How to remove steel winch cable and install synthetic rope? Depending on the type of winch drum you have it fairly easy. You just got to make sure your rope is tight when you are done!

BTW, I got my winch from Quadratic. I will admit that I have had issues. I also ran it hard and never got stuck because of the winch. They have been wonderful for taking care of the issues. They even gave me a new winch because of the issues. Their service is out of this world. I paid full price and never advertised their product before now and never got paid by them.

I've always heard great things about Quadratics customer service. I would have no issues paying full price for any of their products because of the great service they offer. I don't, at this time, get paid any type of money from any of the sponsors. Yes, I occasionally get freebie stuff to make videos with. I've had that winch and rope for a few years now and haven't featured it as the star of any video. The company parted ways with me for not promoting the junk (my opinion) they wanted me to push to my viewers. I recently got around to setting things up (I work waaayy too much at my real job). I'm not really promoting the brand, that winch, or that rope per se. I'm just doing "how-to's" with what I have to work with. I don't have the money the big RU-vidrs have, my channel is still way too small. But, being that I got the winch and rope as a "sponsor" product, I (and every social media influencer) are required to be open about getting products like that. I always have been and always will be open about that. Also .. if its junk ... I'll call a spade a spade, I have lost sponsor deals because I will not lie to my Power Addicts Crew. Sorry about the long response. I get carried away sometimes 😀 Thanks for being part of the channel and have a great day!!!

While I like the video, I am not sold on the synthetic rope. The rope has issues with dirt and rubbing rocks. Not to mention the cost. This is not to say that the rope doesn't have advantages. If it breaks on the trail, you can tie it together. Also it takes up less room. BTW, my steel cable is 100 feet.

I do 100% agree with you on the dirt and rock abrasion issues. I have an "abrasion sleeve" from Warn that helps with rubbing the rocks as long as it stays in place (which can be an issue in itself). I will not baby it so dirt will become an issue eventually. Steel cable just doesn't care ... drag it on rock .. dirt ... trees .. it keeps going. You just better wear gloves in case those little wires are sticking out because that mess will stab ya!! I'm sure you know that. Rope is much more safe in the event it snaps under pressure and yep you can tie it back together or weave a new loop. I do carry a shipping blanket and a "gear bag" that doubles as a winch line dampener. They both have their pros and cons. I'm rebuilding a Warn 8274, I haven't yet made up my mind what I'm putting on it. Thanks for dropping in a helps people know the pros and cons between the two. Heck .. I should make a video about that. Glad you enjoy the content! Have a great day ✌

@@Poweraddicts The abrasion sleeve may help in some situations. I have dealt with a lot of mud. Unless your abrasion sleeve covers the whole thing, it is useless.

@@Poweraddicts Sorry, going back and forth with your comment. My bad here. I have never worn gloves. I also never let the cable slip through my hands. Tight grip gives a better wind. As far as which is safer, I don't know. I have seen more ropes break than cables with winches. Percentage wise, that makes ropes more dangerous. BTW, I have never seen a cable break on a winch on YT. I have seen ropes break. Of course maintaining your equipment is very important. I ask you, how many tow trucks use blankets? The tow point is far more likely to break than the cable. Tow point is the largest killer. Most of the time, the killer is a hard yank and tow point breaks. Not a winch cable with a slow pull. Watch myth busters.

Might be time to get a new battery with that much Vdroop.

Battery is a little over a year old. But, it is just a standard run of the mill "got it at walmart" battery. I'm seriously thinking about setting up for a dual battery system. The rig has a 130 amp Durango alternator installed.

I see the ball mount for your phone holder (8:11 in vid) but no phone holder. Did that amazon phone holder that you did a vid of not hold up?

Oh yea, it still works fine. I just moved it to the accessory bar at the top of the windshield.

My 95 yj has the middle sliders cable on the heater box broke off the box. They are held on stock metal gromits thru the plastic box. The gromits are still in the box where the cable attaches but the cable is hanging down. How would you fix this? I think 2 self tapping screws thru the gromit holes will not hold up long term. What would be a better fix?
