I used to use Paula's Choice religiously (like for 10 years) and still love it. The only thing that helped my cystic acne, though, was doing Acutane. Nothing helped my skin like that did and ever since I did it - again, about 10 years ago, my skin has been amazing and I almost never have cystic acne and I never have whiteheads.

That's amazing! I went on Accutane about a decade ago and still get cystic acne unfortunately

Sheesh, did you read my mind? I’ve been thinking about trying the acne line by Paulas Choice. I just don’t want to waste my time and money, or stress out my skin unnecessarily. I think I’m going to try the exfoliator and their moisturizer thanks to you. Your skin looks really good after treatment. My teens, 20s and 30s I had super oily, grease slick skin with some congestion, whiteheads, and acne blemish here and there but no other major issues. My biggest concern was making sure I got enough sunscreen on as I was an athlete and spent long hours in the sun. I didn’t really have a skin care routine, any old moisturizer slapped on my face got the job done. But in this new decade of life everything changed, my skin is more normal/dry, I have horrible cystic acne and really dark melasma just for fun. It’s been such a drastic change that some days I don’t even feel like myself. I’m having to learn how to care for a stranger’s bad skin and also learn how to wear makeup for the first time to cover up my new cow spots (melasma). It may seem trivial but I’m really thankful for you putting yourself out there and showing your real skin and sharing your journey. My acne is significantly worse than yours at times, and seeing other people with acne gives me courage- as silly as that sounds.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! I'm pretty sure Paula's choice is having a sale right now for 25% off ! I totally know what you mean. My acne in my late teens and early 20s was really bad. One time my acne swelled my eye shut and I couldn't see for 2-3 days. If I can encourage you to do anything is be kind and gentle to yourself as you figure things out 💕

I appreciate PC, I only tried a few products but I've heard a lot of people with different skin types speak very highly of them. Their products seem to be effective and cosmetically elegant, and the price is decent. I also like that they don't pack every trendy active ingredient into every single product, for me that's a recipe for disaster if you're not well-versed in skincare (also a waste of money and resources, because not everyone needs every single active in their routine). I have clear normal skin and I don't really care about the texture of a product, so I don't need anything fancy. A full routine of PC products is out of my price range, even if I stick to my very minimalist routine of a cleanser, (a thinner and a thicker) moisturizer, BHA, and sunscreen. The only PC product I stick to is the 2% BHA Liquid (if you don't use a cotton pad it last a long time, so it's much more affordable than it might seem), for anything else I use drugstore products. I never noticed that the Clear BHA 2% is so similar to the other one in the dark grey packaging, the Clear one has more hydrating and skin-soothing ingredients, I would assume that makes it more suitable for acne-prone and sensitive skin.

Yes I agree! A full PC regime is likely out of my price range for most of the time so I think I'll just stick to getting a couple of my fave products. I agree with your thoughts on the brand as a whole and am glad I found them because I have been so impressed with my results!
