBD pills, but I don't think the dosage is significant to have any impact on the tumor. I think I need a daily dosage of about 2 grams but the biggest pills I've found are 15 mg. That would be 133 pills per day. I take a few pills, as something is better than nothing. Learn sciencebasedmedicine. There is no peer-reviewed scientific study that shows marijuana "cures" cancer. It does relieve pain, I assume (I don't know - I've never consumed pot). Keep up with critical scientific thinking & action.

I've been looking into it. I haven't seen any science on tests of it, or what dosages to use.

I don't think it is unfair, just nature. I've lived a good life. What's truly sad is when you open your eyes and see all the children dying of cancers and other diseases. Also sad, is when religious adults get something serious like this and rely on prayer alone. Fortunately, most have sense to also see a doctor.

Obiter Dicta very true there was this guy with stage 4 brain cancer and is alive to this day without chemo and radiation. The cancer still there but he eats under 20 grams of carbohydrates

Great advice, totally agree! Although I also think he should add in some key anti-cancer vitamins/minerals/herbs like Selenium, turmeric, vitamin D/C, etc.

Brain tumor called GBM. Surgery to remove cancer on 9-19-16 (about 4 months ago). Now doing various chemo and radiotherapy procedures. I'm feeling good now. But there's no cure, and average life expectancy is 1.5 years from surgery time.
