This video demonstrates one thing very well. That there isn't just a blueprint to "how to exercise to gain mass/strength/endurance" there are countless ways people tried over the years to improve in this sport, there isn't just one way and you need to find what works best for you. Don't follow blindly into someone else training regiment, I mean you can if it works for you but you don't have to. Great video as always.

@anomaly3215
@anomaly3215 2 месяца назад
well it's not that simple, you have to look at the SFR (stimulus to fatigue ratio) and find the best workouts for you by applying that, you can't just do what's inferior just because it's what you like doing and then expect to get the best results, you NEED to step out of your comfort zone and find the best workouts
@B4R7H0L0M3W
@B4R7H0L0M3W 2 месяца назад
I never said to follow shitty workouts, I said not to follow 1 thing without trying all the others and finding what works best for you.(by best I don't mean easiest, I mean the best way that gives you better health, strength, endurance or whatever you're after)@@anomaly3215

Old-School physiques are the most aesthetic. No comparison with today's mass monsters. I always tell young guys that one of the best things you can do as a lifter interested in aesthetics / performance / strength is to study Old-School bodybuilding. Old-School bodybuilders were ingenious physique architects. They had a profound knowledge of the principles of proper nutrition, smart supplementation, exercise science, and muscle adaptability. If you combine Old-School bodybuilding wisdom with modern, evidence-based science, it's the best, safest, most effective way in achieving a strong, sexy, healthy, and aesthetic physique. "Vintage Physique" by George Kelly is a nice read on the topic.

I've heard that the reason antagonistic supersets can feel easier is that normally antagonistic muscles resist each other a little (for example triceps resist a little during biceps curls), but since they're fatigued, they resist less than they normally would.

Globe weights could be adjusted in 1/3 oz increments on each side using cap n ball lead (round bullets.) Mike Brown made a 2.5lb "sticking point smashers' that allow this on a plate loaded bar, combined with lots of liver powder and steak and eggs; one could develop quite the physique with that tool.

As Arnold said, the problem with Mentzer style high intensity training is that it's easy to burn out on it. The main difference between yesterday's bodybuilding and today's is that older era bodybuilders could only get much of their information from magazines or gym bros. Today, we have all kinds of resources, especially social media, videos, and so on. Now, we can learn all we want about proper form, supplements, and steroids. What may be harder today is getting high quality PEDs and navigating around the legal system.
