This might sound weird but I used warm mud on my sandlot series and it isn't slick anymore. It also looks good enough that my coach thought it was a Heart of the Hide lol.
@@khi1k714 I was playing catch around a campfire re, and my cousin was playing in some mud. When the baseball slipped out of my glove and into the fire, I think it was my dad who recommended warming up some mud over the fire (till it's warm but not hot) and lightly rubbing it on my glove. After it completely hardened, I washed it off with lukewarm water and idk what it did, but the ball didn't slip out anymore. If I were to do it again, I would have only rubbed it on the palm and pocket of the glove, not the entire thing.
Should've run the Easton Flagship through this testing. Seriously slept on glove line. The internal structure, leather quality, ease of break in and just overall build quality is unrivaled in the sub 200 range. And you can find them under 100 which makes them an absolute steal.
💡I love these videos of cheap baseball gloves. I can't wait to see one of the best cheap catcher's gloves. Do you plan to continue with this series? You already have some of those. Continuing would be amazing! My recommendation: Rawlings (Sandlot, encore, gamer XLE, R9), Marucci (Acadia and oxbow), Wilson A1000 SSK (Z5 and Z7). All of them for less than $200!!! 💥💥💥
The Sandlot is the best looking and is a great glove for the price. The leather will wear well and get less “slick”. The bigger issue is that it doesn’t have leather laces. If you swap out the laces, it’s a winner.
I'm using the mvp prime for slowpitch right now in the outfield and it's been great. That being said I was actively searching for a more shallow pocket compared to various Rawlings models I had used previously
I know it's hard to have all the gloves in the world, but I think in this price range, the Easton Professional, Easton Flagship, and Akadema ProSoft are missing. They are the other gloves in this price range.
Easton Flagship is solid, Easton Professional doesn’t count though because it’s original price is over $200 I made a video on those… crazy cheap gloves that are good! Akademas are super hit or miss. I’ve seen some decent Akademas and I’ve seen some that are horrid lol
@@ballgloveking Flagship is generally what I recommend. At $130, it's not for youth and soft like the R9. The web is H, which requires less maintenance than a trapeze in MVP Prime. If Mizuno put a single post on 1B and an H web in the OF, they'd sell like water.
Thanks for this video. I bought the mizuno gxf102 for my son and I to use off your recommendation. Even if he don’t play 1st much I can use to catch for him.
I’m breaking in an Under Armour outfield glove I got new on Sideline Swap for $135 + S&H. I haven’t been able to find out anything about the model so I assume it was released some years ago. Seller called it a Pro Stock model, but there’s nothing on the glove itself to verify that. It’s a tank. Really well made, great leather, probably the best SMELLING glove I have, but pretty heavy and a beast to break in. I might love it, though.
I saw your video on American Japanese glove vs Japanese gloves which is better, I was wondering if you could do another video on the yabai baseball glove and go into more depth on if I should purchase it over a A2000 or Rawlings pro referred.
I was hoping you were going to pick up one of the easton professional series outfield gloves to try. I have one of their infield/utility models the c43 12" and love it...but need to pick up an outfield glove for one of my 14u players that doesn't really have no support at home and he needs a new glove badly and I can't afford to break the bank having my own 2boys in the sport also
You should try the sandlot catchers mitt. Its awesome. The inside is completely different to the other fielders versions I have and it feels like a much more quality glove.
The best mid range should be Rawlings R2G if they would bring the price down to $200 - 220. You can find them at that price point if you do a little shopping around. For first baseman, youth and outfield they are fantastic 👍 Real leather, NOT that synthetic plastic like pleather used on some of those.
Loved the video and the breakdown. Glad to see someone else going semi-mental over gloves. I had purchased a Mizuno Prime for softball and returned it. The glove setup was fine but i did not like the feel of the leather. Another thing i have noticed over the years with particular glove series ie. Rawlings Sandlot or RSG and even Mizuno Prime. The earlier iterations of the glove have a better leather quality than the ones they make now. Sandlot is a great example. What is the deal with wearing socks to field flyballs?
I have the r9 mod trap 11.75 model for playing catch with the kids. I web isn't a problem if you don't buy one. Size XL batting gloves, so I can't speak to small hands. 14u kid also has xl hands. Fielding isn't an issue, its a good glove. I use an a2000 14 for SP for reference.
There are a lot of people asking about the gold glove elite. The issue with the gold glove elites is they are no longer made the way they used to be made, the finger back linings are no longer leather (cheap cloth material) feel good initially but start to feel really cheap shortly after. Older gg's were far superior. R9 is your new gg.
Can you do a video like this on higher end outfield gloves? I know you have the glove list so if not it’s ok. It’d just be cool to see more gloves and in video format. Also keep up the great work man! Love the videos
Hey Glove King! I am fixing to go into to high school, and i plan on playing third. I see that you have the A2K as your number one, but i'm wanting to customize a glove and i don't want to spend the $580 that it cost to customize. Other than the A2K, which glove do you think i should get?
I'm no baseball expert but I was wanting a different glove to play catch with my kid who plays MS. I've just played LL and slow pitch. I picked up the Rawlings Player Preferred Retro 12.75. First time I've gone only two in the pinky, but it broke in very easily and has been great to play catch with. I only played third so it's a bit big, but nice to play catch with my son.
This is crazy cool to see because that field you were playing on is my coaches family field (Motley Family Field), I practice there like every other day so its kind of sad I didn't catch you there that day, but besides that keep up the good work and I love watching the vids❤👍
I have an R9 with the T web, it’s a good glove honestly, better than all my A2000s, Pro Preferred, Heart of the Hyde, and 44s, just wish it was a lot stiffer. Great beginner glove though for like 140 or so
A ton to unpack for differences between Rawlings and Mizuno. They are both good gloves and mostly comes down to feel. I think the finger shift is maybe too big lol. I can fit all four fingers in the pinky effortlessly
Great video. I love watching your videos and I’m subscribed. I play 12u baseball and I really want a high quality glove. My parents won’t pay for a really expensive one. I was wondering if I could please buy your A2000 DP15 ICE.
I personally bought the R9 and it’s great. It’s a 302 pattern. I hate the brick red Sandlots the OG Sandlot was better leather and way better laces, probably why Rawlings redesigned it.
What’s about a first base glove do you want it like an outfield glove soft and easy to close. Or like infield where you want it open more. Or is there like an in between
Hey ben, what do you think about the emery custom gloves? I’m thinking about getting a pitcher or infield glove and am wondering on their leather quality on american kip?
Yo completely off topic, thinking about ordering an infield 44, what series do you recommend? ( Pro 44, EX-10, JP11 etc) i’m gonna be playing a bunch of 3rd and 2nd base
I have a question about glove sizes, so i sometimes play center field and sometimes switch to 2nd base, and i want a hybrid glove size, im in my sophomore of high school, what should i get, im looking at a heart of the hyde but idk what size
I'm trying to get an outfielder glove that close thumb to pinky is the mizuno mvp prime and how to do you break in so it can close thumb to pinky easier
Am I wrong I have owned pro perfered a2000 a2k both 1786 and dp15 and bunch of np and 200 patterns in Rawlings and I fell in love with a really well made gg elite I hated on them so much and I found one and it has an amazing form and the leather seemed better then all the gg elites I’ve held and seen am I tripping or are they good gloves cuz I have a collection and have been in the glove industry for a couple years I even got some colleges and pro issues and I am in love with this gg elite and it’s not a higher class glove am I tripping ?
Love the channel but how is Gold Glove Elite not included in this it's probably the most common budget glove out there I can't even find half the ones you're talking about
Bro.. just watched one of your videos. Had no idea you’re in KC. Just joined a mens league here. Caught a ball in the palm and my hand was killing me (Wilson 800) looking at something much better.
Hey dude can you recommend me a good budget first base mitt (I’m right handed) I have a sweet mizouno glove and if you can find me one like that. That would be much appreciated
