The owners seem so sweet and you can tell they take pride in their restaurant. Hope to visit their restaurant one day because those enchiladas look absolutely delicious!
its one of the best videos you have made; the owners are enthusiastic, genuine and energetic about their business and great personalities. Their foods look delicious and obviously a great chef. Thanks and God Bless.
Arnie, you are teaching this gringo how to cook Hispanic food. You are also teaching all of us about the restaurant business. If I get down in your area, I look forward to trying the you visit.
What’s better then Anita’s food is Erica and Rob as well as their entire staff. Been a customer since day one. Beautiful people and real Valley food. Love you guys. Good job Arnie!
As a home cook I always know when the plate is wiped clean , did it right it's when the family ask is there any thing left ,I know I showed my honor to feed the family it is a great feeling, tamales are 😂my Forte I always have to take a deep breath and tell them, ooook !a lways with a smile ,gimme a couple hours I will call you when they are ready to eat out of the steam pot ,it truly is a joy to see friends and family shake thier heads and smile you did it right ,keep making these super awesome videos arnie it is so good to see you enjoy life and smiles through the wonderful taste of heritage foods!
Arnie reminds me of my dear friend, Filiberto. Filiberto was born in Harlingen, Texas and taught me how to make Charro Beans and Chile Colorado from scratch. For some odd reason, Germans absolutely love Chicanos, Texicans, Tejanos, and Mexicans. Pretty sure the secret is in their cooking! ❤
There is a huge German influence and many German settlers in Hill Country, by Fredricksburg. I love the Hill Country so much. There is amazing schnitzel to be had there!!!!
These folks are part of the backbone that makes Texas great. It's all about hospitality, quality, and price. They're definitely on my bucket list the next time I make a trip to the Valley in Mission or Raymondville, ❤❤❤😊😊😊!!!
Great video! The food looked amazing!! What a dedicated and truly loving couple to give such heart to their restaurants, employees, and especially, to their customers.
This is definitely the best place in Edinburg to eat. I used to love Taco Ole but it's been years since they gone down hill. Breakfast at Anita's is great too.
Being from SA and now living in WTX hearing them ask “red, green, or cheese sauce” we cannot stand!! Thank goodness the wife knows how to cook so we have South TX cooking!
Robbie is fantastic, I love is outlook and philosophy. Very respectable and seems like a cool guy. Erica is a great lady who makes and completes her man.
I do wish we had one of your restaurants up here in Oregon, that looks so good, may God bless you with all the success and prosperity brought your way!
Hey Arnie, watching this video has made me hungry for some Mexican food. Problem is that it’s late and everyone is closed. I hope to visit Anita’s cafe some day and wish I had you as a friend and neighbor. I love your channel, your recipes and your personality.
Oh yeah I can't wait to try Diana's plate! That was my mother's name too! I plan on heading south, to Texas, in December. I'm a lil stuck up here in Montana and having surgery in November. Can't wait to head south for my 4th winter in Texas! H.E.B. and Texas bbq / Tex Mex! Yum! God bless you Arnie! You didn't say but please tell me those beans are made with lard! Bacon grease works good too! Cheers and happy cooking everyone!
When a business has really good food and service, you will always have customers wanting to eat at your establishment. After this video, Anita's Cafe better be ready for a lot more customers. I know the next time I go to The Basilica of Our Lady Of San Juan del Valle I will be eating here at Anita's Cafe. Those enchiladas look delish. 🤤
When I moved from Lubbock, Texas to Arizona, I discovered I did not know what Mexican food was lol texmex food and Mexican food vary quite a bit both styles very delicious
Man I miss good food like this...the rice looks wonderful no extra stuff that some others are adding...like peas, I can't stand to see dried up peas in my rice. But dang Arnie, those enchiladas, beans, Carne Guisada....fajita, omg I would be in heaven!!! I'm stuck up here north of Austin...where they claim to have the best food...I still haven't found it!!! This Anita's looks like what I grew up eating...wonderful TexMex, that gravy...Man I gotta get down there soon...5+ hrs drive...might have to plan a Port Isabel trip!!! Thanks for sharing Anitas!!
The tortilla and butter snack got me curious. I sometimes have some toasted tortillas with a little tajin on em as a snack, lil butter on it too sounds heavenly haha. Love your stuff man been learning so much. Have a good one!
There was this place in Pomona I grew up going to called La Cabana(name reference.) It was the 'Taco Bell' of chips and salsa Mexican food. They had a ground beef enchilada..the "movies".
those enchiladas look really good similar to some of the best i've eaten in the valley in harlingen, texas at las vegas restaurant; sure would like to know how they make the sauce; do you have a recipe that duplicates these wonderful enchiladas?
Next time I'm down in the Rio grande valley I got to swing by and try this restaurant out.. everything looks wonderful, I live in West Texas and we are very limited very few restaurants there are some good ones but very few.
Hey Arnie everything looked DELICIOUS makes me want to take a food road trip to some of your favorite food spots. Starting from Pasadena Ca. towards Texas maybe a couple of weeks of eating 🤔 Arnie can you put the links to the restaurants and tacos that you visit so it would make it easier for us to find. Keep up the great work you do for your videos and food adventures. Love you Guy in So. Cal.
I have yet to figure out how my favorite Mexican restaurant does their enchilada sauce (Spring, Texas (Suburbs of Houston)) It has this fruity flavor almost.
If 9 to 11 hours drive is close, then yes. You have to go to the RGV at least once. I am SE of San Antonio, and the RGV is a whole different world. Luckily, I go about 4 times a year.
Anita’s is a solid spot forsure ! Meat is always cooked on point and there tortillas are great .. now personally there enchiladas are not my favorite I’ve had better but not bad just wish the cheese was cheddar and not American 🙃 but it’s great and a great video Arnie
Ooo man I want to try this place cause my wife loves mexican food, but I ain't driving to McAllen basically from Houston 🤣sorry but wish yall the continued success!
@ArnieTex you should definitely visit my uncles restaurant in Mission,Tx please it's called El Patio , Uncle Mario is the owner and always there in the first table near the door.God bless
I've had discussions with many Mexicans regarding the legitimacy of Taco Bell/Del Taco, and US-based "mexican food". The common 'ask' was "is this legitimate 'mexican food'?" The answer is - compared to what? Mexican "street food" is prepared no-different than Taco Bell/Del Taco is, the ingredients are alittle different. That's It.
Hello Arnie, I really love your channel. I love cheese enchiladas. I would like to make restaurant style cheese enchiladas. Can you do a video on this, please please 🙏 😊I want to know how to make the sauce especially in this restaurant. I live in California so I can’t go there to eat.
I like Anita's restaurants. They're good, but they're a little bit far away from my house in McAllen. I used to be a Don Juan regular, but they fell from grace long ago if anyone remembers. For the past decade I've been a Zamora's customer almost every weekend, except when I'm attacking Delia's Tamales.
@@ArnieTex My dad does too, and it's closer to his house in Edinburgh. I join up with him over there for breakfast once a month. I can also say they make a delicious botana platter. I joined my dad for some football on TV one weekend, and we were too lazy to make our own, so we picked one up. 😋 So good! I love your show Arnie, keep up the good work!
