I'm NOT Buying the New iPhone XS nor XS Max! 

I'm pretty happy with my iPhone X and am going to stick with it. I think the iPhone XR will ultimately be the device with far more legacy than either the XS or XS Max. They also have terrible names. The whole lot of them.

I buy phones every five years or so. We’ve been duped into thinking we need to switch to the newest phone every year. It’s insane. What a waste of money and a massive cancer on the environment. Hardly anything changes from year to year. You need about 2-3 years to see any worthwhile change and about 5-6 for your old phone to actually feel old. It used to be that people would buy electronics and keep them same model until it broke. What happened? When did we become so naive to think it’s weird not to switch to the new model every year?

As much as I hate sounding like a Jobs fanboy, Apple has shifted its focus from making great and exciting computing products for human beings to creating a cult and havest high profit margins. There's barely any innovation from Apple since finger print sensors.

The 120hz touch input is a really good point. It was on the X last year but they mentioned it this year to make it seem like there's a other feature for this year's upgrade.

I was buying iphones every year for the last 8 years.... but enough is enough, I´m sick and tired with all that "the best iphone ever made" shit, of course every new one should be better than the previous ones!!! And let´s be honest, those incredible improvements are indistinguishible, maybe just the camera, but nothing makes me feel surprise or excitement like the original Iphone, i´m done buying the same every year

Overpriced, 64gb starting? No usbc? Usb 2.0 data transfer? No fingerprint reader? No headphone jack? Added: Fast chargers should be standard now. Dongles should be included. IOS should allow app-level locking, and locked landscape mode for video (currently only locked portrait or automode). Added2: never owned an android, security/privacy is only thing holding me back along with imessage.

I upgraded from a 7+ to xs silver. I love it. Love the design and It makes me remember the first iphones. But i still miss the fingerprint home button and the 3.5 jack. Thks for the review rene.

Really enjoyed this vid... until you said the 'r' is a killer deal. It's just crazy we live in a world where apple sells their iPhones for double or triple the price of the original iPhone and we are Okish with it. I too am disappointed the SE is gone. But I think the reason there was nothing exciting to announce is because they have nothing new to announce. There is no innovation at apple anymore. Just repackaging of the same product. They honestly don't even try at producing good design anymore. How can they even dare the X is good for watching movies with that ridiculous notch/bar on the side? It's beyond disappointing what they used to be and what they have become now.

I'm switching from iPhone 7 to a jailbroken iphone SE and then disabling all updates and staying there. Apple ruined a beautiful operating system and a beautiful phone experience. Anyone who used a jailbroken iphone in the golden days knows what I mean.

I never understand why people need to buy a new phone every year. I had a mobile phone for 7 years till it finally broke, only had to replace a battery. Buy a new one when it is needed not because you think you always need to have the new ones. We live in a disposable world nowadays. Try to think about next generations as well.

Almost two decades ago I had a boss who also had art placed at galleries and museums. One thing I took away after so many years is him saying to have an item or two that were very expensive even if they didn’t sell. It would help sell other items and at the very least give the perception of quality. It is really marketing 101 and people fall for it all the time. In Apple’s case, the pricing is purposely staggered so it works both ways. For people who want to “save” money / get a “better” deal by comparing to the XS models and for people with disposable money who feel it is “just” a couple hundred more or a few bucks per month more. As a long time Apple user people were shocked I switched to Samsung S8+ even when I was (and made my whole family) fully into the Apple ecosystem. (iPhone 6S Plus, 10.5” iPad Pro, MBP, Apple Watch 2, iCloud, and heavy apps user) but I couldn’t bring myself pay retail for an iPhone 7 Plus which was essentially a bump upgrade from 6s plus. I have a friend who asked me for advice because her old android phone broke down. My first instinct was recommending buying an iPhone because she had an iPad Pro (because of me) but looking at the prices and offers, trade-in plus gift coupon it was just crazy to get an iPhone 8 Plus for doble the price of a Samsung 8+ gorgeous screen. For most people it doesn’t make financial sense to get iphones and pay 30% or more. Even design wise Samsung is on-par. And to say that iPhone XR with a resolution that definitely does not belong to a flagship phone in 2018 is gonna be a game changer really blows my mind.

Great video. Just a heads up, the Face ID def it quicker on the XS. I did a side by side comparison w my friends XS and my X. Really not a big deal though because it wasn’t so fast that I said...now THaT is a compelling reason to upgrade.

This is the first "Snazzy" vid I have wathed and well done. Actually very well done. Well thought out. and very strong points made. I'm NOT in love with my X as much as Snazzy but may stick with it another year its too narrow. but oh well...

XR? Is not competitively priced for the masses. $750! The screen res is way too low (not even 1080p). It's got a dated slow lightning cable, why not USB C? And again with the limited storage options.

When I say I can notice graininess on high contrast situations on my iPhone 7, people online will sometimes outright accuse me of lying, taking the iPhone 4 retina "you can't see the pixels!" as canon (it was at arms length and with a bunch of specific circumstances).

I have owned IPhones since IPhone 4 currently I have an IPhone 7 Plus. Where Apple is going is downhill! Bad naming. IPhone XR is same resolution as IPhone 4 and it’s over $700. I had really wanted the Max but it’s more almost as much as my house payment! I just can’t justify that for a phone. I also don’t really see any great improvements. So although everything I own is Apple I’m going to go Android does more than Apple already has the great display costs less and worth the try. Very disappointed in Apple they don’t even tell you how long the battery lasts also I miss the headphone jack!

@5:10 So, just updated, but unless I missed something, Portrait mode still requires a dual camera phone. At least on my iPhone 7, nothing changed in term of Camera app options. Too bad, would've loved to get Portrait mode on it :)

I appreciate that you keep the pauses between sentences natural in length. The edits are smooth as can be. So many videos not only have hosts who can barely read a single sentence without an edit, when they do the edits they are abrupt, jolting, and very unnatural. So again, thanks for doing it right! Could do without the music, though.

Fully agree. Was really looking forward to the larger model, but it’s $2000,- in the Netherlands, and there is barely any improvement. It’s basically a boost in speed and camera, and all of those “innovative” camera functions are things I’ve had for close to a year with Focos.

I miss the keynotes led by Steve Jobs. I remember thinking the iPad was a really stupid device, then I watched the keynote almost 7 months later, and I finished _needing_ the iPad. Steve Jobs had that way of making Apple devices feel like a necessity. This last keynote was underwhelming. I noticed much less live previews or demos, most were pre-recorded which is kind of shady. I'm still happy with my 7 Plus.

I appreciate it when Apple users like yourself speak out on issues like this. There is really no reason to upgrade if you have an X already. Unless you're upgrading from an iPhone 7 or below, if you're going to fork off another grand for a processor that's 15% faster, I question your life decisions. Apple used to be able to justify their prices by being the innovative powerhouse of the tech industry, but other companies have caught up and are now beating Apple at their own game at a lower price point. Look at the OnePlus phones for example. This company has resorted itself to nothing but a status symbol.

They pretty much used old iPhone X parts, put on a new processor, tweaked the software and sllaped an S at the end of it, Boom!

Next year's apple innovation 1. Will remove battery and provide Ac adaptor 2. Will remove speakers and tell us wireless speakers are the future 3. Will sell 480 p resolution screen for 1000$. More ideas are appreciated below.

When I heard you talk about that Dell streak I smiled more than I'd expected haha, I got that phone for super cheap on a trip (otherwise couldn't have afforded it) and it holds a special place in my heart! It was an absolute unit of a phone though 😂

thank you for this, excellent, I agree on so much of this. I have an iPhone SE and I'm hoping like mad they reboot the 4" form factor in future, or at least something smaller than what they have now. You know what my SE can do that NONE of the current lineup can? I can reach the topmost, furthest corner of the phone without weird acrobatics, one handed, with small lady hands. Let me say that again: *ONE HANDED*. it ALSO actually fits into these things called /POCKETS/, even on women's clothes. EDIT: also touch ID is very fast- I wasn't aware face ID was slower. Also, I can use any headphones I like since it has an audio jack lol. I don't know WHAT I'll do if apple doesn't make a phone with these features in a few years when this one is old...

I remember watching this video back when it was uploaded and thought you were crazy, but I just upgraded from a 6s to a XS. Holy crap I could not agree more, I would much prefer a slightly smaller phone closer to the size of the 6s and just as light. Reaching control center is SUCH a pain 🤦🏻‍♂️

my Mate10 and OnePlus 3 have both faceID since an update few months ago. It works on both phones incredibly fast. so fasst, that I just turned the option off. every time I'd like to see what time it is, the screen would unlock.

Honestly, the vast majority of people get into a two year commitment so they can own their device that they spent a $1000 on. Why would anyone upgrade after a mere 365 days anyway. I don’t think tech this good should be so disposable. Two years minimum for me.

Well said and nicely thought through. Apple I felt has let us down this time. Huge price and lack of good features to upgrade for = meh. 1st time ever I am going to stick with my iPhoneX and move on. I would like to fix the scratches but not critical.
