Thank you for taking us along with you and spending the time to make these videos for us!!! All your videos are the greatest!!! Thank you again for all your hard work!!!! Greatly appreciated!!!🙂👍
Thank you so much Philip it really motivates me You're awesome words Of encouragement it really helps me make more videos thanks for being part of the channel captain👍🛥⚓️😉
It'll be a little hard to do, but try running the boat back up current from where you were drifting..... Sometimes you can retrieve a hung weight that way..... Also consider purchasing a mold and making your own weights....."if you like this video, please give it a thumbs up". Smiling... What's not to love! Cheers my friend.... looking forward to the next one. Thanks!!
I live in the Northeast of Brazil, in the State of Paraíba, in the municipality of Conde, I am a follower on the youtube channel, here there are many fishermen, but the boats are very weak and do not have many navigation instruments, your boat is a luxury
I am impressed with the amount of electronic instruments that your boat has, it has complete autonomy, I really like fishing, and with this equipment it is easier to find the fish, congratulations on the beautiful boat
Thank you for working so hard to bring us these videos, I feel like I’m with you on your trips. During this time of isolation for most of the country, it means a lot that you take time out of your own life to bring us along. Thanks for the trip Captain, and please stay safe!
thank you so much , and yes they take time but i know the country and the world needs something to take off their minds, and all i can do to help is giving you my viewers is my time. your comment realy motivates, thank you Tony
You should get the mold for those heavy weights and melt/cast your own. You can usually get lead for free from a local tire shop who usually has buckets full and always willing to part with it. Great for making sinkers and Ammo,,👍
thank you captain and yes with some time we all will go back to are normal lifes but for sure will no be the same at first. and please take good care , your captain Out On The Reef
Hey captain great video. Just Some advice about bottom fishing. Up to 200 feet bottom a 12oz sinker is more then enough, sometimes if the current is strong you will need 20oz. Also as soon as you have a bite you should snag the rod up and start reeling or the fish will take you in to the rocks. Thanks for the videos stay safe.
Nice catch Captain. You got to love it when your plans works the first time. I know you saved that lat/lon for future feasts. A couple of personal choices. I rarely use more than 2 lbs. when hand cranking. Even in 400 ft. I always start shallow and head deeper. No reason to work harder if the fish are in shallow. I use cut pieces of steel rebar wrapped in duct tape for cheap weights. Or a couple of 16oz. Egg sinkers. Troll spoons on your way out for a Cuda or Bonito for bait. I keep a small bolt cutter on board just to cut off offshore hooks if you get stuck with one. Amazingly it has been used twice already. Luckily not for me. Keep safe. Thanks for the videos. Captntim.
Thank you so much time for the great advice and yes having a pair of good cutters is very important just in case I get snug by hook and yes the steel rod is a great idea to save money on the gear, but here in the Bahamas the current is so fast that if you use a 2 lb wait will not reach bottom it will drag on the ocean current 4 lb is a lot faster and I know it's very tiring but it gets the job done fast
@@OutOnTheReef yea those currents can be brutal. Where I go up be Great Issac or off West End the current is not usually that bad. I looks like you have it figured out.
Nice job 👍. Those groupers run for those holes when the get the hook. If you keep the weight off the bottom a few feet it gives you a chance to bring them up before getting in the hidey hole. 😁
Another beautiful day in the Bahamas. Been there many times on cruises. Those days may be over. If i wasnt in south carolina i would be there every time i could put my boat in the water. Stay safe and God bless you and your family captain !!
Went deep dropping in Oregon on a guided trip, we used only 2 oz weight with two hooks in 150-180 feet of water. Let the rig drop to bottom then lock reel and then give random yanks of the rod and let drop again.
@@OutOnTheReef we trying. im working with the fire dept. and my wife is a night nurse at the ER. everyday more people testing positive. hoping this city wide shutdown will slow it down. RU-vid and fishing videos Keeping me distracted.
Amazing trip, congrats on a great day out on the water. You can make a cleaning station out of starboard with front lip {like a box} so you don't mess up your boat.Cut slots for knives, pliers {left or right handed} and a sticker on the back to measure your fish.Drains in the back so the mess goes into the ocean. You can make it 3" inch's tall, potable so it fits over gunnel's with folding legs so it stores easily behind cooler. Good luck
Another excellent video young man, I don't know how you can do so much from such a small vessel. I am very impressed with your commitment to safety and your cooking ability, I will be waiting for your next video.
Thank you so much richer for your great comment I have put a lot of thought into this boat ergonomics and thank you so much for watching my channel captain
Yep! Your going to need a Bigger Cooler or a second one to hold all those BIG Fish! Also they make a nice cutting board that mounts in a rod holder, Would be a nice addition. Thanks for shaning!
Thank you Captain Rick and I am really concerned about a cutting board because I use a lot of water and if it splashes on the boat all those guts are very hard to house the waiting clean later that's why I've been doing the cleaning on the deck easier to hold down do you have any other suggestion than a cutting board
@@OutOnTheReef Well if that's the case then the way you are doing it is best. Plus the way you are doing it, no chance of losing the fish. I have seen guys using a cutting board over the side of the boat and a wake or wave go by and the fish slid off and back in the water! Bye Bye Fishy! LOL!
I think a weight that big is overkill. You don't need that much if your just drifting. More weight if your trolling. Maybe 1 or 2 lb weights at most. Nice fish and you sure looked happy holding it in front of the camera. Enjoy your feast.
Nice Captain. I'd replace that backrest with a cutting/cleaning station over the live well. Elevate it so you're not bent over and plumb it for easy cleaning. I've got a fiberglass chopper gun system in my shop for larger glass projects. Mig welder, tig,, and stick. Ft. Myers area if you're close.
You're awesome Captain thank you for offering that means a lot to me I have something that I've been thinking about for a long time but not got to it yet but soon I will thank you so much
As always an excellent video Capt!! Been watching you since the beginning and you videos bring me home cause we're living far from FL these days. We have been waiting a long time to see you do some real deep drop fishing, always knew it'd pay you off handsomly. Also, you can get by with a much less expensive 8oz weight fine. It needs some tending to to keep it off the bottom a few feet, but for a first timer you did excellent. Try a small live yellow tail for bait, strictly a one bait rig and reel like a crazy person when a fish shops your Publix. Stay safe Capt., and thank you very much for the amazing videos brother!! We'll be seeing ya out there once we can move back to So Flo. -Thank you 'Out On The Reef' !!!
Nice fishing captain, you were deep dropping very close to where we dive when we go over to Bimini, it’s called the south cat wall and we hit it every time we go over👍👍👍, we’re hopping this virus outbreak doesn’t last to much longer because we are scheduled to head over to Bimini first week in June👌
I would also consider making a solid lid out of PVC board behind the Livewell seat just in front of the engine that you can remove easily, That will free up your cockpit area. I'm currently in the process of designing and building a skiff boat. As I have built boats almost half of my life.
Woah a very nice Mutton and Rockhind on the same drop congrats Capt, if you are going to do alot of deep dropping you can make your own lead weights for a fraction of the cost.
Greeting 5:58 am Jakarta time..walking dead City ...weekend looks so empty...Saw u catch big fish is awesome capt....I saw azimuth, tall ship , Pursuit and big boys toys at Honeymoon .hahahhahha they quarantine at ocean too
Awesome mutton snapper. Like others have said make sure rod is oriented right cause it could snap. I think a rod holder bait/filet table would work for you. Stay safe.
Great snapper catch!I knew you could do it!The clicker should be turned off on the retrieve or you can wear it out.Great video!I am glad things are working out.
Thank you for letting me know that Captain I did not know that so I'll put the clicker on when I throw it down when I pick it up I'll shut the clicker is that how it is?
Out On The Reef Yes Using the clicker on the way down will let you know when you have reached the bottom it will stop.On the retrieve you want it off so you have a drag you can adjust if you need to without the extra strain on the reel.
Glad to see you trying new techniques. I have some deep drop info that may be of help to you. The reason you didn’t hit bottom was because of the speed of the current where you were. To combat this you must use braid. Ideally 40-65 lb braid will work. You also must keep the boat in gear sometimes to move with your bait or it is lifted far from the bottom. Instead of doing this you can put the rod in complete free spool with no clicker, but that way may get you some tangles. Tight lines and good luck
My brother Saul from Jacksonville. My family and I love your videos. Sometimes we sit and enjoy the way you prepare your delicious foods., especially your lobsters. We’re can we send you a gift for your boat to cut the lobsters from the DeJesus family??
thank you so much captain that a awesome offer ,bu the reason i haven purchased one is because im very picky wen it comes ware to install one, thank you so much you and your family, and please say hello to them.
Out On The Reef thank you so much for all your videos. I wanted to send you a nice scissors for cutco. They have a lifetime warranty. Should be great for cutting lobsters. Let me know if we could just help you. Thanks again
hey buddy I don't know if you remember me. it's been a few years since I last spoke with you on here. I'm happy to see that you are still making videos. If I ever hit it big after this economy picks back up i swear I'm ganna buy you another big boat so you can take your platform to an even higher level haha! keep doing your thing brother! p.s. I love your new boat!
i think i do cap. welcome aboard you have alot to catch up, and yes i will love for you to be successful and if you can donate a bigger boat i will youtube you and i will take you to the Bahamas for a trip, lol
I'm always thinking about the cutting table but I'm thinking about the water splashing in the guts blushing and hitting the boat that makes more of a mess I believe what do you think
Hi OOTR, I need to stay home to try and catch your videos earlier... there all already 3,156 views and I'm just now getting home!; I was fishing the Pamlico Sound most of the day... NICE FISH!
@@OutOnTheReef We had a great day in the Pamlico Sound and my wife was with me; But, no fish! I took a couple videos I might post. It was a beautiful day!
Oh capt when you put on big weight add about 4 to 6 feet of leader 20 lb test below hooks and rig that way you can play with your hooks and rig without the weight hitting side of boat it should be below side of boat jat
hi captain very nice catch , i would recommend 2 hooks max when deep fishing for that kind of size fish. and please try not to stand up when the water are choppy you may fall and get tangled with those hooks . i had an incident where my brother slipped and got 3 hooks in his foot and bottom . also would like you to try hayabusa jigging sabiki they are very effective .be safe and keep it safe.
Question Cap Does the auto pilot connect to your Garmin Navigation and radar? So if you put a marker on the navigation the auto pilot just navigates to that spot and if the radar senses a object that you can hit will auto correct to avoid and continue to destination?
The reader does not have any contact with the autopilot only the chartplotter and the autopilot communicate the Raider has no communication with autopilot
Captain you caught a big big fish my wife was like oh wow she would love to eat some of that big nice juicy fish also please be safe and careful out there on the water ONE LOVE captain
Out on the reef, nice vid Capt big O mutton snapper wow. Capt would you please remove the click from the reel it made a awful noise while you reeling. Thanks and navigate safe.👍🙏🇨🇺
And all reef dwelling fish are legal to take back as fillets to Florida. Only pelagics must be kept whole. However, two fillets counts as one fish so you can’t cut the fillets up
Made sure I cracked a corona light before the video capt, great catch this time I new it would be, I’d like to see you do some fish tacos sometime! Thanks again for the awesome videos, almost feels like we’re there with you! Stay safe capt
I have the same 21’ Parker like you do, not sure if it’s crooked or not?lol😂 It’s 2003.. Working on getting it ready for the crossing... Never made they voyage before to the Bahamas. I live in Boynton Beach! Maybe if you wouldn’t mind ? I could follow you over?? I have been fishing for many years and can show you some fishing tricks!! Awesome video’s been a fan for awhile! 👍🏻
Thank you Captain really appreciate your comment and please make sure that Parker boat is not crooked measurable size but anyways too late for the warranty just like me I decided to keep my crooked Pilothouse
Out On The Reef I have had my boat for 9 years.. I have owned several other boats but have to say this is my favorite one!! Probably going to get buried in it.. lol.. Jusy repowered it with a Yamaha 300! She fly’s!! Loading it up with safety equipment to make the voyage
@@OutOnTheReef The water was so clear, I couldn't tell. If I had used sea water in my neck of the woods, you would clearly notice the darker color. Love your video's, keep them coming. Stay safe.
And if you really love your boat and plan to keep it for life consider getting an engine bracket and an additional engine, trust me you don't want to be stuck in the islands or at sea with one engine.
I think a filet table right above the live well mounted in the two spots where the backrest goes.. also nice mutton snapper you're going to need a bigger cooler lol
I was thinking the same thing. He could even leave the backrest there and build a table that swings up from underneath the pad to put it away when he's done. Looks like it would swing out to about the right height. Build folding legs that sit on top of the livewell when folded out and walla. Add a few cup holders, rod holders, rope lights, and paint some flames on the sides and he's set.
@@OutOnTheReef On that idea, just secure the cooler to the backrest poles. Then get some pvc board (homedepot) and use real small stainless screws to the top of cooler. Make a small trim around the back with some small holes for drainage. This will serve to 1) balance the boat with the cooler in the middle 2)open up space to access the port side of the boat 3) elevate the cooler so you don't have to be on the floor. you can wash all the fish parts to the transom area and not your floor/bilge. It'll also help your back. make sure to put some soft cushions underneath the cooler and strap that puppy down.
I usually only use big weights when the current is strong or if it's very deep. I don't think you needed that big of a weight, they're easy to get stuck on a rock. Nice catch though, that was a pretty good fish.
Admire what you do and its entertaining. Been fishing for 40 years and if I comments its just to make things a little easier. First, turn you rod around when fishing with that type of reel. Second, you do not need to be cutting off your weight every time. Crimp a large snap swivel so you can switch weights as needed.
