The guy who made Dusk posted about it on his Twitter as he really liked it, though that is possibly because he is the world's biggest Chasm: The Rift fan. I think a lot of folks picked it up after he made a fuss about it.
It was surprisingly fun I have to say! I've been wanting to jump back in and play again after this recording :D I'll be streaming realms deep over here on the tube so if you want to catch it with us feel free to join! Nice I heard it's really beautiful at times :) (Starfield)
Can't wait for seal boy to see this😊 And bro that's awesome you cover Darkverse Rogue here. I just saw another channel mention it. Seems the game is causing a stir
I saw it, I’m wearing my hat with no shame. I kinda feel special actually right now, I think everyone should out themselves at least once that they missed a video. It has been quite invigorating.
Hey man great channel you have here! I'm trying to drop the PvP FPSs because are too time-consuming for me and you recommend great stuff! I'm probably getting that Deadlink because of one of your vids, keep it up!
Hey! So glad to hear that you enjoy the videos, and yeah one of the reasons I started playing these games was due to the fact that other FPS games are just so time consuming and stressfull imo. :)
There's definitely something weird going on with the weapon animations/firing in Hell Denizen; just watching the footage it took my brain a while to accept that the shots were coming out of the weapon model. I think you're right about it being related to the choppy animation but I think it's also something to do with the projectile effects, something about them made it look like slow-mo was kicking in briefly everytime you fired the shotgun, very trippy effect.
I liked hell denizem but strongly agree with your criticizm, hopefully its adressed. Also, I hated how long the bullets trails lingered around. Loved the rocket launcher with its guiding mechanics... at least it seemed taht it could be useful. Although I recall unreal 98 return to napali had this and Im not sure it was really that useful.
Hey Zlim! I enjoy retro/boomer shooters! I enjoy your videos as well. Keep up the good work! Following you a short time I know you have a job to support you family and that you have kids! If you need to reduce the amount of videos because of your family or job, just do it but don't quit on us. Game community need guys like you! Congrats to you and your channel! I am 52 yo and have 3 boys that are the joy of my life!
Hey! Thank you sir for the kind words and understanding, it's always hard keeping a good balance but I will likely have to tone it down now and then to spend time with my lovelies (family) I always do and then make videos in the night which instead results in going to bed way too late :/ However glad you enjoy the videos and for the understanding, glad to have you here! :)
When I was only playing on console, 30fps seemed like more than enough. Now that I've been gaming almost entirely on PC for several years now, I really notice if I have anything less than 70fps. Ray tracing is a neat idea but I'd rather have consistently higher fps:D
Yeah the thing is if a game is locked at 30 it usually feels pretty good, but with the variable fps it feels awful when it drops :( And I agree ray tracing in all honor but frames is where it's at haha
@@ZlimBratSki Yea if you're going from 90fps to 50, it can be very disconcerting. The thing that bugs me most is that screen tearing. Like one line of pixels lags out for a moment creating a jagged effect on screen
Ahhhhhh yes zortch, the game I outed myself with on stream……a fine game indeed! Well I’m here today! And I need me some more of this rogue light boomer shooter goodness, two genres that go together like bread and peanut butter!! If that guy who hates sewers ever gets to these I’m gong to be like “the brats already know”
Perilous Warp does give off Doom 3 vibes. It reminds me of Chasm: The Rift if it was built in the id tech 4 engine. I think it's the chunky enemy models and the ragdoll physics. The way the enemies drop like a sack of wet potatoes after you fill them with lead is very Doom 3-ish.
Awesome vid, very entertaining. And due to your rip, I'm glad it is not a rip off 😂 Eating something and watching a Zlim clip becoming a habbit😊 Your suprise with the jump made me also laugh in Soulslinger. 😂 this is my fav on this list.
i already got PerilousWarp in my library, but never heard of it...........that's weird Soulslinger was on my wishlist, reminds me of good old Darkwatch
Hell Denizen looks really good. Someone loves their Quake 2 very much. xD Thanks for spreading the good word, brother. I got Perilous Warp 2 or 3 years ago. Really well-made little shooter, quite underrated. Perfect blend of Chasm, Unreal, Half-Life and Doom 3. Good shit.
!Thanks Zlim! Oh! By The Way-! Did you know-? That The...? !PUMP! Action!- Double Barrel? Shotty?! AND MACHINE GUN Came From-? ¡¿CHASM?! ¡¡¿¿The Rift??!!
Thanks man appreciate that! I would really love to post the link but YT has some new policy were if the system suspects a link is not legit it removes the video just like that. And it's happened so I don't want to risk it again :(
hell denizen reminds me of a german free fps called cube. soulslinger is the definition of graphics no gameplay and while i was into perilous warp, it fell apart near the end, sad because the engine was top notch it looked great and run great.
OO I gotta check out Cube! Did you play Soulslinger? It has some things going for it that was actually really good and fun but yeah a lot of effort in the graphics.
It is not. Chasm The Rift was developed by Action Forms, a company from Ukraine. Held together by its four core members, Action Forms continued to deliver projects that clearly show skills and talent at game design. Vivisector and Cryostasis were developed by them. The company's last known effort was seen at 2011. After that year it appears to either be out of business or in a state of dormancy. Whatever noob (or noobs) came up with the idea of stealing IPs from old works of that company, - has none of the design skill, and it shows. Nothing in common there.
Some good stuff here... and also Perilous Warp. 😂 I joke of course I played that game 100% a while ago and it really didn't resonate with me, but I understand it has it's fans. I do love the shotgun, clearly heavily inspired by Chasm: The Rift
Not inspired, but directly stolen. Along with many other assets from that game. Minigun, scorpions, items, props, you name it. Pure plagiarism on the silver platter. Ironically, none of that stealing helped. Chasm was a competently made project. This, on the other hand, is a flop that was pretty much dead upon arrival.
Hell denizen looks somewhat unfinished, maybe play one level of Arcane dimensions while you wait for the quake-likes to be done. (im being somewhat facetious, im not trying to harass you)
I dislike Rogue games. Darkverse: Rogue on the other hand i will probably buy. I saw it can get quite frantic in the late game. Hell Denizen: The shotgun animations look like they have no frame interpolation. The level design looks nice, sound is terrible. Soulslinger: Looks boring to me on first glance, but it's just a small slice of the game, that is not representing the whole product. The skelleton trader was cool. It was probably done for readability but the map was very monochrome. The sound sounded good and the map seems to have a nice amount of details. Perilous Warp i have yet to buy, but it scratches my itch for high quality trash and i liked Chasm: The Rift. thanks for the vid. Edit: Somebody probably already mentioned it but Perilous Warp is the spiritual succcessor the Chasm: The Rift.
Glad you liked the look of Darkverse, it was a really solid experience the demo! Hell Denizen is a classic example of it shows potential but needs more polish. Yeah I really didn't show all that much of soulslinger either there is a little more to it then the snippets i showed, reason is I have to try and keep each game as effective as I can so people wont lose interest, but it's worth a spin even tho it's performance issues. Oh I had no idea it was a spiritual successor to chasm thansk for sharing that :)
It definitely is not. Not unless one of the four original developers officially says so. And i would be rather surprised if they did, cause the design skill gap between the two games is nothing short of indescribable. Chasm was developed by people who exhibited talent, PW was clubbed together by noobs who are yet to learn how it's done. The former does feature assets from Chasm, which were either bought, or most likely just stolen and then retextured. Rather crudely so, i must say. With the same degree one could say that Doom Eternal is a spiritual successor to Elevator Action.
_DarkVerse looks like a must play for me, I will likely check out the demo tonight. Great video as always Zlim_ -@Perjoss circa ~2023 Exactly! except I will do that NOW! Great Format too! engaging for sure 100% feels like a demo walkthrough but not too long
