Exactly. Peace is "the tranquility of order." Man is never fully at peace without offering to God rightly ordered worship, through the means he established: the Catholic Church. Come Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of thy love. Send forth thy Spirit and they shall be created, and thou shalt renew the face of the Earth. Oh God, who instructest the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Ghost, grant that in the same spirit, we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation, through the same Christ, Our Lord. Amen. Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.

I feel very similarly to this guy, and it's such an exhausting place to be. John's right, and Dave is breaking it down well. The key piece is to dive deep down inside your driving motivations, and like John said--stop for a bit. It's so hard to find someone you can talk this sort of problem through with, because most people think it can be solved with a flippant: try this company, take a vacation, "just be happy", or finding yet another hobby. No, this is driven by deep convictions to achieve...sometimes in seeking a sense of self-worth. Jobs don't answer that.

Sometimes you're in a toxic workspace and there are lessons to learn there, if you hang in there for a while until the "phase is complete". Then you're ready for the next phase. Leaving too early may rob you of some new skills which will be useful in life, but staying too long may also be a waste of energy. Perseverance is healthy and not persevering may become a pattern of quitting when the going gets tough.

A job, a spouse, nor a lavish lifestyle can fill a God sized hole in your heart. This is what lead me to Jesus. Went to church and heard about Him as a kid, but I learned who He was when I spent the first 30 years of my life chasing everything else and never found true peace. Hope this caller finds God, it's the only thing that will give true peace.

This is solid advice. I also had this growth mindset, but way to speedy. A lot of the most powerful lessons aren't directly learned, but more so absorbed by osmosis over time. Nothing wrong with taking your time before progressing in your career.

Who told him having that salary would make him happy?! Someone misled him. Celebrities who make millions commit suicide as money does not and never will make you complete or happy. It does however IMO add security to your life and you can bless others.

Truthfully, the cultural messaging at all angles is that more money means more satisfaction. In reality, many people, are satisfied with being with where they're at. The chase for "more" only ends making one feel even emptier. It's a depressing cycle that has no definite conclusion.

@happylistener4628

Yes. Exactly. Happiness is innate. External events and people are just icing on the cake. As a debt free and stress free retiree, I’m grateful for all my blessings. No more commuting to and from work in horrid, time consuming traffic. Not to mention owning a Toyota Prius Hybrid. Saving myself a ton of money on fuel consumption and expense. Saving money while sharing home cooked meals and connecting with my family and friends; enjoying delicious food with good company just can’t be beat. It’s a comfort having the cash to buy what I need when I need it. Retirement is good. Stay safe and God bless.

And here I am battling with the exact opposite 😂 I don’t want to promote in my department because I’m content in my current position, Those above me seem miserable, and I could really care less about stressing more on work. I have enough to worry about outside of work. Is this wrong?
@EarlyBirdCraft
@EarlyBirdCraft 2 года назад
No, not wrong at all. I got promoted at 23, that’s a year after in a company. They promoted me out of desperation and lack of other candidates. I was miserable. I had to switch companies so I can be back to a normal (non management position) for some years to be content with every aspect in my life.

Nope. As one who lives in CA and works in HR, he’s doing very well! And I don’t see that salary in fulfillment and logistics often. Agree he needs to be content with where he is, especially if he hasn’t been in that role for very long. AND most people who leave a job like that, will find other reasons to not be content with their next job or company. He sounds young. When it’s time to make a transition, it will come naturally.
