I'm back and this week I bring you one of many recipes of Banana Meatloaf, this one from 1941 in the cookbook "Bananas and How to Serve Them". Enjoy this salty adventure and feel free to try it for yourself.
I am mildly disappointed the bananas were not just laid out in the middle of the meatloaf like in the thumbnail, lol. Mashing them actually sounds like an interesting idea, but cat food is NOT an interesting idea. Thank you for trying this so that we don't have to, lol. Maybe the T was a typo and should have been a t?? Ho. Ly. Crap. Also, I think we have the same set of measuring spoons, lol. I got it as a bridal shower gift.
There are many recipes for banana meatloaf (unfortunately). Some do have the banana running through 😂. Sadly the recipe writes out tablespoons and teaspoons, so I have no idea what these people’s tastebuds were doing then. Too funny those heart shape measuring spoons were a gift for my wife at her bridal shower also hahahaha
When I make meatloaf I add an egg to help bind the meat and for moisture. Did that do the same thing with the banana? I’m looking forward to your next video.
WELCOME BACK!!! FINALLY!!! 😊 Wet cat food🤑. Your descriptions are priceless...and descriptive, so I really don't feel the need to make this one. As you were preparing this, I couldn't wait for you to try it. It sounds like ingredients they would give you on that cooking show - all unrelated and couldn't conceivably go together- and challenge you to make something delicious out of it. I dont think using banana is necessarily horrible but what on earth were they thinking with the salt amount?? But what about pickle spears in the meatloaf...?? 🤔🙂 Very interesting piece of history and great video. Thank you!
You know what? I'm going to try it next time meatloaf is on the menu. My husband loves pickles and my meatloaf but going to pass on the banana and extra salt!@@TheTimeTravelingChef
