*Critiques of Nngannou, Fury, or AJ - need to chill!* *Styles make fights.* *Fury's Nngannou performance* was no different from *AJ's first Ruiz performance.* Both Fury and AJ underestimated their opponent and picked the wrong style to fight them. Ruiz and Nngannou can both be EASILY outboxed - but you don't want to try and immediately walk them down, bully them, and chase the KO - because they are durable, short, stocky, and explosive fighters - and if you fight them on the inside (like Fury/AJ tried to do in their poor performances), then Ruiz/Nngannou have a good chance of catching you with their shorter, faster, more explosive arms. *But imagine Nngannou vs Ruiz or Martin Bakole! Ruiz is a lot worse than people realize - so it would be a great toe-to-toe war!*

I'm glad you're finally giving AJ his dues Carl, I think although you make some good points on the confidence issues and you're not wrong. You were quick to write him off and I'm probably paraphrasing here but basically saying he's finished. For me it just galvanises that old saying that you should never kick a man when he's down. I think AJ has shown great fortitude in the way he's handled himself since the Usyk losses and it's testiment to his character. Does he have what it takes to get back in there with Usyk and take back the belts? Let's maybe not get ahead of ourselves but I think we are starting to have good reason to believe that this style for AJ could be more competitive against an Usyk. Ben Davison to his credit seems to have been the catalyst to these changes and I'm liking this pairing. All of a sudden I think Fury/Aj/Boxing fans in general will be even more excited about the prospect of an AJ v Fury showdown and that is a hard fight to predict now, since it may depend on which versions of both men turn up on the night.

Yeah just like Chisora got 3 bites at the cherry!! I’m not saying AJ would beat USYK, but it’s been clear to me for a while that AJ is a fighter playing catch-up and never had the amateur pedigree of boxing from a young age as fury and Usyk did, he’s constantly been learning on the fly, if he gets another crack at Usyk then he has a much better chance, I’ve always had him to beat Fury, even more so now that we are seeing the decline of fury before our eyes!!
@pandabear1576
@pandabear1576 3 месяца назад
Given the closeness of the rematch and the fact Joshua is going to force his way into contention the fight will always be worth it. In fact, Joshua is on a better run leading into a possible trilogy than when they first fought. He rematches Ruiz and beats Pulev before going into Usyk lol. Now he’s on a 3 fight KO streak that’s the AJ you want fighting Usyk

I agree with most of that, except the bit about never seeing Ngannou in the ring again. I thought that was a bit strong. He’s just found his level that’s all, which I think is at the bottom end of Top 10, and he’s got plenty more to learn which may be a big ask at 37 but as long as he’s feeling good why not? Top 10 is still pretty remarkable after 2 fights. With all that being said. it was good that AJ r restored not just his career prospects but also the reputation of heavyweight boxing, silencing g those MMA junkies.

Ngannou's confidence went from being too cautious with Fury to I'm invincible against AJ, his defence was awful and walked into AJ's telegraphed bombs, his lack of boxing skills were easy for AJ to exploit due to his overconfidence. To use a football analogy, against Fury he parked the bus and countered, against AJ he was all guns blazing thinking he was Barcelona!!!

“New and improved” is a massive reach. Same boxer, fighting at a much lower level. If you does that against a top ten ranked fighter, it might mean something. Against Wallin - the softest puncher in the division, and Ngannou, a man who isn’t a professional boxer. He’s boxing at a lower level, that’s all.
