30:25 Yeah, but the problem is, most companies want you to have AT LEAST 1 year driving experience.. You also need your CDL in order to even be considered for those jobs.. Exactly, i believe companies like swift are the best starting ground for truckers. You put in your 1 or 2 years, learn everything you can, continue to get endorsements, learn how to haul different types of freight, and then leave. This opens so many opportunities to work for companies that pay really well but also require at least 1 or 2 years of experience.

I left Swift for the same reasons: low pay, and lack of home time. Their "academy" costs are outrageous. I paid around $2,500.00, back in 2005. And when hard pressed for drivers, they will not charge anything. I stayed on until my loan was paid off, then I found a better job. I took a vacation, and was hired by the first truck driving company that I applied for. Remember, if things don't work out, you can always return to Swit.

Good thing about CDL work, you'll never go hungry, unless you choose to..... Looking forward to see what the new company brings ya 👍 Ain't no shame in changing companies, some places are only temporary until you find what fits you best. I remember you mentioned you wanted to be a pilot as well, it's the same way there on the commercial side. That's what I went to school for and what drove me away from it. Besides the costs, it's all about the contacts you get while you work your way up I used to drive Uber and Lyft for 5 years in Florida. You can make money, but a lot of these drivers don't account maintenance, fuel, etc... So they don't really know their real numbers. Don't believe the hype. Not too many are making top dollar. It's great when it's great. But Uber and Lyft are paying 53 cents a mile in a lot of the big cities and it's not consistent in some cities. You can have a $50 week or a $1000 week depending on your grind, and assuming the surge pricing is good in the area. That's when it pays to drive events and stuff. Have some show their taxes 😉 many are in the red for a reason. If they can't show an actual profit, they aren't actually making money lol a lot have this mindset that if they have spending money it means they are making money...... nope! Business 101 lol. the ones making money are the ones referring people to get the bonuses and strictly driving during surge periods. The rest are one breakdown away from losing it all. I stopped driving for them when 100 mile trips which used to make me a lot, started only making $50 or less. Add deadhead miles on top if you end up out of your area, those 53 cents go down to 26 cents lol

Just finally finished up the video and did want to say one thing. The pay under 1yr for a brand new otr I can understand to a point. Unsure if they self insure but I’m sure they do. An example of this is on my quotes. This is Louisiana. No cdl experience 1 year insurance on my own truck is $64500. After 2 years it would currently be around $11700. They do have to make up expected payout costs on insurance. But after 6 months or a year I do completely agree it should be higher.

Don´t know if someone already wrote this, but as far as I know, there is a technique against wildfires where firefighters light a small controlled fire to burn down an area, which in turn stops the wildfire from spreading uncontrollably because there is nothing left to burn. It´s called Backburning or Fuelburning.

Brother. Nothing out of the ordinary. Allot of starters carriers.Such as SWIFT. Drivers are way under pay. Mainly because their drivers are new to the game and they need somewhere to start. But take what a recruiter tells you with a grain of salt. Their main objective is to put butts in the trucks. You can get good info from drivers. Now some drivers like to only see the negatives and vice versa. So just do your research. Stay strong brother.

Swift as a company has gotten much better. But they have some really low pay. In all honesty Chez as an entry level/beginner truck drive you SHOULD be making at least $1,100-$1,500 a week. I am going to enter OTR soon. We have DSW here in Tucson right at the swift yard off valencia, and wilmot. It might be good if I go into them because of the home time benefits I receive and the loads I get to choose. DSW is a contractor for swift, who I hope pay around what I should be making, but if not I'll go to Schneider and deal with forced loads. I at least know I will make what I should be.

I respect your video and the information you talked about. I am about to start my career with a mega carrier next week. One of the draws was going through their driving school to get my CDL. Do you think that for new drivers our expectations are just to high. I understand where I’m going and what I will be dealing with. I get that the pay won’t be great, trucks might not be the best and I may not get everything I’m promised. I get that and I accept that. The trade off for me is I’m getting my CDL, getting some experience and making myself more valuable to a better company who would not have hired me if I had done this. This mega carrier is giving me that opportunity and I am thankful. I think that if my expectations were too high then I’m just setting myself to fail. This is the first step and I’m willing to pay my dues. Stater companies are called that for a reason. Good luck glad your bettering yourself. Congratulations

Remember: Life, family, and health is number one. Money is number two. NEVER EVER MAKE MONEY THE NUMBER ONE IN LIFE!!! IT'LL LEAD TO BIG TROUBLES DOWN THE ROAD!
