The rest of the story: Now when the topic of the father daughter dance came up she started making excuses about how she didn’t know if we were gonna make it so her “stepdad” offered and well she doesn’t want to hurt his feelings. Husband feels like that right is solely his as he raised them all his life and honestly WE are the only ones who have always been there for her. I kinda do feel like the dance is solely a hers with my husband but it’s a situation where as the step parent I will always be 2nd plate. I supported hubby and did not attend. Am I wrong?

A dance isn't a right. I'm so sick of men thinking because they did what was legally required of them, they can make demands of their daughters. Grow up. You doing the legally required things is legally required of you. It's nothing special and doesn't earn you a damn thing

The clue to what kind of people these are was that they made her change her whole wedding date cuz I guess her getting married wasn't an important enough reason to miss work. She wasn't sure they were even going to show so she made other plans. (And sure enough, they didn't show - so good thing she wasn't counting on her father).

Yeah, there was a story about a father being hurt by similar and asking reddit if he should attend. The mother left when she was 8 and returned with a husband at 15 into her life. Daughter and him talked it out and was being threatened that mother and stepfather would not attend if she didnt let stepdad walk her down the aisle. She was worried that she would lose her connection with her mom, but ultimately told her to shove it and her dad attended and walked her down. Mom and didnt show to wedding, i think

it's quite interesting about the father daughter dance. are you willing to nuke you whole relationship over a dance. Was there no compromise, such as sharing the dance [maybe bio dad first then step dad second] or another compromise like one walks her down the aisle and one does the first dance. nta being upset but she's allowed to choose who she wants. the consequences of that is you both not attending and the consequence on not attending may be losing you daughter. So it's whatever. no one's an asshole. you aren't entitled to father daughter dance. and fyi Many adults can contribute to your child's happiness and be integral in their life. He lies are not helpful. if she prefers her stepfather she should just say that.

"Mamy adults can contribute to child's happiness" and "daughter didn't want to hurt stepfather's feelings " lol 😂😂😂 Someone knew this story and wrote that bio mother and stepfather bought this "good daughter" with a car and 2y of living without paying when she'll go to college. What a kind daughter that sold her biological father for that much (and tried to feed him with bs).
@crystalross7943
@crystalross7943 3 месяца назад
The daughter changed the wedding date for the parents who couldn't even go to the courthouse wedding. As soon as the rest of the family pays to upgrade the wedding for the new date. Now the dad wants the privilege of the daddy and daughter dance. Sir, you wouldn't take a day off for the wedding. Her marriage ceremony must not have been that important to him. But now that the relatives are there, it's a show. On the daughter's side, the father showed how little he actually cared for her special day and the step father stepped up (pun was not intended, sorry) with a promise to be there. They probably are practicing the dance while they're planning the wedding. And the father and step mother are still not going to the wedding even after the date was changed for them. This makes the stepdad look more reliable when he attends thr wedding and does the dance. The poster and her husband are assholes trying to make the wedding about themselves.
@tosutaa
@tosutaa 3 месяца назад
Are you illiterate? It's not that they "wouldnt" take a day off it's that they couldn't on such short notice. Spoiler alert for the real world since apparently you don't know how it works but your job isn't going to allow you to just take off a few days with 2 weeks notice, as they said they would've needed to ask off a month or two in advance. Did you also somehow miss the part of the story where it was explained the father raised her with sole custody her entire life while her mom didn't start talking to her until she was older? It's a pretty big slap in the face to spend your life raising someone just for her to choose a step-dad she wouldve rarely seen if at all
@xuyahfish
@xuyahfish 3 месяца назад
If they are in the Medical Field, it's IMPOSSIBLE to get a day off with 2 weeks notice. Time off requires months planning. Also, what is a couple months compared to 18 years of meals, trips, sports/music lessons, etc etc 365 days a year.
@crystalross7943
@crystalross7943 3 месяца назад
@@tosutaa I have worked for multiple job and haven't had trouble getting a day off due to an emergency. They had two weeks. The problem is that they were in different states. This is an audio retelling of a reddit post, how would I be illiterate if I'm not reading but listening. And at worst they could have taken a sick day with 'food poisoning' or the 'flu'. It's a job not slavery. Two weeks notice was long enough to find someone to cover their shift.
@crystalross7943
@crystalross7943 3 месяца назад
@@xuyahfish Their job wasn't mentioned. The problem was they were out of state. And even so, the daughter did move the wedding for their sake.
