Braid outs look like that the longer our hair gets. What I've found helps is (1) doing the braids on damp hair, (2) keeping the braided sections separate, and (3) if one of the sections run out of hair, just twist the ends. I usually twist the ends anyway to help with taking them out the next day.
And also she could keep the braided hair stretched(tho that is for if you want it elongated). She wants fullness. Well the smaller the braid that can help it. The bigger will make it full but definition may not be as strong.
I must need new glasses, I think it looks nice! That result would make me totally happy. I just hope you don't get grease on your shirt because it's hanging so well.
fullness is directly correlated with moisture balance. The more moisture and sealant you used when setting the hair in a stretched style, the heavier, limper, flatter the style will look. Heavy moisture is great for protective styles. Either go lighter on the heavy products, or find lighter products that help retain moisture without the weight.
I love when I see braid outs on other people. I think it had amazing definition, but totally feel you with volume. I love natural 4c big hair. You look amazing in whatever you do! I’m still working on length and don’t do much, but keep it washed, deep conditioned, and in a protective style. Someday I hope to get to that point. Thanks for sharing!
I think it looks so beautiful! I feel u on the fact that it stays so flat lol. I live in a very humid country and my hair will puff at the end of the day haha! I like to do braid outs on blowdried hair and then I’ll add just a lilttle bit of water. I think Jostylin has a nice tutorial on this method from way back
Love your contagious energy!! I do my braid outs after stretching my hair for a day so it's almost dry hair. They tend to give me more volume when I do it that way and I still have definition.
Use less grease to avoid the greasy feels. Section apply leave-in, styling product, then seal with the grease then separate hair to do individual twists. Remember a little goes a long way.
I used to get big fluffy braid outs by using bigger braids and taking them down before they dried completely. There’s a sweet spot right before they dry completely that gives you definition and volume without the limp straight look.
I understand that you like your hair with more fullness, but I thought your braid out looked nice! Your hair is long and dense so it always looks good to me. You looked really cute with the ponytail you put it in too 👍🏽 I’m sorry I can’t offer any help, my hair is more sparse and I have three different textures so braid outs look terrible AND twist outs look terrible! I see people do mini twists in their hair and I laugh because I know how sad they look on my head 😂
Yes that too. Curl the ends whether putting each braid into bantu knots, pin curls or on rollers. It depends on the curl she wants and how curly she wants the hair also
I have 4c hair the same length and thickness as yours and I LOVE braidouts! I find that twistouts don't hit the same for me :(. The secret for me is doing my braids big and braiding them loose so that I get definition AND fluff. When I braid my hair 2/3 of the way down, I loosely twist them so that takeout is quick and easy. Hope this helps!
I dn't knw wht I'm missing??? I think the braid out looks great...I know from watching your vids, you go for fullness. Although this style is more elongated, it is still full...I want elongated styles with a full look, but not over kill...So this was the vid for me to see...So THANK YOU! I needed this ☺
Yeah I can oy imagine😲😲. I love your videos they are really dope plus your very beautiful and have nice content. You've inspired me to start a RU-vid channel and share my journey too. Be blessed with your channel may it continue to grow.🤗🤗🤗
Yea, same. Braid outs are messy twist outs on me too, with twice the effort. Now that think of it, cornrow braid outs do well, I like rocking my post-crochet braid outs. Try about 6 cornrows.
i do a twaid out, but with heavier products. for my leavin i use a thick aloe vera gel, grease for the oil, and then a heavy defining cream. i only braid my roots, the rest is a twist from there
I had the same problem as you did! Instead of using it for braid/ twist/ bantu knot outs use it more for protective styles. It made my hair last longer and had a lot of shine to it. Hope this helps, loved you video btw! ❤️
I know this is old but i find that when doing braid outs it’s best to use French braids for more definition. Also don’t use a lot of grease and lastly make them chunky. Another thing you can do if your hair comes out the way it did in this video is to comb it out and do chunky twists for a day or so the unravel them you’ll get the most stretched loose twists.
I haven't done a braid out in years. So I can't offer any help. It doesn't look bad but I understand when you want a certain look and don't get it. I'm not sold on blue magic or any hair grease yet but I will keep watching you reviews on it.
I like doing two French braids or 4 plaits for a big hair braid out on wet hair after washing. I use a tangle teezer to detangle and the result is like a stretched version of my curl pattern but huge
Your results are phenomenal! I wish I could use blue magic. My hair hates grease. =\ For braidouts with good volume, I would say flattwist the first inch or two of the hair, then commence braiding.
Blue magic is a no for me but can you do a video of melted shea butter as a sealant. You would probably get much more definition and it would probably look wayyy better and feel less greasy. Lol no shade. N i love how you're just all around the world and still making videos for us! ❤
Have you been reading my thoughts? A hair journey video is on my list...I just gotta work up the nerve to spend that time compiling it all. That’s a great idea. I need an updated one 😊
The screts for a braid out id to separate very well (gently to keep as much definition as possible) and FLUFF FLUFF FLUFF YOUR ROOTS (with fingers or pick)
I'm always so excited to see your videos because you have such a beautiful energy! Go ahead black Queen 👑 Serious question, are we at nipple length hair yet? I feel like we are lol
Braidouts were my go to when my hair was shorter..... now, not so much. I have thin, fine hair so I have to play with the quantity. I haven't tried in a while so maybe I will soon.
@@LaToyaEbonyHair would that be in a bra because my nipple keeps going south. Eventually my hair would have to be knee-length because that's where my nipples are going to be. LOL!
Hehe. I have the exact hairstyle of my own hair braided up. And i have left it that way for weeks now. Just put a wig on and that's it. Its cold, its covid so no need to get dressy. Leave the hair alone, moisten it and then style it in the spring. Lol
I used to do 16 plaits for my braid out, and I would put so much product in my hair, in order to having lasting moisture, that it would take a minimum of 4 days to dry completely. When I removed my braids, I did very little separating or fluffing, since my hairstyles naturally get more voluminous as they age.
@@LaToyaEbonyHair Patience is definitely a virtue, and we could all use some from time to time. Here is a grease braidout that I came across that turned out really nice. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TF4edHu7DMs.html
If my hair is old sprayed or slightly damp (add leave in & blue magic) I make two braided ponytails with a hair ties at the top. I make sure the top of my hair is smooth & tied down, then put a perm rod at the end of each braid. In the morning I fluff each braid's three parts and cover the red sea part in the back of my head.
Hi, you don't need to apply a lot of grease, a little bit is enough. A tip for when your hair starts to get too thin in the end just twist them that way it will be easy to unravel. And try those styles on slightly damped hair not just moisturized with a cream.
Me I do prefer braid out for having stretched curls. What I am doing after taking down my braids after 03 days, I do big braids (02 to 04) I can keep for 02 hours minimum. I do not care on ré braids the first curls obtained. When I took these braids down, my hairstyle is fuller.
It's not only that the braid out itself leads to more elongation & less volume, but I've expected that using grease also seems to result in more elongation & less volume in my styles. Videos where other naturals use grease to style on one half of their head usually evinces the same result.
Hair grease is for conditioning the scalp. Use hair cream/moisturiser/leave in conditioner for the hair itself. Brush each section out of tangles and knots. Cover overnight and take out in the morning. 2 products, a comb and a brush. You are done. Don't make it more complicated and stay away from gel.
Thank you for sharing what works for you! I actually have quite a few hair videos on this channel using different techniques. The point of this video was to try grease specifically.
“30 minutes to take down!” I wouldn’t be able to do it! I take my braids out in the car on the way to work (pre-covid). I have a 15 minute drive and fluff at my desk. I like my hair big and fluffy. I get better stretch with braid outs and my roots aren’t puffy like with twist outs. I liked your hair at the end btw, I would have fluffed that right out!
Eu amo o seu conteúdo. Help! O outono chegou e meu cabelo começou a cair e quebrar muito. Estou com falhas na cabeça, buracos! Quero chorar 😢. Tem algo que eu possa fazer? Beijos
I think my hair is shorter than yours and I'm also not a braidout queen, but I recently tried the following: 1. Soaking wet hair (use a spray bottle to prevent the hair from drying). 2. Grease on top of whatever else you like to moisturise your hair with. (I use a spray bottle with water as my leave in conditioner, a DIY oil serum and I use castor oil for my edges) 3. A strong hold gel (if you use it with grease, you get definition without your hair losing moisture) 4. "Cornrow braidout" as I've seen people on RU-vid call it. I know there are some complicated cornrow braidout videos where the girl does 10 million cornrows but I just did 8 cornrows, front to back and that worked just fine for me. Some videos, the girl just does 4 or 2. 5. I hate seperating, (I'm a definition over volume type of girl, and seperating just seems like a lot of work, especially in the morning) and I like the cornrow braidout cause I won't have to seperate when I'm done unravelling them and I'll still have definition. You can still seperate the hair if you feel like you don't have enough volume though. 6. I use an afro comb (or "pick") to fluff my roots and to help get rid of the lines or make them less visable. I've seen some braidout queens using their fingers as an afro comb, but I don't know... See what works for you... Especially if you have a middle part, the top middle of your head (behind your front part, might need some extra fluffing. That's usually the only part of my braidout that I seperate to help hide the middle line. None of these tips are mine. These are all tips that I got from a number of RU-vidrs that I put together to make a braidout routine that works for me and that I like. I don't know if I'm type 4c or 4b or 4b/c, but I'm type 4. Also, I think your hair looked really nice, it wasn't defined, but I think it looked nice. But maybe that's just me.
Yea I noticed when I do my braids smaller it looks more flat but a lot of definition. My hair is 4a/b medium to high density and fine strands. I assume if they are bigger then it’s the opposite, less definition but more volume.
Mmhhmmm I feel you. I think I’m gonna use it sparingly. I don’t think it’s something that my low porosity hair can handle for months in end. I agree with the greasy part too.
Noted, mini twists can lock if left in tooo long lol the Twistout was really cute and fluffy and big. All dat grease! Have you tried a twaidout? They may be a better medium
Larger braids. No grease 😱 looser at the ends tighter at the roots; no borrowing hair to avoid frizz. The three sections you use MUST be even for it to turn out right.
Can you cornrow? 4 cornrows. 2 in front down to your ears. 2 going down the back to your neck. Will take much less time but give you the volume you are after. Or 6 braids 3 on each side of your head. On a different note if you were looking to wear a braid out for a week that look would've worked in your favour with minimal fluffing. It would just get bigger as the days going by with you having to do very little but slap a bonnet on and take it off in the morning.
What you do is twist your hair. Then take those twist and make braids for elongation into whatever style you want. You get the best of both worlds. Unbraiding a chunk of twists is easy.
