@@Freeunner311 we both have the same dilemma! Got 2 kids to. Keep in mind This thing smaller than a mustang gt. Just get a forte or any upcoming nline if there would be in a subcompact hyundai.if budget not an issue stinger ,g70. Im considering the base model i know this drives tighter but you know family 1st where they would be comfortable in long term.. VW is also good but expensive TO
@@MJT-DA Well besides rear swaybar placement and I know measearment may be a couple mm off, my Kona AWD rear Multi-Link looks so close to Golf R it's funny.
@@tedtedness184 it's regulations unfortunately. Safety regulations tell manufacturers manufacturer's measurements and shape parameters to pass the safety test which is why most SUVs look the same. And now I'm noticing cars as well. Idk how the GT86 passed because it has a terrible crash rate college students from my school died in one last year unfortunately which is why they don't make lightweight sports cars anymore they're too dangerous.
A lot of people think Hyundai can’t be a build car but they haven’t looked into all the amazing things you can actually do and they even have there own aftermarket company called sixth sense and they have great after market parts putting a Elantra sport up to around 400hp and that’s good enough for me if you ask also still coming out with more products looking to make a Hyundai Veloster n and Elantra sport up to 500hp just wait 👌🏼
Congrats Hansen! That car is awesome. With all of the car purchases going on within this channel, I think we need a massive comparison video between this, the C30, Greg's V70R, Chad's new Mustang, and Greg's E90 M3. Maybe get them all out on the track and compare times? That would be quite the video. This channel just keeps getting better. Keep it up guys.
Thank you so much for the support!! This is definitely coming in the spring. I think up next for this VN is to compare to the C30, maybe exhaust battle. Video should be coming soon. -Hansen
Congrats on the new ride! Look forward to see some videos for this car. It's sad to see some of these close minded comments in here. As a car enthusiast, I have learned to be open to different types of performance in cars. New ideas and innovations is what keeps the performance market (and the car industry) thriving and fresh. Besides if all cars were the same, how boring that would be. Finally, if you have a difference of opinion or this is NOT your thing, you DON'T have to be a douche about it. Enjoy!
@@vStehz That's how I feel too. Even though this gen Veloster is much better looking than the last I'm still not huge on it. Even though I own one identical to the one in the video lol.
I'm waiting for June's Auto show to see if the new 2.5 engine will make it to 2021 Veloster or not. Veloster N is my number 1 on the list. My number 2 on the list is the MK8 GTI # 3 is next gen WRX/STi which we should know by Detroit Auto show.
@@ShiftingLanes I think Ben has a valid point. The sonata N line is a 2.5l turbo with 290hp and 310 ft lbs of torque paired with a dual clutch transmission. Hyundai did mention a dct veloster N is in the works. It 100% makes sense there is a slight possibility that engine and trans will make its way to a new veloster N. That engine would really close the gap of performance between the N and the type R.
Hey. Great pro quality content 👍 nice add to the shifting lanes fleet. Saved some buck$ vs the civicR too. I gotta couple questions for u: r there any break-in rules for the car that ur guna follow? Also how do u feel this vs the s60R? Faster? More comfortable? Louder,? definitely better infotainment and mpgs i assume? Thanks for ur work on these vids, i hope u guys get rich from RU-vid and keep making great videos, maybe track battles in the future. 😉
Thank you for being so supportive!👊👊👊 600 miles is the recommended per the forums and fb groups. I think this is gonna be slightly quicker than a stock S60R. Less comfortable, but sounds sooo much better and louder. I still miss the 5 banger though. -Hansen
How much did you pay out the door before tax? Are they gonna put the 2.5T in the new ones? I didnt have the money for the Veloster N and bought a GT N-Line heavily discounted for 21K flat (great purchase and price) with a MT and the PS4 tires. Nice car , better interior then the N, more room, better MPGs and arguably better looking or more conservative but I DO WISH I got the Veloster (or had the money to do it) and do regret not getting all the N goodies and MOSTLY the power. The N Line handles surprisingly well while having a good ride and good grip with the PS4s but the 1.6T is just underpowered . 30 hp more I would think it would be fine but I miss (would prefer) the extra 75 HP of the 2.0t and the LSD and all that would be awesome . I would definitely like the Rev Match as I like driving hard but not good at heel toe . Hyundai is Killing the GT. I dont know if that means the I30 is dead as well but for sure it means we dont get a proper GT N in the states. An Elantra GT with a 2.5 T would have been awesome and kicked everybodys dick in the dirt. I would still get a manual but a 2.5t with 8 spd DCT would be a monster for track times and backroads .
Only reason I didn't get performance package is because brakes are too big. Roads are horrendous where I am and I absolutely had to drop down to 17" wheel size to get more meat. I was still babying the car a month and a half in but still lost a tire and dented one of the 18" wheels visiting parents up north where roads are even worse.
Getting this car in 1-2 years, it doesnt have auto braking, nor blindspot detection, which is a no go for me. The veloster turbo ultimate is good too! Just not as good as the N. Also the n should be getting a dct soon
If you need a car to brake for you, and tell you to check your blind spot when merging, then I suggest you use UBER and stay off the roads, since driving might be too complicated for you.
@@BroNapartay agreed man. If you want the car to do everything for you then you shouldn't get a sports car in the 1st place. These cars are meant for enthusiasts and are engaging. Go get a Prius in that case
The lack of sunroof was too great a loss for me to want one. I would love to have the N, but a Performance Package Turbo is more for me. I just can’t give up that glass top!
The car is a white smokin' Indo. 😁 Currently, I drive a 2012 stock àutomatic (DCT). Also, I heard a DCT version Turbo (N?) will be available in America soon.
This cars looks make me think it's totally the new C30. I personally love both but I have friends that think they are two of the ugliest cars ever made. :) Congrats on the car. I test drove one and it seemed like a super fun little car. Can't beat the price either. I personally wish it was AWD and 300 hp. I probably would have gotten it then instead of my golf R because it's so much more unique looking.
This is a nice car. I saw one at a Hyundai dealership when my wife bought her new Elantra last year and I liked it a lot. I encountered one today on the road just like this one while taking a leisurely drive in my Corvette Z06. The driver of that Hyundai was a real jackass and was trying to antagonize me. I wasn't having any of it. He was no match for my car. Down the road a bit he was doing the same thing to a guy driving a Camaro SS 1LE. Maybe he should look for some Civic Type R's to bug instead trying to dance with the big boys that are way out of his league. I think the owner of that car thinks just because his exhaust is loud that his car is fast. He has no idea what a fast car truly is. What Hyundai didn't do that it should have was offer the car with a few more ponies, say, a 2.4L turbo with ~310hp and all-wheel drive, for say, another $3K or so for those who are really performance minded but want a smaller car that is relatively good on gas and can be daily driven.
@@juanc5149 Fair point. But at least it is in the same universe. My Corvette Z06 makes 230 more horsepower and 210 more lb ft of torque, and it's only 100 lbs heavier than the Hyundai.
Congrats on the new car, Were you able to get a test drive before you bought it? When i went to towne Hyundai as well, they said it was a "premium" car and dont do it, said the same for the regular veloster. Got a vw instead. I wonder if that was the same n i sat in, i went in like 4 weeks ago and it was a chalk color one as well
Can you imagine this thing with north - south engine orientation and rear transmission/differential for 50/50 weight distribution. Eat Miata's for lunch, yet hold 4 people.
Nice man cant wait for more videos and also wanted to know if you thought the n would be a good upgrade from a 9th gen civic si I am looking for a new car and dont know what to get next I do the veloster n
@@ShiftingLanes i have an appt to test drive one in a few days. been looking everywhere trying to find invoice price to know where to start at with price bargaining. willing to let me know where invoice was relative to MSRP?
Check KBB for new car prices. I believe invoice was around 29,500. Just go into the dealer armed with information, check cargurus and autotrader for expected dealer pricing, be firm but also reasonable. Good luck! These cars are great.
I purchased mine 1k under MSRP in April 2019. The dealership attempted to mark it up to 33k originally here in Macon Georgia and that shit didn't float here. When I got my car it had been on the dealership lot for 33 days and they had just reduced the price to MSRP. They wound up giving me a Hyundai loyalty discount through my work.. I have never owned a Hyundai but the hospital I work for leases them... And a military discount because I was in the army a hundred years ago 😂. So I grabbed it up.
It lapped VIR 14 seconds faster than a Focus ST, and faster than a WRX STI, Golf R, S3, and M240i. Indeed, none of those cars are particularly fast, but what are you expecting for under $30,000? lol
@@npaul4171 well I would hope it will do better on track than a focus ST lol. The N still about 6k to 8k more than the focus st. Also the Focus doesn't come with an Electronic LSD(not talking about the new ST, in the US we didn't get the luxury to get them). Then again how many people really track their cars everyday to be flexing that it's better on track haha 😅
Hey guys you want a new car? You have a choice of a 2 liter Turbo or a 2 liter Turbo. Or what about this 2 liter Turbo. There's also a 2 liter Turbo from this other company. I just want a fucking vr6!!!!
Ryan Dougherty this is true, just giving you a hard time. It’s a sweet car! I have a new type R and a C7 ZO6 you can check out my Channel I need to add vids and drone of the type R while it’s stock as I will be changing a lot of stuff this month
Anyone who says leather lasts longer than cloth dont work for a living. I will walk past a car for having cloth interior. 2 weeks driving a cloth interior to a building site its fucked can never be saved. Leather bit of saddle soap now and again it last forever.
