I think there is a little bit from column a, a little bit from column b: trading in guitars makes my brain itch, I just can't do it. Then again you got the perfect guitar for you, so it's better than having 5 guitars that only occasionally get played for something you'll get loads of use out of. Good for you my man 👍
First of all... Congratulations on getting a top quality instrument!!! It's probably the most valuable guitar you've owned, and in my 49 years of playing I've never regretted upgrading! If guitar is a major part of your life you deserve to have the best you can get. Every time I pick up one of my higher end instruments I appreciate it as much as day 1. I never get tired of the positive feelings I have when playing them. I can understand you feeling some urgency in the purchase with only 2 available in your whole country! So glad you appreciate the differences in quality from the Sterling. Hope you get many years of enjoyment from this very fine instrument! Cheers from Canada.
Thanks for the kind considered comment! I’m finding it very difficult to pick up the only two I didn’t trade in at the moment, the music man is that good!
This is one of my dream guitars… so BEAUTIFUL and different and killer sound! So cool man. Maybe if i buy enough cheap guitars, I can trade them to get this one😂
And if you do get to that point I can tell you that you absolutely will not regret trading in those guitars 😂. It’s funny as I was aware of this guitar for ages but didn’t think I would actually buy one until I tried the sterling version. I picked up my telecaster today and it just doesn’t compare, it does a thing of course but the Mariposa is just next level.
I think the worst trade ins here were the Mark Ryden Art Adam Jones, since he's a very famous artist and it'll be worth a lot of money one day, and the Jazzmaster. At 150 I would have kept it, and made a string of mod project videos to have it pay for itself and then have an awesome instrument at the end. Tom Delonge strat is an example of how bad MIM Fenders have become. Personally I love my Sterling, as much as I had the Music Man. I play predominantly heavier music so the tonal difference in pickups aren't that important to me and it otherwise feels very similar.
You are probably right on the Mark Ryden Adam Jones, unfortunately though Music Man guitars (at least the Mariposa anyway) are pretty hard to get hold of in the UK so I just had to do it while there was one available. While you make a good point on the Squier, it also assumes my channel is monetised, unfortunately I’m not quite there yet with the requirements 😁. At the end of the day, I’m happy with the decision, I absolutely love the music man, can’t put the thing down, was it £3000 better than the Sterling? Perhaps not but I found it to be significantly lighter with better fretwork and neck feel over all. The Sterling was absolutely fantastic for the money though.
@@djencode wow that’s amazing, I’d buy one just to have a second at that price 😁. Mine was £799 but we tend to pay more for Music Man/Sterling guitars in the UK anyway.
I recently tried to list down all the guitars I’ve owned in my nearly 30 years of playing, there was a lot, I think close to 40 (although the most I’ve had at once was about 8), I’ve had top end fender USA (not custom shop though) a Gibson les Paul custom and everything from entry level squiers up to that. The Mariposa is the best I’ve ever owned, of the 3 electrics I still have (the Mariposa, a 2013 American Vintage ‘65 Strat and the Jason Isbell signature tele) it’s the one I always go for, the others are heavy in comparison, don’t feel as well finished and are less fun to play and I LOVED those guitars before I had the Mariposa. It’s officially ruined me for other guitars.
Hello Jason , nice video,,,,,thinking of doing the same. I have 5 guitars to go towards a possible deal or I could buy a sterling . My wife says I'll miss the different guitars I already have and I'm a tad nervous what they can offer for them . Hmmmm , decisions.………1 for all or 6?
Yeah definitely take your time and make sure it’s not an impulse thing, if I’d had the money I’d have kept hold of at least two of the ones I let go but ultimately I love the Mariposa so much that I’m ok with the decision. The sterling is a solid guitar though if you do choose to go that route, I’d just say try and get to a shop and make sure it’s a good one, I’ve heard very mixed things about sterling, the one I had was great but much like all mass produced cheaper guitars, you can get a lemon.
@@JasonWharton82 Yes Jason i’ll have a think.……. Found one (MM Mariposa) reduced in a sale £2899 from £3700,,,would still be the most I've spent. Thing is I have a Gibson SG 2001 Pete Townsend special -23 years old.…..my dream guitar would have to be part of the deal . Can find a sterling for 565-650 . Tough one , Appreciate your comment 👍🎸
