I went to high school in the RGV at the Marine Military Academy. I fell in love with tacos in Matamoros. I’m now the pit master of my own bbq company, and we do language and beef cheek tacos. Still love the RGV!

My dad was a welder. He grew up in CC. He learned to weld in the ship yards. His brother in law owed Blackies Welding on Ayers St. Now my cousin is retired from there and his boys have the welding shop. We used to ride sitting on the welding machine, holding on to the roll bar on dad’s truck. Those were the days.

East Austin was the mecca. The best tex mex I ever ate. When the gentrification started back in 2010 I left. I'm a Jalisco and Michoacán style mex food person. When the Californians and east coast people invaded I was done.

My wife and I are visiting Austin and on your recommendations, we hit the 3 taco mafia locations yesterday. That discada taco was next level, as was the buche from cuanto! We finished the night at nixta and ate almost the entire menu, incredible food from some incredible people! Thank you for helping us have an amazing taco tuesday!

Arnie those looked good....All of 'em. Out here in California I can't find a taco joint that still cooks tortillas with oil in a pan, on a flat top, on a skillet, a plancha, a hot rock you name it! I'm so tired of steamed corn tortillas!! Some of these tacos you shared with us today looked like they were lightly fried with a little oil or fat. Do they still make tacos that way in Texas? If so, move over cause I'm on my way..... Thanks for all you show us. I love watching your fun and educational videos.

It's not a debate. If you want the best tacos in Texas, you head down to the RGV. Specifically, the city of Brownsville. I'd even argue they have the best tacos in the entire US. All that said, damn did all these tacos look absolutely delicious!

Nothing beats a good taco. Through my travels when I was younger, we went to a steak house (sorry not tacos, but think/know you would enjoy). There is a steakhouse "Longhorn Cattle Co.....or something like that. They have the BEST BEAN (Pinto) soup?....dish?....it is THE appetizer when you walk in the door. EVERYONE gets a cup/bowl. It's in Harlingen or Brownsville, not quite sure. I WOULD LOVE your take on it and any recreation you might take on it. I was NEVER a bean lover until I tasted those....and if I could see how it was made and introduce that same to my family......(smh) GREAT experiences and stories. If you EVER get down there again....please, please, please, look them up. Promise for the beans alone....will not disappoint
