I'll be honest, completely removing health bars makes it LESS realistic, because clearly, you could tell that a Pikachu covered in wounds and bleeding is MORE injured than one that looks perfectly fine. In other words, keep the healthbar's colors, so you can tell if your Pokemon looks alright, injured, or at the brink of death.

I remember that last part really well, lol, I’m even in chat in the video. I think that was roughly the same stream where you got harassed by a Whismur, for like ten minutes, then spitefully caught one, got directly on your bike, and deliberately hate-crushed it into a wall in a cave. Im kinda sad you didn’t include that clip, since seeing that had me in stitches.

It’s unrealistic for every egg to be able to hatch, and for Pokémon to be able to have as many eggs as they want. Therefore if your Pokémon is too old or too young they have a bigger chance to become egg bound, lay infertile eggs, or have their newly born hatchlings die of complications shortly after hatching

That's unrealistic. No way that Snorlax or Aggron would get down from a bike crash. If anything it's you that goes down (unless it's a Snorlax - it's basically a safety cushion).

Given that adef _did_ just release a video about how the bikes in Emerald are basically jets, it makes perfect sense that crashing into something with your bike would kill a Pokemon

All these mechanics made me remind of Digimon World from PS1. All these things would make the game more realistic, fun, challenging and make you bond with the pixels on the screen.

I wonder if any of these ideas can be added to this realistic version: - Thirsty status. Grass types, Ice types & Water types need more water than other Pokémon. However, Cacturne line can perish from overwatering & Rock types never get thirsty, & liquid hurts them. Steel types need oil as a drink instead, as water hurts them. Oil is toxic to non-steel types unless they're Poison type or have Immunity. - Diseases can be cursed, but this increases the cost of Pokémon Centers, depending on the illness. "Insect Bite", 'Skin Rash", "Infested" & "Sunburn" are surprisingly cheap to curse, but "Broken Bones", "Amnesia", "Blindness", "Deafness", "Anemia" etc.. are expensive to curse. "Daycare Rash" & "Severe Amnesia" are unfortunately not curable statuses (since they're based on real life illnesses that have no cure). - Pokémon can be vaccinated to prevent illnesses spread by wild Pokémon. This does cost 100 money, but it IS important! - Make sure to put sun screen on certain Pokémon if there's harsh sun. If they're exposed to harsh sunlight for too long, they'll get sunburned. While sunburned, thid causes a Pokémon to sometimes ignore orders due to pain. - Using too many Rare Candies on one Pokémon in a short time causes them to get a sugar rush. This acts like Parental Bond ability. But after a while, they'll get a Sugar Crash, which acts like Truant. This will thankfully wear off over time. - Overweight. Feed a Pokémon too much & they'll need to be walked a lot of steps to remove it. Left unchecked for too long can cause the Pokémon to perish at a random time without warning due to heart problems. - If a Pokémon that's hit by Infatuation defeats the Pokémon that used it on them, they become heartbroken & become stressed. - The PC can get hacked & all your rare & shiny Pokémon are stolen (2% chance that increases if you do not update the PC anti-virus or scan with it) - The PDA can be hacked & you lose all money (2% chance that increases if you don't update the software that prevents it) - Water type Pokémon that are fish will d*e if not given Fresh Water or if you haven't surfed in a long while - Ice types will perish from heatstroke if they're left in sunlight weather in a battle for too long. - Burn status will act like poison on Grass types & Bug types ;if you don't use Fresh Water on them afterwards, they burn up & perish. - Confusion, ss well as self-inflicted damage causes the Pokémon to sometimes attack other members, fling away its item, attack an ally or destroy an item from your bag in a rage - Losing to a Team Magma grunt has them replace all Water & Ice types with Fire & Ground types & Aqua replaces all Fire & Ground types with Water & Ice types - Pokémon get the Confusion status if you use any bitter medicines on them (they're the no-no leaf!) - Allergies (Pokémon lose HP if they're given the item that causes their allergy to flare up) - If a Pokémon becomes too stressed (from being in the PC for too long, put against too many opponents that cause fear, etc.) they may start inflicting damage on themselves in battle. - Rock types will drown if you try to use surf when they're in the top of the party. - Going too fast on the Bike for too long can make certain Pokémon vomit, which makes them instantly thirsty. - Freeze status causes death. Realistic Moves: - Pin Missile, Bug Bite & Poison Sting will cause rashes if hit by those moves. - Infestation (even though it's not in Gen 3) causes fleas, which will spread to other Pokémon if not removed by a Pokémon Center. These have a small chance to cause anemia & a high chance of a rash. - The move Acid will give Pokémon sore skin. Steel types will get rust/corrosion (lethal disease that needs anti-rust to treat, or they'll perish). - Using Bite on a Steel type or Rock type causes the user to lose a lot of HP. - Poison types will cause Grass & Bug types to perish if they're hit by a Poison type move - Pokémon can get eaten; a larger Pokémon based on a predator using a biting move causes them to instantly faint, & it says "Name was devoured!". The move Swallow has a chance for the Pokémon to actually eat another Pokémon too, if they're smaller than the user. If a snake Pokémon uses these moves, however, they'll be able to eat Pokémon that are bigger as well. - Bug Bite & Poison Sting cause skin rashes. - Guillotine is instant perma-death (for obvious reasons) - If a Pokémon is hit with Metal Sound or Screech too many times, they become deaf; they may sometimes not hear orders, but are also immune to sound-based moves. - Leech Life can cause a Pokémon to become severly anemic; in the case of Golbat, they will perish due to being drained dry by them. - Flash & other bright light based moves will cause blindness; blindness takes 25% of accuracy permanently away from the Pokémon. - The move Whirlpool can drown Pokémon that get caught in it if they don't defeat the user before the theee turns end (it's basically Perish Song, but only affects the target). - Moves like Stomp, Body Slam, Rollout, Ice Ball, Jump Kick, Hi Jump Kick & all moves involving Rock throwing or slapping has a high chance to instantly crush a Bug type. This also happens to Pokémon that have used Minimize. - The move Amnesia, while it does boost stats, will literally make the user lose all their known moves & reset them back to their old moves they started with. This ironically does NOT cause the "amnesia" status ailment. - Flatter has a chance to cause Infatuation instead of Confusion. - Constrict, Wrap & Bind cause immobility like in Gen 1. If you don't have a Pokédoll on you, that Pokémon will suffocate. - Rock throwing moves & slamming into a wall too often with a Bike without any protecting items held can cause concussions, aka "Amnesia"; this status will cause confusion in battle, & the target's moveset gets reset; this goes away over time, but if the Pokémon gets hit again during this status, they get the "Severe Amnesia" status, where they slowly forget everything slowly & will perish (basically Everywhere at the End of Time).

If we're adding Pokémon Life Spans, why not the life span of the trainer? That way you're under a time limit to beat the game before getting old and dying

Actually, Blastoise & Wartortle have official lifespans of around 10 THOUSAND years, not a mere 150. Another Pokémon that had its lifespan revealed was a member of the Pidgey line. Don't remember which one but I know it wasn't Pidgey itself. Though with Blastoise & Wartortle living for the same amount of time, maybe all evolutions share a lifespan? Anyway, it was around 100 years.

I have no idea if it's real info or just a rumor, but I heard that in the early stages of development of Red/Green the idea was to hide your Pokemon's healthbar and communicate its health instead via textboxes and even changes in the sprites. I doubt Pokemon would have gotten as popular as it is now if your cute little Pikachu slowly got more beat up and miserable during a battle (which is probably why it never got implemented), but I always found that idea interesting. Now I know it would be even worse than I had imagined.

Woah if it was truly realistic baby Pokémon would get stds. Because babies are not immune to diseases especially ones where if you fought and came in contact the disease would spread (fighting babies is kinda messed up to come to think of it)

Ironically having to pay such amounts of money to heal your Pokémon is actually less realistic considering this region is based on Japan which has fairly inexpensive healthcare. Also Japan has been rabies free since 1957 so pokerus really shouldn’t be rabies. Not that the fact mutually beneficial viruses do exist and it can be cured kinda says that much already This would only be realistic to an American ngl
