As someone with a boring office job make sure you think long and hard before leaving trucking because the grass definitely isn’t greener on the other side
I’ve had an office job doing graphic design - Always wanted to truck and now I do, working on my 2nd year started regional heavy flatbed and now doing local hourly hauling woodchips making 8-10k a month. Other side of it, I know every crack and bend in the road, every broke down car and in the winter chaining is required 2-3 times a day and I have no local yard since my company is based out of a different area so makes things a little harder but wouldn’t change it - home every night, 12-16hr days 5 days a weeks, no governor and no camera with new equipment.
@@danbobway5656 lol I'm 49yo and I worked in I.T for over a decade man. Sitting at a desk reading company policy that is being churned out daily by faceless ppl and other nonsense. While I haven't been a trucker I have worked for 4 years as a furniture delivery driver in a cube truck. You're just wrong dude. Dealing with management and office politics is mentally frustrating and draining beyond anything I've dealt with in a work environment. If you want greener grass you have to be self employed. Be it as a trucker or an I.T guy or whatever. Working for corporate America is a death sentence for your mind and spirit I promise that. Do you really want to be a grown man singing happy birthday to Suzie in cubicle 47, being led thru stretching exercises in morning meetings by some corporate r-tard, have to participate in charity bs that is only in place to make the company look good, etc etc etc? If you think cancel culture is bad on the internet well you're gonna be in for a rude awakening at your awesome new desk job folks lolol. Ppl get paid to literally come up with more ways to make you a drone. You can't say this you can't wear that and don't do X on your own social media because we will fire you etc etc etc. Oh and if it isn't clear already you spend more time in dumb meetings daily and syncs to go over and re-enforce all these policies and changes as well being taught as a grown man how to be emotionally sensitive to others and the like or God forbid your in sales how to lie and swindle for the company. You act as if corporate America just let's you come in sit down and do the job they hired you for, au contraire mon frère, you'll spend half the day being brainwashed via HR propaganda, being lorded over by middle management that couldn't do your job if they wanted to, and then be asked "why didn't you meet the deadline" lol. I mean hey, if you want to be sterilized and work in a sterile environment then ig a corporate job could be for you. Personally I'd rather get a vasectomy in a back alley and spend the day in a prison cell, and I've been to prison before for 18mo and know what being in a cell is like. Don't be a sucker be self reliant. It's the only path to a happy life
Didn't think I could really do it but I took the leap of faith and got it done, passed my CDL exam 5 days ago, thanks for all the videos bro, esp. since you and other YTers helped me understand exactly what I was getting myself into!
With that CDL you have so many options beyond OTR. OTR is just a small slice. And a lot of those other options can pay very well whether you're home daily or weekly. You'll find what fits ya. Look into the specialized trucking especially. Expedited, boats, etc... Even the utility companies hire their own CDL drivers. My cousin was a trainer at CR England, he got tired of living on the road too, so he left them and went local. Does pretty well
I love ure personality and character, it’s really pure and beautiful and I pray to the Almighty to ease any pain or anxiety you go through and to grant u guidance and bless u with abundance of joy and success in whatever decision you make. Keep ure head up high and remember all these struggles make u strong and will be a source of goodness one day brother❤
Just today I passed my test at the Swift Fontana academy and will be doing reefer otr out of Jarupa Valley just like you did a couple years back lol. Gonna be honest it was your videos that first inspired me to be a truck driver, didn't think I'd be this far to be honest. Glad to see you're still making videos! Stay safe out there!
Your our in Cali huh I'm from riverside man and I'm trying to find a place to go go I'm a machine operator for a steel company but the pay isn't cutting it I want to make a change any advice hope all is well for you man
Your job is not to entertain us, but to drive the trucks. We get pure fulfillment and enjoyment out of watching whatever you decide to share with us, whenever that may be. Welcome back. 🙂
CHEZ LIVES! Man, I started watching you for your OTR videos. I can't promise I will keep watching after but I'll just have to see what content you put out and how I feel about it. Not trying to be rude, just being honest. Regardless I enjoyed watching you progress through your trucking career and I thank you for sharing it because I will be starting school with CFI in December. So when you're quitting, I'll be starting 😂And I'll be making videos of my own experience too 😂 You are an inspiration to me and a lot of other people. But you need to do what makes you happy and we all understand that. You do you 🙂 Also, it's not the snow you need to worry about, it's the ice! Growing up in Iowa I am confident in driving in the snow, it's just the ice you need to worry about 🙃
Bro, no way!! You stopped at the speedway in my home town Elkin Nc. Keep trucking brother and stay safe out there. Been watching since your vids at swift.
Man... thank you so much for doing these videos, you have no idea how much I enjoy the sound of that dd15, God bless you and I hope you get your dreams come true
Boy! It's been a minute and I've been busy myself had free time and was glad to see you have been doing well!! Your videos are entertaining and I love your accent as you talk. Young Buck you keep doing your thing and holding down the family!!!
yessir we out here non stop grinding forsure !! keep up the hard work it will pay off at the end😬💪💯 thanks for watching fam🙏 hope you doing well yourself !!
yessir we out here non stop grinding forsure !! keep up the hard work it will pay off at the end😬💪💯 thanks for watching fam🙏 hope you doing well yourself !!
I'm getting done otr also and going local, I feel the same way. I wish you the best in whatever path you decide to take in. Your happiness is most important.
Bro I’m so grateful your alive and well 💪🏽 bro just stay prayed up because the same thing your going through not knowing what you want to do further on in life is kicking my ass also 😅 but god bless its all love bro 🙏🏽
Aye came through with another one chez🫡 Im glad your doing good! I’ve been watching you since the beginning and still planning on going to swift in January thanks to you! Just have to get all this weed out of me😤😂 but keep up the good work and focus on making that money! Thanks for coming back to us after all this time, you’re a real one🥇🐐
Good to see you another video. I started watching you when I started getting my license with swift. I did 6 months with them and now I am running with a small guy out of Pennsylvania and yeah man, the rates are straight trash. Good luck with the next step in your life, you owe yourself above all so don’t worry about disappointing anyone. On the fuel thing with electric vehicles, remember how prices went down during the COVID lock down because no one driving? The news reported it like we was suppose to feel sorry for oil billionaires. I don’t think the whole electric cars thing is going to be that popular.
Now I can tell you are almost professional you talk like professional you act like professional but you've got a lot to learn and talking brother that's a main job that's mean hard job. you are on it and I like that👍✌️🤘
Bruhhh be waiting for your videos for so long 😭. Was watching you before I got my class a and now I’m 10 months experience local driving. Thank you for the motivation 🙏🏿
Mannn I was concerned a bit when u stopped making vids. Glad to see u back. I passed my cdl last month and I’m currently with Swift I’m getting my one year then I’m out of there lol. Stay safe out there brotha🤘
I started truck in the beginning of summer. I work in Bulk Commodities I run powder, cement, limestone, sand etc. it’s local, I work just under 60 hours a week and make about $1,200 a week. It’s a lot of work though. I want to do it for a year, then get into hauling fuel
Dude next time you're gonna take a break let us know you're ok, was worried with all the rumors. I started trucking because of your videos now I'm 3 weeks in as solo otr driver, u should be proud! Oh and pls dont be making fun of my company for being governed at 62! 😂😂😂
haha yea I should have done a quick update or something or a post lol sorry! and nice! congratulations I hope everything is going well and you liking it (: ! and hey! at least Prime has beautiful trucks😇😂💪
@@dandys. yeah I'm glad he's back... We manifested him with our thoughts, I only knew of the rumor about a month and a half ago and 2 weeks ago I was thinking about if he just stopped posting and voila last week he replied to a comment and I was relieved
Chez it's good to see you back posting brother. Never thought you were dead I thought you were getting your pilot license and flying planes (LOL).ANYWAY STAY SAFE and God Bless. PEACE ✌...
My Brother Has The Same Thoughts As You!! He Misses His Family And Wants To Be Home More!! I Myself Am Single! Dont Want Kids Or That "American Dream" Life!! I Want To Stack Paper And Take Solo Trips Around The World And Call It A Life Whenever That May Be!! God Speed ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I did otr for 6 months and then switched to semi local cause the pay was a lot better and you’re right about the burnt out part! OTR was killing me cause I was staying out for 4-5 weeks at a time! I do miss it though but being home every other day is good for my health
I took the leap of faith and left the office job for trucking. Been doing this for almost 3 years now and was the best decision I've made. Did 1 year of otr and job a better paying job doing local/regional and im home almost every night. Getting otr pay for local work
you inspired me to get my license, im local and it's not easy but it is way better than OTR, weekends off, home every night, sleeping in your own bed and not having to keep an eye open while you sleep, make the switch brother you won't regret it
thats the move next year😍 I need to catch up with all the stuff I missed while I was in otr, I definitely miss having my life back home haha thanks for your comment brotha🙏
Keep an eye open while you sleep? I've been out here OTR for years I sleep like a baby. Don't compare local with OTR. It's a choice of life style. I've tried local and didn't like it. Always home late at night back at same routine next day to put up with city traffic.
Trucking what makes me keep my sanity...alone on the road, not thinkin all the shit happen in the world, and trucking make me feel better after my mom died...i will keep on truckin, until my body no longer able to drive
Judging by your personality only, you sound like you would make a great engineer.. you are an inquisitive thinker and very thoughtful. Something you should consider. Time passes faster then you can even understand. Do something that will give you a wonderful life in the ladder part of your life.. take care..!!
You’ve done really well got subscribers really quick in short time you can keep trucking local PRIME maybe but keep RU-vid going you can be at 500,000 or 1 million in 2-3 years and live off that, aren’t you monetized now? You’re an excellent story teller man I can’t say enough…you absolutely dodged a bullet by not going to college and being in debt like you said…I want to be diesel mechanic which is sane engines the US NAVY uses in their ships, I tried Navy they didn’t take me
yes I am monetize now thank you for kind words !😇 and yea I’ll see where the wind takes me from here, I’m really looking to do local trucking maybe I’ll try different area’s thinking of hauling fuel or something different from just a dry van. Wow! I wish you good luck my friend i hope you end up in a career where you really enjoy doing💯
I knew you was done that one video you was talking about local trucking but I'm glad it only took you two years to figure it out cuz here I am 7 years later and I realized trucking isn't for me
My uncle worked otr, got tired, than he moved to deliver for a milk company in his city, he does 36 hours, 3 days and gets paid 40 hours, he loves it, sleeps with the wife every night.
Try regional. I had dedicated routes for target running from Fontana Target distribution to all over LA and it sucked with all the traffic. Now I do regional Walmart and I stay in south west US. Home time is 2 days a week tho.
Sup chez, good to see from you again bro. I’m officially a Swiftie mang. Been solo for a week and run all over south Florida , especially the Miami metro area- and then hurricane Ian wiped out my city Ft Myers/Cape Coral area, been struggling with loads because my DC is half destroyed. Struggling right now brah. No AC No electricity, No showers for almost a whole week mang. A little worried about my future because of this hurricane. Wish we still used AIM/ MSN messenger because, have a few questions to ask. Asian Trucker Association brotha!!
oh man!! I’m so sorry to hear that !! I heard everything on the news and it’s terrifying! prayers to all the people out there including you sir stay positive again I’m sorry that hurricane happened in your area I cannot imagine how hard it is over there right now😔
Check out USPS they hire tractor trailer drivers at there processing centers starting pay above average , union and benefits and you went by my house on 95 next to the piscataqua river Bridge. Good to see you back
Oh finally you’re back bro 😀when I see your first video I was thinking about truc driver I went school and took 2 times test I got my license you’re back 😂😂🙏🏼
RU-vid is about sharing what your passionate about some people will grow with it others won’t but it really doesn’t matter🤷🏽♀️I drive locally for crst almost a year now and I’m looking to go a little OTR really just dedicated from Cali to AZ or Texas. Local can pay wayyy more than OTR in Cali it just requires more experience than what I have😅
Wow, great to see another video from you chez. Stay safe and positive out there, anything in life is up to you my man, no matter if you stop making videos or not I just want you to be good. This life is a bitch for us all
Damn been a long time since I've seen one of your videos popup. So my son got his CDL and started team driving with a friend of his, he was about to quit and walk away from trucking his second week out on the road due to his trainer not stopping for showers or to eat a real meal they were supposed to come home than the trainer took a load going to Tennessee the opposite way from AZ lol he was about to call his person who handles his stuff at Werner to tell them he was getting a plane ticket to go home but he just sucked it up and got home. Hope all is well brother
Chez I hope u conquer this stage and we know the reason why u haven’t been pumping vids but if u stop and do local things could go right but chez be safe out there. And as local u deal with more traffic Jams especially In la u Make good money but it’s for a cost and u deal with reefer trailers
Hey Chez look into being a feeder driver at UPS, I know you said you don’t really like trucking but look up the current UPS union contract benefits, that might just make up for it, things like free healthcare and a good pension, and the contract is being renegotiated in 2023 so it’ll only be stronger by the time you join up.
@@chez8239 I also don’t wanna just give you all the good stuff about it either though. Since it’s a union job you’ll have to deal with all the seniority BS as a new guy from the outside, definitely do your research to see if you wanna deal with all that, the UPS and UPSers subrebbits all have good info. But if you’re able to get in and and stay and hit seniority then it’s probably one of the best and also easiest driving jobs out there.
@@qutuveo6332 I’ll definitely look into this thank you so much, and I feel like thats any industry you know, start from the bottom and work your self up, are you currently doing that yourself ?
@@chez8239 I’m saving up and studying to get my CDL still, in the meantime I’ve been doing lots of research of all the different paths I can take. I’ll probably start off local even if it means I have to work the docks/warehouse first at UPS or some LTL companies like FedEx Freight, Old Dominion, etc and maybe foodservice/soda. UPS would be the best though, $40 an hour once you’re topped out in 4 years I believe for drop and hooking all day, gonna have to sacrifice and work hard first to make it there though
@@chez8239 hey man I passed and I’m out with my mentor it’s my second night out on the road it’s going good but I’m already ready to go solo man I hope this month flys by.
@@LGITxSCORPION man I know exactly what you are feeling right now 😅 one month will pass by so fast you wont even notice and you will be solo anytime soon !!
Simple economics: If 90 % of the nation drove electric cars demand for petroleum based fuels would drop not rise. If demand is down the price of the product goes down. Limited supply is the only way fuel would rise in your scenario due to government regulation. Personally I don’t see electric cars taking over unless they can solve the charging issues coupled with some states having rolling blackouts and restricts on power usage. Just my 2 cents. Good video btw.
yes I totally agree with you, but I dont think we are ready to go all electric we could barely even handle the ev vehicle’s that we have today just imagine if all cars switch to ev we just wont be able to support it lol and not only that they also pricing ev vehicles so high to the point not a lot of people can afford to switch but yes supply and demand is truly causing the fuel prices to go up and off course with all the stuff going around the world. tough times thats forsure thanks for watching and for your comment !!🙏💯
