As a Samoan, I feel so much sadness for my native Hawaiian brothers and sisters. Their Identity has been completely tarnished by colonization. Samoa organized peaceful resistance protest back in the 1920s to fight for their independence, one of the first countries to perform non-violent movement before Gandhi and before Martin Luther king. They were eventually granted Independence in 1962 and Samoa is still as pure as can be, with 70% of it's land preserved under it's constitution and overseas investors can't buy property but can enter long-term leaseholds of upto 50 years, so that custom ownership is maintained by the local people. My prayers go out to the Maoli people.

No doubt why people in Europe and other parts of world think USA-people is such primitive creatures. Telling somebody she have "serious mental health issue" just because she do not wanted be filmed on camera is JUST DISGUSTING. Unsubscibed, disliked and reported to youtube. Keep harassing and abusing people and legal complaint will be there soon i promise. Disgusting.

what’s difficult for Hawai’i as well, is that housing is soooo expensive that even MIDDLE class can’t afford homes and end up homeless. So living in Hawai’i is a struggle for even both those with low paying jobs and homeless! I just want people to know that we need to provide for EVERYONE and not just our tourist. Thank you for sharing awareness of our home, it is truly appreciated.

I am 99% certain I know this guy and became good friends when I lived on Maui for about 6 months. Technically I was homeless but was invited over with a job lined up working construction with my dad. Got to camp on the job site in tents sorta as security for one. Plus not really any excuse to not show up to work lol. Was about 14 years ago.... This is the weirdest thing starting to go thru this channel and I see a close friend from over a decade ago in a different state lol. He is the realest of the real. I dont wanna mess with his privacy telling much about him but you are right on the money with the kinda guy he is. Has seen and done some absolutely crazy stuff in his life. He is right there when you need him too. He has a weird 6th sense about stuff about to unfold. Or people you need to watch out for. He took me in so to speak and let everybody know I am not any regular haole to be messed with lol. I was young few years out of highschool then.... man

When I was homeless on the west coast, it was rare, but you could find entire groups of people living together as clans basically. They all looked out for eachother and the people I found myself aeound were the kind to chase tweakers and junkies away from public places. The locals in Berkeley were really chill about certain homeless people, especially some of the guys working at Peets coffee on Telegraph. Also, shout out to Fat Slice and Top Dog for keeping affordable food available to us and not treating the good ones like theyre subhuman.

Well HE calls it racism. I suggest you speak to your people of the island and aske THEM what THEY call it. Racism - hate for no reason for race, color, sexuality religion and so on. Racism. When your attitude and/or disposition comes from a RESPONSE to actions taken AGAINST your natives ppl and obvious the land. Wont have shiot left for "natives" to buy a house when its time for you unless its passed down. Also young lady, as a person of color one tip you keep - it IS OK to congregate, socialize, entertain, educated, and worship exclusively with your people. Something you should NEVER feel anything but pride in. Something that's awarded to you when things are "taken" and "sold" away from yall. P.S. @@mikevalentine8369 It is racism and literally within the definition. If you hate white people because a specific white person bought a house before you, then you are a racist. Same if you hate black people because you got mugged once by a specific black person or if you hate asian people because one asian person stole your significant other. It's quite simple to understand the concept of racism, I think you got confused by to much leftist media trying to bend the definition around to fit their narrative.

I'm a pharmacist working in Honolulu and the amount of homelessness, drug-addicted, and mentally ill folks is making it scarier to just walk on the street. I regularly get people from that park (and others) walking in and asking for OTC treatments for 'nano-machines under the skin/CIA trackers/any other schizo paranoia thing you can think of. Also a lot of scabies treatment requests, or any SSTI treatments, etc. Thanks for making this video. In pharmacy there's already extremely strict state+federal laws and regulations around the dispensing of controlled substances i.e. fentanyl/other opioids. Dealers must be getting their supply from other countries illegally imo. Anyways I live right there! I go to that panda express all the time. @Skapo

Lowkey that's actually how most of the homeless end up on the West coast in general. Mostly Republican states pack up their most troublesome homeless and bus them to LA or Portland with $100 Subway gift cards & the general understanding that west coast blue states will be more humane to them (which is true), but it overwhelms our systems. In Portland it was all of 5 years before we went from handling the situation somewhat to being completely & totally overwhelmed with an influx of severely mentally ill people from states like Texas, Utah etc.

Melissa and her pup just made me sob. She needed a hand up, and you did that for her. I don't have the answers needed to solve this humanitarian crisis, but thank you for your kindness to her, and her pup. My kids and I lost everything in a fire, and became homeless in the blink of an eye. It was so incredibly tough. I didn't have renters insurance, so everything was just gone. I have always worked 2 jobs, but it isn't easy having to replace everything at once. I thank God, I had family to lean on. It took me a good year to get back on my feet and replace what items we lost in the fire. My children and I would have been out on the streets if it weren't for my siblings. I don't think the general public realizes how quickly a person could become homeless, and once homeless, how hard it is to get back on your feet. Most long-term homeless people have either mental illness, drug addiction, or both. As a nation, we need effective treatments for these conditions in order to make an effective change to decrease homelessness. A different approach is needed, as the current approach is failing miserably. No human should have to live like this.

I'm born and raised on Kauai and homelessness has always been a big problem. When I was younger I used to walk and take the bus to get to where I was going and sometimes would get into conversations with the homeless uncles and aunties that were sitting and waiting for the bus. A lot of them used to tell us as teens that they were flown in from a different state and promised a job. The problem only got worse to the point that at the age of 16 I didn't really see them on the streets or parks but down in the alleyways we would use as shortcuts or in the bushes on the side of the main highway. They were just pushed out of our parks and into the wilderness to where it was basically out of sight out of mind for our county.

Man when that dog ran in the hotel room and hopped on the bed rolling around with pure joy. I honestly started to tear up. Like the pup was happy that she and her human has a safe comfortable place to sleep tonight. That’s just awesome. I salute Tyler and Kevin for helping her have a place to sleep that night before her going into a shelter. That was so awesome and a really compassionate thing for them to do. I mean they could just walked on and wished her luck but they helped her out and paid for a room for her to sleep in for the night. They are good dudes man. It usually takes a lot for me to subscribe to a content creator’s channel because a lot of the time they turn out to be fake AF in the long run but after watching a handful of your video’s especially on raising awareness with the homeless and drug epidemic and doing it in a respectful manner. Getting information and conducting interviews while showing these individuals a level of respect, dignity, and empathy. I have decided to subscribe. Keep up the good work Tyler and Kevin ❤️. Side Note: I know the woman said that she was going in a shelter the next day. But from personal experience I know that a lot of shelters don’t allow you to bring animals with you. With that said I’m curious if this particular shelter she is going to is going to allow her to bring her pet. Because if they don’t she might decide not to go which would be awful but at the same time understandable because if I was her I wouldn’t want to abandon my dog/ the only companion that has been by my side through all my suffering either. Idk I hope that she is allowed to bring her puppy with her because it would be really traumatic for her to be separated from her owner and put in a dog shelter/pound or possibly left behind to fend for herself. But like I said I don’t believe the woman would stand by and allow that to happen. She seems to love the dog very much. Either way I will pray for both of them to be safe and happy and find peace & safety in their lives.

Not having that along with being abused throughout child, a horrible marriage, etc leads to someone that doesn’t think the way a normal person does. We can sit here all day and say they just don’t want to get better or don’t want to get off the streets, but you also can’t think the way these people do. After 35 years of leaving Hawaii as a kid, I went back to see my best friend to say goodbye for the last time before he passed from cancer. How Oahu has grown is insane. The only local areas I could recognize from the air was Electric beach prior to landing. My experience with the locals this trip was that they where actually much friendlier from when I lived there as a kid. I did work there for a summer on the Waianae side when I was 16 on a ranch with my buddy. Anyway traffic, growth and the poverty had exploded since then. Over on the Waianae side we used to pick up a guy who worked with us from one of the shanty towns that was made of tarps and pallets in the morning before we got to the ranch so it was there but now most of Waianae has homeless encampments from Nanakuli to Kaena point. Found a house for sale... 1200 sq. ft, no real front door, windows where hinged boards, eves falling down, front porch missing some boards... $660,000!! I grew up on the small populated island of Kauai from 11 to 22. Homelessness wasn't huge, but definitely a lot bigger than most people knew. I knew a few people who were shipped out. Some states basically deport the homeless or send them to jail. Many take the plane ticket and "job opportunities" not realizing that they are being lied to. For the locals, a lot of it stems from knowing so many people on the islands. Hawaii as a whole is pretty tightly knit in comparison to other states and even many other countries. Hawaiian families and friends are HUGE! I worked at the Kauai Costco and 85% of the island at the time had a costco membership. I saw everybody; friends, exes, bullies, tourists. All of it. Hawaii is beautiful, but it's too easy to feel stuck, too easy to be caught up in drama. Everyone knows everyone. Anything that you have done or has happened to you, a large amount of the island will know about it. The "coconut wireless" as some used to call it. Seeing your exes at 1 of the 4 places to buy food, the cost of living, modern society in general, the pandemic (that struck tourist areas like hawaii very hard), it's no wonder there are so many falling into drugs (most specifically meth) and just feeling like goving up. Add that a lot of locals really just aren't as educated and not as world traveled (far away from other places, and hawaii is already "paradise"), it all adds up. Every which way it's a struggle. I wasn't even close to homeless, and I love Hawaii with all my soul. It's the place this haole boy calls home. But man I just had to get out of there and actual find a place to make new experiences. Hawaii really starts to feel like the same old, especially on the smaller populated islands. For nature it's awesome, but for indoor/social activities not involving nature, it's usually few and far between (and any that there are you'll see all the people you know. You ain't meeting any new people at a bar, unless it's a tourist or someone who moved from another island). It's fucked. Hawaii really just can't catch a break

Hawaii was once a paradise and now it's like a giant open-air prison. Sad. There were a ton of homeless camps in the Dog the Bounty Hunter series, his team was always going into the camps to hunt down fugitives. Cost of living in Hawaii is insane, I really feel bad for the native people who no longer can afford to live in their homeland. I know many Southeastern American families in a similar predicament-family lands sold off to developers and people priced out of communities because cost of living went up but not their wages.

Many homeless use to have a home but because many of them have problem with alcohol and drugs and mental health problem. Their houses look like barn where animals live.....like total shit show and the smell and bugs just dont stay in their apartment it goes other apartments too. I have been fixing these houses like 16 years. But i believe people should have second chance and help. Just few months ago one guy was kicked out of his rental apartment and i met the landlord who told me that apartment needs total repair. need to do new bathroom, new kitchen, new floor and paint and fix holes in walls. it will cost about 15 -20 000 euros. Whats sad that this is third guy who is kicked out and last two fucked the apartment same way. And in just two years time. Tax payers pay those repair bills because these guys dont have any money. Point here if you dont care about how you live in rental house or apartment. It is better you live in streets then.@@MissCleo24

@@MissCleo24 or maybe ppl need to stop voting for government politicians that send billions to Ukraine and send maybe just 1 billion to Hawaii for housing. Elon musk has manufactured a home for under 10 g that self sustains on solar panels. How about the gov send 10 or 20 thousand X homes to Hawaii. btw Elon has put 4 of those units together in Texas and lives in his own manufactured home. The problem is solvable, the fact that it has not been solved tells you our elected leaders like the problem and want it to continue.

Back in 06-07 I had a woman named Michelle message me on Myspace and was trying to talk me into coming to Hawaii. She said she lived in Ewa Beach, her family was wealthy, her Mom did a Sunday church show, could get me a job, a place to live, sent me a cel phone, told me to watch Dog so I could see what life was like out there. I'd already moved away from a town that was infested with tweakers and seeing how bad it was in Hawaii was a big Red Flag. She bought me a plane ticket (verified). A week before my flight was scheduled she said "Don't bother coming if you're just going to reject me." That surprised me because we hadn't even got close to that sort of situation and it was enough to make me back away from it. Seeing this vid and listening to the stories those people are telling makes me glad I did. I just don't understand why people would do that, for what purpose. The plane ticket was $800.

colonial settlements are taken by force and kept by force. america is all an open air prison, reservation. step out of line and they immediately want to send people to prison. instead of giving people an apartment, they give them cells.

This was absolutely heart breaking. The highlight was the lady and her pup in the hotel at the end, what incredible joy over life’s simple pleasure of a BED! Makes ya really think about the small things we complain about and stop taking this for granted

Ephesians 6:10-18 says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless. 😢😢

I actually started cryin when the woman Melissa that went thru the fires told her story. And said that she slept on the sidewalk everyday of the housing building and finally her persistence worked. I pray for nothing but the absolute best for her and I hope she’s living a better life and doing well! The fact they helped her is beautiful. Put her in a hotel and gave her some money for food for her n her pup. I rlly rlly am praying for a better life for her. 🙏🏻
