I haven't watched this show but is the "joke" in episode 4 literally that brain cancer makes him hump random things? I mean seriously I have now idea how it was set up in the show but I couldn't even imagine WKUK or South Park doing a joke like that; I guess because it's just absolutely tasteless.
I love this. Someone tearing a story that has everything into everything I dislike in stories. Unnecessary sex and violence, subversions of heroes, teen drama. I love to hate it.
I swear more and more modern writing staffs are being filled with 20 year old women who's only real experience in life is teen-like gossip with other women and dating problems they refuse to take ANY part of accountably in. That or 30-40 year old bitter, childless, lonely women having a therapy/venting session.
Not to mention the actors probably actually talk in the same manner. Pretty sure that actors of the calibers of Anthony Starr and Karl urban would have some suggestions if dialogue is poor or simply doesn't fit the character. 20 something nobodies are acting out 20 somebody nobody characters who were written by 20 year old nobodies. It's just one big circle jerk .
lol still here, telling that it did. Reaper blatantly ommits alot of info here in regards to why things were shown in such a way. I agree that one pronoun scene was definately woke but everything else was far from it.

This show is literally the South Park parody universe where everyone is replaced by a diverse woman complaining about the patriarchy, just without any sense of humor.
It looks to me like they thought the only thing they needed to do to write something based upon a Garth Ennis property is throw in a lot of bad taste (exploding dicks, menstrual powers, etc). Garth also has very human characters, and plots. And Garth respects both men and women, puts them into actual relationships, and vive la difference.
It’s honestly so frustrating watching the show and fandom evolve through the seasons and seeing all that’s picked up about Ennis is his superhero cynicism and use of dark/shock humor. Would I call his comics a masterpiece? No, but you can’t deny how he knows how to weave heart and humanity into a story, regardless of the subject and peripheral elements. It’s like with splatterpunk, it takes skill to mix the characteristics of the genre with actual storytelling. No one brings up how gut-wrenching M.M’s origin story is, witnessing firsthand how cross-contamination can randomly kill loved ones; no one brings up Butcher’s transformation thru his relationship with Becca and how he had to “kill her ghost” to rid himself of any empathy he gained from being with her in order to do his job; or how Kimiko coped with becoming a Supe due to her mother’s negligence thanks to Frenchie, her best friend and father figure who did everything he could to deter her from submitting into the bloodthirst that was branded in her after years of experimentation and tried to grant her moments of just being a girl rather than a hired killer and monster. Nope, apparently the core of the story amounts to gore, sexual fetishes, and left-leaning politics. Not to totally discredit the show either, I enjoyed some of the changes, but for all the “comics are pure trash” comments, I can also see how the show would’ve been stronger keeping some of the source’s tone and story beats.

Wait, this character can control other peoples blood while it's still inside their body?! Then why does she cut herself/use her own blood to use her power? If she's up against any organic creature outside of a plant she can just literally exploded them. She can cause heart attacks, brain trauma, and attack arteries. Hell when you think about it there is so much that can go wrong in the human body if you screw with the circulatory system in even small ways let alone in the example the show just gave. I was under the impression she could only take control of blood outside the body or her own. She's way more dangerous than any other character in the show so far. She's like the character Lucy from Lucy who got to a point she could just turn people off.

To be fair on the Tek Knight thing, they pulled the sex addiction via brain tumor thing from the source material. He's way more interesting in the comics and actually dies from the cancer pretty soon after he is introduced, but he's still a random asshole with a brain tumor that makes him want to fuck everything with a hole.
This and your previous review made me so glad that I dropped this show halfway through the first episode. I don't know how you have the stomach to make it halfway through the first season.
9:40 i was wondering why the dean was afraid of tek knight, if she had a joker card (the vid) against him of that magnitude. All she had to do is mention that in their first conversation and he'd be harmless. Looks like they invented W guy to be bad and then lose to B woman. Classic.

I saw those days and days of trial and it was horrible how absolutely clear it was, who was the victim and who was the abuser and still... ...of course, those writers obviously didn't watch the whole trial... more or less verbetum an audio recording in the trial: Johnny: "I don't want to talk about this again, because you will hit me again." Yeah, it is NOT a fun show. Between the casual racism toward Whites and the sexism toward males (a straight one is nearly impossible to find in the mess), it's just a hatefest. What ALWAYS gets me with the current "suprehero" shows, which gave "The Boys" a pass for, because of the corporatism selling the idea, is that being a "hero" is somehow a career path. Hero is something assigned TO a person based upon an action deemed heroic. You could choose to be a firefighter, for example, but until you DO something heroic in that job, you are not a hero. You are a firefighter. Rant over.
I've been watching this show and I'm convinced the writer of this show needs to be vetted because its one of the horniest shows ever, its so shallow it thinks a violet scene and a sex scene for the sake of it will make it compelling and edgy definitely could've been a 3 episode special with the amount of actual story in this season

Also Emma's powers don't make sense to me. Every supers powers have pretty much a grounded basis in reality. The only things I can think of that don't are Home Lander's eye beams. Flight can be explained, super speed, mental powers, even shapeshifting. These explanations are pushed to an extreme but you can make them make enough sense for suspension of disbelief. Emma's powers are more egregious because the act of eating and vomiting up food makes no sense at all with growing and shrinking in they way the show presents it. What would make more sense is if Emma has to eat a lot because her body is doing hyper cell division and construction at almost instantaneous speed and when she throws up/shrinks it's her body evacuating what it doesn't need. If that also makes more sense to everyone else that took me like 2 to 4 minutes of thought.
Tek knight had the same issue of fucking whatever has a hole in comics as well. That is accurate. He also should be using a high-tech suit since in comics he is a real Iron Man knockoff.
This show reminds me of Mad men. BLOATED with dumb stories lines that could’ve and should’ve been removed.. also how are they allowed to show 🍆 without getting an X rating
In the future people are going to look back on shows like this as a strange artifact of the unbelievable time when people insisted on being called pronouns other than the ones that actually belonged to them. People will be astounded that this actually happened. And they will ask themselves how and why this was able to occur, and they will wonder what was wrong with the people who lived during this time.
The one problem I have with Tek Knight is what you pointed out. He should have killed her and framed her. It reminds me of Stan Edgar talking down to Homelander without someone in the room who might even stand a chance of slowing him down if he decided to kill him.
Why for the love of God would Vought try to put the blood bending girl as the replacement for Golden Boy? Hemokinesis, while potentially an interesting power, is not the sort of thing that sells toys and movie deals. If the he/she man thing isn't going to go over well with middle america, why would a girl who literally shoots period blood like a blunderbuss sell merch? Tbf, black magneto is the only one in the cast who has any safe marketability from VIs perspective. No wonder his dad was pissed.

This show is so bad and yet I met so many people who told me they liked it. I don't understand why. Yet when asked for details about the story, the characters or the plot in general, they often don't even remember them. It seems incredible to me that many people liked this show just because it was a spin off of The Boys and not because they actually watched it carefully
