Hello Kaylie, I congratulate you on reaching your goal, but I want to ask you something. I also want to feel muscular and fit and have a toned body. It's been 4 days. I do sports and eat healthy. But my belly is extremely swollen and is this swelling due to fat? Could it be that I have gas tolerance? How can I find out about these? I wonder which department's doctor did you go to?
Keto for 2 months Then switch to sustainable Healthy fats Start looking at yourself as you already are the best version Trust yourself you are definitely going to do it You can change overnight Be connected with your body What time you eat matters Food is more important Detach from how you look You are not missing out on anything because you have different priorities
Wow! Thank you for the mind shift that “you are not missing out when you decide to prioritize yourself.” I’m going to put that reminder everywhere because it really speaks to the part of me that sabotages eating differently EVERY time, fooling myself into thinking that if I don’t eat certain foods I’m missing out. So perfect. Thank you ❤ Here’s to choosing ourselves!
im 17 and you have no idea how much i resonate with you and this video! word to word. i struggle with the same problems and ive been stuck in this toxic cycle for 3 years now. and i really hate how ive lived these past 3 years. this video encouraged me to bring that dark side of mine to light and now im motivated to change for good! thankyou so much imogen! you're helping so many of us by sharing all these facts and hard truths! god bless you and sending love
omg thank you so so much for leaving this comment!! I'm 25 and I feel so upset when I think about how much of my life I spent doing everything but what my own body personally needed - and breaking this toxic cycle is one of the hardest I have ever had to do. The best advice I can give is to focus 100% fully on understanding yourself, it may take some time and you may have set backs but every set back is a lesson which just brings you closer to a better understanding of your body and mind
Fellow 17 y/o here, literally same!! I've been trying to lose weight for years, not really being balanced with myself (I have a major sweet tooth, always have, and felt like I needed to completely cut out sweets because they're bad), and I've just now finally fully realized that I don't need to change myself drastically, and that I should focus on muscle-building, lifting heavy, and just portion controlling a bit and that'll probably get me where I want to be.
I did a similar thing! Cut bread, pasta and rice, low carbs with high protein and healthy fats 👌🏽 it’s worked wonders and I’ve also lost some weight and have a lot more energy. Great video lovely and congratulations
TAKE WHAT RESONATES AND LEAVE WHAT DOESN'T ♡ CHOOSE KINDNESS ps: I was diagnosed with PCOS last year, and my diet changes heavily revolved around medical advise I received as a result! BUT i would NEVER have been able to stick to my nutrition if I didn't have the realisations and mindset I share in this video. - please do not watch this video if you are triggered by weight loss, discussing macros, open-minded or are in any way not in the headspace to discuss physical transformation. I love you SO much please look after yourself! All the things I discuss in this video are personal to me and my experience- these are the only things that have ever worked for me.
For five years, I suffered from yo-yo weight gain and loss, anxiety, depression, inflammation and constipation. And I had enough and just recently I went to a holistic doctor and did my hormone and blood test and I’m so glad I did because now I know what my body was lacking of and now I’m on the journey of improving myself. So this video is so relatable to me the fact that for five years I was in a toxic cycle too and nothing was working until I went to check my hormone, blood and cortisol level. And now I practice mindful eating and start gaming again!
I hear a lot of people defend carbs but they need to understand that carbs are good for their body. My body is really sensitive to carbs and sugars. Carbs and sugars really ruin my gut and ph balance. It's literally the same for everyone (man and woman) in my family. Diabetes runs in my family and obesity and we are all endomorphs too. When I don't eat carbs I feel so different! I don't have any problems and more energy. Thank you for the video! Congratulations on your weight loss.
Your vid has some of the most sound-advice I have heard on this topic! If you want to lose weight, look at your mind, and hormones are huge too!! If you can't do it forever, it's not healthy for you
this was such a helpful video !! i did keto a couple years back and it was the most energy I’ve ever had in my life !I love how you eat a Mediterranean style diet , it’s a perfect model for eating lighter!
After MANY attempts of losing weight and gaining it back again, I ended up reaching my highest weight, this felt like my lowest point in my life. I hated myself. I was always tired, unmotivated, hiding out of embarrasment. I always saw food as something that I loved to spend time on and planned my days around my meals. It was all I could think of. Reaching my highest weight & lowest point in my life switched something in my mind. I was always afraid on missing out on delicious foods, this led me to toxic eating behaviors and caused more health issues. Since a month now I decided to prioritize my health over food, I started intermittent fasting, cutting off unhealthy foods and focusing more on healthy meals. It's pretty much the same as I always did, but this time my mindset is completely different compared to other times. And this is what has helped me to lose 7 kg within 2 months. (this never happened to me before) I do eat smaller portions to lose the weight, but I still eat a lot. So to me, unlike other times, it doesn't feel like I'm restricting myself, it feels more like a form of selfcare. Weirdly enough, I don't have any cravings for unhealthy foods anymore. Probably because I know it used to make me feel all the time > horrible.
Thank you SO much for sharing this. I think recognising that everyone is different and some people (like yourself and I), ARE impacted emotionally by our weight if it is directly connected to feeling “unhealthy” whether it’s hormones or mental health. For me, I’m still coming to terms with the fact that I definitely have a problem with sugar and i find it so incredibly difficult to have this in moderation (this is actually a symptom of insulin resistance in PCOS) and my cravings controlled my life. Loosing weight is a result of actions but your mindset determines why, how and whether you will sustain it so it is SO important to as you said, have a healthy relationship with yourself and food and this looks different for everyone!! Thank you so much for sharing your story, I’m so happy you’re finding peace and finding what works for you and I’m wishing you nothing but the best ❤️
I LOVE this video! The tip to eat earlier in the evening is something I'm going to try - because I always go to bed with an uncomfortable tummy. I've often tried to change my mindset around weight loss, but I've never tried the points you discussed in this video. Thank you for making this video, these points are genuinely so helpful.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us! All of the symptoms mentioned are what I am suffering with now. I have a naturally competitive spirit so I enjoy HIIT and my mind is always “on” aka stressed. I’ve just begun my “slow living era”, implementing long walks more and keto. I hope to lower my cortisol soon because it feels awful 😢
This! 100%. The struggle was real for about 5 years until I finally received my PCOS diagnosis. I did not want to go on medication, so I tackled my health. It took about 9 months, which in retrospect is not a long time but felt like an eternity, but I did it! Lost 35 pounds mainly mediterranean diet (because I love it and it does not restrict me) and I did go to the gym 5x a week. Mindset is definitely a big factor as well. Once I learned to love and trust the process, everything became much easier and even enjoyable.
I stopped eating sugar, artificial sweeteners and junk, carbs (except for low glucose index fruit). I was never a meat lover (kind of vegetarian), but I went on keto and turned out my body fixed itself and I lost one size in one month. My inflammation was gone rapidly, sugar level fixed within 2 months and thyroid seems to be working well now (I had suffered from insulin resistance and hypothyroidism). I fell in love with Greek yogurt bowls, fasting and meat with veggies. I feel great and healthy. Zero sugar, carbs or junk cravings. People ask if it isn't boring to eat the same foods. Well, I have realized that supermarket industrial foods are nothing but sugar, processed oils and hazardous chemicals. So, no I am not missing out on anything. I give nutrition to my body, and it seems to appreciate it. If I eat something it doesn't like, it makes me sick. Health is not boring!
i LOVEEEE this for you! The exact same thing happened to me, and we seemed to experience the same health issues before switching to Keto. So grateful for this way of eating every single day
I will! I have go-to meals that I've been obsessed with over the last few months and have definitely helped me! I'll make a what I eat video with these recipes!
Blessyou, please dear if wish try to look ap videos of naturopath Barbara O Neill from Australia, she has wonderful approach on natural balancing hormones, also biblical. Greetings
I also have Pcos and the only thing my doctor told me was to try weight watchers 😢 I’ve seen multiple doctors in France and Belgium but never got really helped and advised on how to improve my hormones (except lose weight by eating less and exercising more, oh, and take ibuprofen if your period is painful); thank you for this video that give me some option on things to try!
Ahhh i feel this SO hard- I was so lucky to come across my doctor. She truly changed my life. I really hope some of the things I spoke about helped you and i really hope you find balance and peace in your body!
1) I love the mindset changes you talk about! (Especially the part about loving your ‘worst’ self because it’s actually your ‘best’ self for starting you on your journey 2) do you know if you had insulin-resistant PCOS type or another type? 3) do you think you may have a gluten sensitivity/intolerance? 4) which labs did you get done to check your hormones and cortisol levels?
Thank you for this Imogen!! Definitely needed this as some who was diagnosed with pcos as well and who had a sudden shift from having hormonal imbalance and weight gain
Dealing with body hair makes me go insaneeee. I did laser removal and it quite helped with legs chin and armpits etc. but I have hair everywhere on my body and I don’t think I want to do laser my shoulders and chest etc… I wish I had a normal body with less hair
Ngl I'm fed up of doing this and it not working.. decided to just go on a vlcd and workout 2 hrs a day for 5 days a week... obviously it's not gonna be long term... but hope it will kick Start my weight loss...I'm fed up with everything being so slow!
I have been tested multiple times! I have come back negative every time. They definitely are symptoms of celiac and IBS! However, I personally don't have either xx
Yeah so happy for you!!!! ❤❤❤❤ If you'd like to understand how this happened to you I'd recommend you the book "Fast like a girl" by Dr Mindy Pelz and her yt channel. It should be a mandatory book for all women!!!
I think this is more important if you’re consuming animal fats as too much animal fats can cause issues with fatty liver (so I’ve seen in my research but I could be wrong!) I’m not too sure what the benchmark would be for fats but for me this kind of style of eating has really really helped my health! Especially for women, monounsaturated fats are scientifically shown to help you absorb vitamins and nutrients and also helps hormone production which is amazing!
@@imogenkaylie a lot of vegan protein doesn’t agree with my body so I’m stuck with mostly meat. I typically eat eggs and chicken, sometimes fish and I’ll have a steak once or twice leading up to my period. Some nuts are off limits too 😕
Hi Tamara! I understand where you are coming from. We all have different backstories and struggles both externally and internally (which people don't see), and while I completely understand and recognise that I haven't had a lived experience with the things you've mentioned, there are things that I do not share on the internet that have affected my own personal mindset. It's important to be critical when watching videos on the internet and I encourage you to keep thinking critically, but understanding that this 10 min video you've seen of me is not encapsulating my life and the things I've experienced. Much love and I hope you have a lovely day
Yes! However there are also countless health professionals that see the benefits for people with certain health conditions- of which I have. I made a point throughout all my videos to explain why I did this. It’s been 7 months since I started and It has changed my life. I have a sustainable way of eating, don’t struggle with inflammation and most importantly my cycle is finally normal again after 10 years. Health professionals are all people at the end of the day, and we all have biases and experiences with certain diets that change how we percieve things (I used to despise low carb diets. It took me 8 months to listen to my doctor and try this).
Long term sustained weight loss is a result of a lifestyle change, and this can only truly happen with the right mindset. What I talk about in this video has genuinely changed my life personally. I’m sorry you didn’t didn’t find this helpful! And I don’t have a workout routine- I just do reformer Pilates. Wishing you the best x
You didn’t need to go keto just raise you healthy fats. My word these people just see one thing and make blankets statements and then over generalise. RU-vid is sincerely madness
Hi Greg! Insulin resistance can be very well managed with Keto as it limits blood sugar spikes. I was going down a hard route with my health, and my insulin problems was causing a lot of health issues! You didn’t listen to the whole video, and I have said multiple times on my channel that I have insulin resistant pcos and my diet is a result of my medical condition! It’s always good to listen to a video before commenting a general statement.
@@gregprouse1173 my doctor gave me a few options and recommended I tried this first before medication. It worked wonders for me. I did it for two months and now I focus on a balanced diet with increased healthy fats. I never, ever recommend keto for just anyone and I’ve always tried to make that super super clear to viewers. I would never want someone to restrict a food group unless they had medical guidance, but for the sake of transparency, I wanted to be honest on my channel about what I did. I didn’t want to lie. You’re right! There are many options for women with insulin resistance PCOS and this is the avenue I decided to go down with my doctor instead of medication. I do appreciate your concern, it is super super important to think critically when consuming content on the internet. RU-vid can be madness. However, I am proud of this video and the disclaimers I give whenever I even mentioned the word “keto” on my channel. I just wanted to share my journey, which personally changed my life for the better. Wishing you the best
thank you so much for this video! The „youre not missing out” advise actually hit home for me. I was always scared that „oh everyone is eating this cake I should too!” but theres nothing wrong with doing things different thatn others. Every body is different. oh and by the way, how did you get your skin to look so smooth omg😩
Exactly!!!! This mindset helps me so so so much and it also re-centres you in your own life! My skin was doing well on this day!! I swear by microneedling 💕
I did keto also and lost around 40 pounds. Also have pcos and I hadn't gotten a regular period ever in my life.. however, once I did keto for a couple of months and lost the weight, I've been getting my period every month now. I'm not sure how that works, but it did for me as well.
4:53 im only halfway thru and everything you’re saying is so gentle and it’s so so refreshing to hear you be so gentle and really helpful without tearing yourself or others down.
I’m so so so happy! Ah gentle is the only way to go in my opinion! Being harsh on ourselves may work initially but it leaves little room for errors/ mistakes and when we do get off track, I feel like it just makes us resentful! So important to come from a place of self love from the very start 💘
I love that you focused on PCOS because I feel like a lot of the other diets I tried messed me up! It's nice to be encouraged by someone who is going through the same thing! So you did help
Your transformation journey is truly inspiring! Shedding 10kg in 3.5 months and achieving hormonal balance is an incredible accomplishment. It brings to mind the valuable teachings of my lifecoach Lisa Haisha during a retreat in the Philippines. Both your journey and Lisa's wisdom inspire me, serving as powerful motivations on my own path to greatness.
To anyone who's reading this: You are strong. You are beautiful. You are powerful. Remind yourself that working out is not a punishment for what you ate, but a celebration of what your body can do! I hope you have a fantastic day :))
One of my favourite mindset shifts is instead of saying “I have to”, we say “I get to” and this what I’m reminded of. Thank you for leaving this comment! 🤍🤍🤍
I have watched everything i possibly can on weight loss over the last 2-3 years, normally i don’t comment. I have PCOS and have been to multiple doctors yet this video has just opened up a new perspective for me. This is perfect advise. Thank you
Thank you so much for this video! As a person with PCOS (and also low carb eating) I really connected with your journey & your words. It brought out emotions I realised I had buried! Can’t wait for more content around this! Thank you 🙏🏽 ❤
For me the biggest was increasing healthy fats! They’re super satiating and personally my sugar cravings died after about two weeks doing this. But I made some cute little almond flour mug brownies with stevia a lot whenever I would get those cravings! I’ll include some options in a video!
Hi! Just a quick question: how do you deal with the 'time of eating' when you go out for example? Usually when I go out to a restaurant it's about 7pm, so how do you keep to the 4-5pm time?
Hello! I actually talk about this in my next video coming out this week but I never ever think that we should sacrifice the simple joys in life like going out to eat with our friends - so when I have dinner plans I’ll just eat later! I usually will choose something lighter but not for weight-loss reasons, but because I don’t like feeling full when I go to sleep!!
Hi I was diagnosed with PCOS too, I am working from home, and my weigh has increased significantly even though I eat very less. Can you please share some recipes and go more in dept about the keto diet. I would love to hear about it and implement it in my life
Girl please help! I am 3rd week on my keto and got very painful cyst on my left breast. It’s so painful. I keep reading that’s because of estrogen. So first advice you can find is “low fat diet”. I am so lost. Everyone is saying something different. In general I really feel so much better. Not lethargic, no cravings, no painful period cramps but this cyst is freaking me out. I really don’t know what’s to do anymore.
Please please please go to a doctor and get this checked out!!! I always say that every single person is different- I know you say you feel better on Keto and I’ve never heard of it causing cysts but please stop doing it and chat to a health professional! Love you so much and I really hope you’re okay
