A quote I love is “Fear does not stop death, It stops life. And worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles, It takes away today’s peace”.
@tinadelarosa8922
I am veteran, the wife of a retired combat wounded Marine, a mom and grandma, I wish I could give you a hug and take your fears away. The world is very scary, I wish I could come grow tomatoes with you. I am praying for you and will keep you and yours in my prayers too. Thank you for sharing your vulnerabilities with us. You are a special lady.
@cherylbond1556
You need the t-shirt and the fridge magnet....."I just wanna grow some tomatoes" 🍅🍅🍅
@marthabrickett3298
When my son enlisted in the Army 30 years ago and left for boot camp I felt as if my heart was being ripped from my chest along with my lungs too because I really couldn’t breathe anymore. What really had happened was it repositioned and made room for my heart to swell with even more pride. It was not what I had wanted or thought was right for him but things work out the way they work out. And now he’s a retired Lt Colonel, a board certified general surgeon who served us all well in this crazy world. And yes it’s crazy. I learned to breathe deeply- really deeply and Leisa- I planted lots of tomatoes. And your mother was right. It will all be ok♥️
@Becky-tp7gm
My heart goes out to those who are struggling right now. If people don't think we're in a depression, i don't know what to say.
@denisefischer939
I have been working on all the preps you mention. But this year my 13-year old grandson announced he was going to join the Air Force when he finishes high school, specifically aiming for special forces. My son, his uncle, told him he needs to in good shape, get good grades and work out. We all thought that would be it. But no, he joined the Track & Field team at school, started actually doing his school work and working out. It's kinda terrifying. I just want to grow tomatoes too.
@janharris541
Thanks Leisa. I'm in England and because of you homesteading Americans I got. myself a pressure canner. Hooray. My larder is full of meat so are my daughters, except they keep eating theirs!! Thank you so much homesteaders. God bless to all in this weird time and definitely get in your garden and grow anything. The bees will love youxx

I loved this chat Leisa❤ I completely get the overwhelming feeling. I too want to grow tomatoes (and eat them). I can’t begin to tell you the amount of dread and death that has touched my family in this past 2 months. It’s added so many components to what we are living through each day. I’m not only grieving but taking on mountains. I’m not telling you my pain because you have enough to deal with. Just know you are not alone. We all appreciate you. Those that don’t, need not add to your shoulders. God Bless your grandson ❤ And congratulations to him. Go grow your tomatoes Leisa… we got this❤
@cookinmum
Dear Leisa, I am lucky to be part of this community. I bought the book after you said to read it. I’m turning 70 this fall. I lost my first born last year in April to Cancer, it was so fast it took her in 10 days after she was diagnosed . I have lived a long time but never thought my child would pass before me. I was raised by my grandmother who lived through two WW and raised little ones in the second WW. The advice she gave and lessons she taught have never left me. She said , be prepared the world can change in an instant. I have lived by her suggestions ever since. I say this because i know the fear and shock and unfamiliarity of the world we are living in is numbing. Nothing makes sense. Knowing it will likely get worse is ever so frightening especially when we turn to look at the young people we love and who we wanted to see live a safe secure and abundant life. We did not want to see them face such uncertainty and danger and struggle. I want to tell you it will be alright, the winds will blow and the thunder will crack, but we cannot be frightened into helplessness, we can and will help by continuing to help others. That’s why we will go into the garden and plant more tomatoes. Thank you for your videos.
@SpecialK8
I hear you Leisa. My younger sister passed in April. The youngest of seven. She was one of my dearest friends. I just wanted to grow tomato’s too. She had been ill for quite some time but it still came as a surprise.
@JT-2012
Hey, I was Air Force and it's the best service to be in. It's also the safest. You get the best technical training, that can later translate into civilian life. Just tell him that Basic Training is a head game. They're just trying to see what you're made of. It drove them nuts that I smiled through the whole thing. Don't worry, grandma. Blessings. 💜
@MsNancy9369
Hang in there Leisa. You were the one giving me confidence to start pressure canning and I will forever be grateful. You were the one encouraging me to "stack it to the rafters" and I am getting there. You are the one with the calm and reassuring voice of reason that we all need so much. You are not alone. That feeling of "meh" is starting to be the norm for many of us. I think we're going to be ok in the end but getting there will be tricky. We've got your back and we appreciate you. Rebel canners can do their thing and we'll do ours! Prayers and hugs 😊
@mommabscrochetkitchen2439
My heart and my prayers are with you. I feel so much like this as far as the world is concerned. Prayers for your grandson 🙏❤.
@nomopms1
Leisa, I understand how you feel. Totally! I steer clear of the news because I just get angry, although I do pick up snippets. I told my hub to only tell me what I REALLY need to know, like, "They are marching into our town". Okay. I just pray a lot and keep my hands busy. If I focused on everything that's going on, my mind would go loopy. In my 65 years, I've NEVER seen so much insanity. None of us can stop what God says is going to happen. So, walk with the Lord and grow tomatoes. Be at peace. Hugs!
@robinholbrook8296
I planted 16 tomato plants and green beans.
@Nancymarie_
Don’t forget to store in stockpile seeds
@amyfeigt6715
I think we all needed this conversation ❤ I just got back from visiting my family, including my youngest uncle who is in the end stages of prostate cancer. We had some great talks & seeing someone who knows full well that his time is limited & is in constant pain, but who has a wonderful outlook & still has joy & laughter puts a lot into perspective. As the t-shirt I'm wearing says "Everything is figureoutable". We just keep doing what we need to do take time to enjoy our friends & family... & grow some maters! ❤
@jeanniewright2554
I’m the widow of a retired SGM in the Army. He did 3 tours in war zones. One of our sons did 2 tours in war zones. I have STRONGLY suggested to my 2 grandsons that they look elsewhere for a job or career. At one time I thought all children should do a short tour in any branch of the military that appealed. For the discipline and as a growing period after high school but before they committed to a way of life. I no longer do that. The military no longer meets the requirements for helping a person grow.
@victoriajankowski1197
I am disabled, I cannot march, protest or fight, but I can plant trees, grow veg and preserve food, I can create a space of refuge for those who can march, protest and fight to come when they need peace and comfort to recover. Not everyone can be the head of the spear, but a spear with no handle is pretty useless anyways! Thanks for the reminder to stop doom scrolling and take the time now to get my health in hand while I still have the time to do so!
@katrinaward1069
Oh Lisa… I feel all of this to my core! Thank you for letting us know we’re not alone in this feeling. I have two young men (also both Eagle Scouts!! Congratulations, that’s a HUGE accomplishment). One is 19 and one is 23. They are amazing men and I am terrified what this world has in store for them. They’ve chosen the trades - one a diesel mechanic and the other a welding apprentice. I am so proud of them as human beings. But I worry about a draft. I worry about their health. I worry about what my future grandchildren might have to endure. I feel absolutely helpless. So I also am growing the tomatoes, the sunflowers, and canning all the things. Thank you for putting this all into words.
