I Played The WORST F1 Game Ever 

I know this was only of the Codies series but I can tell you that I found 2015 equally poor, and 2006 for PS2 is SO much better than both of them.

When I was a kid I decided to buy my first F1 game. I didn't have a lot of money, so I had the choice between the game of the same year for 45€ or the older one for 25€. So in 2014 I bought F1 2013 and it was probably the best choice an uninformed idiot could have ever taken, as I didn't look up the reviews before.

i guess the reasons for this being a full price f1 2013 update were that: - they were a far smaller team than what they are today - they were working on a completly new game engine - let´s face it: they arent the best game developers in the world I mean even in F1 2015 which had that new engine they didn´t have the time to implement a proper career mode or fix major bugs (but meh, they still don´t fix bugs before release so maybe they´re just very lazy as well).

I played that game for about 420 hours. With a keyboard only. It was the only "not-Need-for-Speed" type of racing game I had and I really enjoyed it back then. Nowadays it may seem riddiculus, but back then . . . I loved it. It also made me quite a qick keyboard racer, so much so that a year and a bit ago on F1 2020 before I had a wheel I managed one pole in an otherwise quite unremarkable season of league racing. To this day I would guess that over 60% of all my playtime on all F1 games combined (which is still not that much, only about 1080 hours over F1 2014, 2018 and 2020) was done only on a keyboard.

I played this game a lot back on xb360, and there was a glitch where you could keep the drs on sochi much longer with brake assist on if you keep your foot down

Correct me if I'm wrong, but back in 2014 the ERS system was controlled completely by the engine management system and was essentially "always on". There was no button to control it inside the car and the F1 game depicted that accurately. Of all the issues that game had, this is not one of them. Also, 2014 is not great, but 2015 was a lot worse from what I remember.

One of the thing I started liking about this game is the modding community... People started to create and port f1 2022 car in it and they handle "good"

F1 2013 was very good at the time. Codemasters somehow managed to copy it but make it worse in every aspect. F1 2014 felt like it got developed in 5 minutes

This was the first f1 game I had and was like... This is... Crap!! Fast forward 8 years later; F1 2021 is amazing.

I remember when this game came out. Everyone was expecting a next-gen release because it had been a year since the next-gen consoles came out and F1 2013 just missed those releases, but alas it was just F1 2013 reskinned and worse. I think the problem lied in the fact that Codies had to do two things at the same time: create/heavily modify an engine for the next-gen consoles, and create an entirely new model for the engine/ERS/regen etc. If they had tried to put 2014 on next-gen it probably would have been an even greater disaster than 2015 was on launch

I'd imagine their focus was on the 2015 game as it was the first on next-gen consoles at the time. So they did a copy-paste to get something out. And to be fair to Codies, they added the 2014 cars into 2015 as well

2015 was better in physics but much worse in corner cutting and in glitches. But 2014 was just pure crap to drive every car felt like a truck... And pad users had a massive advantage compared to wheel users... So much so that most leagues used to seperate controller and wheel users in different divisions. Mad

F1 2014 is a type of game when you think is truly awful and you'll find out it isn't that bad, but when you think this game is good then you'll be really disappointed after playing it.

2015 is worse in many ways, especially because it doesn't add anything new in terms of features other than higher hardware requirements on top of removing features from 2014, like career mode.

Funny story. I remember buying F1 2014 in 2015. I remember it costed significantly less than F1 2013 and F1 2015 at the time and I didn't know why. But I still bought it. As a kid, I never understood why. Now, that I'm playing F1 2021, I'm just wishing I had bought F1 2013 instead 😂

I was pretty much the same, played 12 & 13 loads then left 14 after a couple hours, im a controller & auto gears noob & the handling & the way the power unit worked with it was so weird, like it sounds like you're over reving it constantly you were so slow

2012 was GREAT. 18 was OK, the graphic little silly. 19 was good. 20 WAS 🤩🤩 21 is … 🤔🤔

I had f1 2014 on my xbox 360 and I kinda dislike it, but yknow. Memories.

I believe the F1 2014 handeling model was the same as F1 2012/2013, but hastely adapted to the new cars. It just didn't work for the V6 cars.

If you use redbull, and press the kers button there is an animation of the guy pressing the button even tho it's not in the game

Something add as well, I was quite anxious of how well they would get this years game right but in reality they probably started work back in late 2019 early 2020 as the new regulations would come in but then covid happened, I potentially think this game has had a good few hours spent on creating and developing it and I hope it’s a really well rounded polished game

I think this game was intended to be next gen but the new game wasn't ready so they pushed it back to 2015(And it was hardly finished in 15 as well when it shipped). Think this is part the reason the 2014 season was included in that game, also due to lack of content as well I imagine. It would also explain why this game is 2013 with updated car models and handling that tries to mimic the understeery/oversteery 14 cars. It just felt rushed in general and think part the reason was unrealistic expectations shipping to next gen. I think the modding in this game is pretty good though. Still has a decent mod community which makes it a decent enough budget F1 game. Think they even added halo to the game, plus there are some fun classic season mods as well(Using classic cars or tracks from 2013 game).

I think they had started working on the next gen version but they did not make it at the end. So they decided to just update f1 2013 with 2014 liveries.

2014 was the last of a console era (PS3 and Xbox 360), so they might not be able to intoduce many things on it. its the game i played the most cuz is the last f1 i have so i get used to it

This was the first F1 game I played and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, until I played the following year's game... I think the worst part about this game was the tire degradation. The tires would just completely fall off the cliff without any indication and you would lose 2 seconds over the course of a lap, while the AI didn't seem to be affected by this.

There wasn't ers on f1 till 2018. That made a huge difference, but the implementation on 2020 was so good.

To be fair, if they know they’re switching to a new engine for 2015, the work for that probably starts quite far in advance so sacrificing 2014 for 2015 makes sense. Why they didn’t plan for the new engine to coincide with the new regulations and cars doesn’t make sense however.

Some say F1 2015 was the worst but I actually quite enjoyed it because I had never played this game so for me while F1 2015 didn't have a Career mode (Which were not great at that point anyways) It did allow me to do an F1 2014 and F1 2015 season so I basically did get to do a mini Career mode so I got quite a bit out of 2015. I don't think I played 2016 for much longer than 2015

Have you tried f1 2009 tho?

To be honest, this f1 2014 has better physics than the f1 2021. F1 2021 car will not slip unless you touched kerb in high turn while holding the pedal.

Oversteering like crazy with no impression of control no matter the settings, not to mention the VRRRRRRRRRRRRRR sound.

Tbh i think 2015 was even worse like how can you release an f1 game without a career mode? I hated the handling (only played with controller tho) and the game atleast on pc had so many issues with just starting up for me while i know my pc is definitely capable of running it, imo 2015 was pure shite

They didn't focused on the F1 2014 game because of F1 2015. For content, F1 2015 was worse because it has no career option.

No sparks, no feedback on the steering wheel even you drove with keyboard, no feedback on the car (on the rear of the car) if you over steer it’s just make a huge revs of the engine and nothing happend on the car. This 2014 is really poor physics. 2013 still the best game for me (and for my pc spec actually)

F1 2015 was a big mess when it was released and it took them until F1 2018 to add ERS simulation, so there's no way they could have done much better with F1 2014 unless they started developing 2015 something like 1 year earlier than they actually did.

There was no ERS till 2019 at least not useable

It's a half assed game cos they were busy working on next gen at the time 2015. But 2015 turned out to be a disaster as well. So poor choices all round really. Just a filler game. I remember one withering review at the time - "We'll post a new review when they release a new game".

that's indeed a bad game but it's not the worst F1 game ever, not at all. In the 90s there was a lot of shit involving Formula One, such as "Prost Grand Prix" or "Formula 1 98" which are in fact really bad games. F1 2014 is not as bad as these shit games and it has a very loyal and active modding community as well.

2014 was bad I agree worst of modern games. F198 was worse a downgrade on 97 and original f1 game. These newer ones are so much better.
