I’m a lapsed Irish Catholic and I don’t get it either! I always think that hair could have gone to make a wig for a woman or child suffering from aloplecia or hair loss from chemotherapy. One of my daughters grew her hair during and after the pandemic and donated her hair to a children’s charity that uses the hair to make wigs for children with cancer.
Supposed to cover their hair with snood or tichel or hat. Wigs aren’t allowed in a lot of orthodox Jewish communities. Chabad are big on wigs but most other Jews are not.
@@lindaversil1121Interesting, where does your information come from? Most don't wear wigs? Definately not. Most Hasidic communities wear wigs, with the exception of Breslev, this is already I would say 50% of Orthodox.
What is the purpose of covering your real hair with fake hair? I know the women have to cover their hairs after marriage, but what's the point of wearing a super realistic wig? Might aswell not cover your hair
you don't always need to wear a wig there is something us jews call a tichel (tih-ch-ehl) and its like a scarf that you use to cover your hair. I am 100% jewish i am religious and us women don't wear hijabs as that is what muslims do and we are not muslim. If you have any questions you can reply to me and I will try to answer
We Christian’s had women cover hair much earlier in history using veils and scarves. And Jews in the OT would consider an uncovered woman to be a harlot. A wig wouldn’t pass then this is just a loophole
Lmao he’s funny but I can see how a guy wouldn’t be able to tell the wigs from natural hair. I could tell all the wigs apart from the real hair, they all look beautiful regardless
I love this version of modesty - it’s not to look ugly to the world; it’s to reserve some of your authentic beauty for only your spouse. So, you can still wear a nice wig in public, but only your husband will see the unadorned you. L’chaim!
As a woman, you can immediately tell the wigs because of how neatly the hair lines up at the part. But they are still super impressive! All the women look great!
Hassidic people (both men and women) get married as young as possible. It's not impossible to find High Schoolers that are getting married over the summer. To marry young is seen as a blessing.
Doesn't matter, this is all old testament stuff. Learn God's plan and purpose for the ages by rightly dividing the word of truth (dispensations). All of these folks have put limitations on God's Messiah.
@@nikkinik4188 the ‘old’ testament and the ‘new’ testament are one testament. The entire Bible is relevant and aside from the offerings at the temple which no longer exists, all the commandments are in effect per Yahshua. They define your love and obedience ( righteousness) as a follower. The gospel is built on Yahweh’s universal commandments and is a reference throughout to the so called ‘old’ testament which was the only Bible in the lifetime of the apostles and while Yahshua was on earth as a man.
My ex gf had a friend that worked at a wig shop styling and refurbishing wigs and she had a chance to get a job because they needed another girl. She always regretted not taking that job. Jewish women wear the highest quality wigs on the market.
I’d love to learn the origin of the wig versus scarf. Was it commanded that wigs are okay or was that something created as an ease by society. What did God say for jewish women. Personally, I don’t understand. One thing I would understand is if it was used to help women still cover but not be noticed in public. That could be a safety thing. I’m islam, part of the reason we wear hijab IS to be acknowledged as a woman of God. Either way, I’d like to learn more of the history and origin.
If the head covering is to show they are married , then doesn’t wearing a wig defeat the whole reason of covering your hair since the people around you will think your not wearing a wig and therefore unmarried
The native Children of Israel in the Mishnaic period were described as having skin the color of (a cross section) of boxwood, just as many native Sabra Israelis do today. The Mediterranean was not a dualistic black and white neighborhood. Intermediate shades of skin were the norm.
@@shevalazaros4427But that's not true. Some Ultra Orthodox Hasidic sects have specific requirements for covering the hair. Some don't even allow wigs, just the head wrap. And some requires the wig in conjunction with a little headband hat or some kind of covering. It goes by the rabbi's discretion and what their husband is comfortable with and how the other women on both sides of the family were raised.
so what i dont get why shave my own hair and put on other peoples hair?! it might be a jews girl hair that was shaved???😂😂 i dont get the purpose of shaving just wear a headcover and life is more easier 😊😊😊😊
I think the comment, “What’s the matter? No one wants to marry you?” was insensitive, not funny. I can tell he meant it as a joke, but what if the young lady had been a long time searching for her other half and was feeling upset about it?
Yes, but potentially very hurtful, unless she’s maybe a lot younger than she looks. If he’d said that to me, I’d have back-handed him…but I’m a 73 year old woman! Single, but if I’m invited to a Hasidic wedding I wear a scarf out of respect.
@@eugeniev-a4 they are using wigs that come from avoda Zara and the Lubavitcher rebbe never accepted such wigs or gave permission to use such wigs. so these people are fake.
Wait I don’t get it I’m not Jewish. So women wear wigs after they marry? In the Jewish religion? I didn’t know that. Why do they? They don’t wear headscarf’s ?
I don’t know why they do the wigs but I do know that the headscarf thing is Islamic not Jewish. Though maybe there’s sects of Judaism that do the scarf too I’m not sure
Many Rabbis don't allow wigs and married women cover their hair with tichels or scarves. It is common in some groups (such as Chabad Lubavitch) for married women to mainly wear wigs. The strictest Rabbis want married women to not only cover their hair completely but also advise not to attract attention from men and don't allow sheitels/wigs, especially long ones. Some Rabbis disallow wigs because there is a chance that human hair from Indian women cutting off their hair as a sacrifice and other idol worshippers' hair would be accidentally mixed in the wig, as the wig industry is hard to supervise carefully so that the wig is kosher. Any who married properly under Jewiah law is supposed to cover hair even if divorced or widowed. Of course, non-Orthodox generalky ignore the rules.
they are good wigs but still very easy to see that they are. it is silly to wear a wig which for many of these women is much more attractive than their natural hair. these rules are just absurd. One can be modest in appearance without such excess.
Yes exactly!!! Really doesnt make any sense. This is basically you thinking youre a genius and figured out a loophole on God. The Talmud concludes that hair covering is a biblical requirement for women. And being so then there is a reason that you cover. You cannot cover your real hair and then put a wig on thats flowing long beautiful hair. . . . Common now. Just think of how much sense does it make to wear two pairs of sunglasses on your face at the same time. By wearing a wig over your hair is just drawing the same amount if not more attention to yourself. Not to mention the time, money and effort you need to maintain it. Why not just do the simple, easy and correct way and just cover it up with a scarf???? Dont pick and choose which rules to follow and what degree you will follow them to.
what's the point? they're still showing off beauty, at least muslim women cover up their hair & leave it that, it's like covering up your breasts but putting fake breasts on top, attention will still be drawn even if they're not authenticity yours
Because Jewish women are not scared of “showing their beauty”. The point is that only a husband can see woman’s hair, strangers are allowed to see only a wig.
They’ll tell you they follow 613 laws. But for every one (especially infidelity) this is what they do, they just find an idyotic way around it that completely defeats the purpose.
Wth are you doing here if its to disrespect people AND Wise Men. You are the one ueducated and dare say "idiotic ways" as if it wasn't authorized by religious figures who HAVE studied the laws and books. Don't mix up your igorance and lack of education (repect) with others
@@eugeniev-a4 There’s NOTHING Wise about subverting God’s law as if you’re going to fool him or act as if you didn’t know any better simply because it wasn’t written in a book. God has given his people intelligence and the spirit to discern good from evil, if you cannot discern good from evil without a book telling you exactly what to do maybe you should reflect on your proximity to him.
I honestly can't stand the wig, all looks the same with no personality to it. Atleast with a tichel, so a headscarf, there's tradition backing it up and looks nicer and more modest 🤷
