I Started my own company in 2011 and I was killing it until the pandemic... Now as my professional life limps along I am reassessing my goals going forward and coming to the (rather obvious) realization that there's still a lot of work left to do.
I also mention Andrew Huberman. Even though I do get into a bit of neuroscience research, this video isn't about Huberman. It's about me.

Great info, mate. As a solo consultant myself, building up my mental will to relaunch my business has taken literally this long (while I had a permanent day job to help me put it off, too). But I literally just finished my first consult call in over 3 years, and I don't know what I was worried about. I have to remember that I'm being hired because I'm the one who knows stuff that people want to know.

My first business failure was like death! Something in me just died, and I actually wanted to just go to sleep and never awaken. Fast FWD: I got over it and started another business which led to other endeavors and acquisitions. Most were disappointing, and a few failed. At day's end, I retired right at age 50 - financially secure. The road to success is paved with the stones of failure. NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF! All Is Possible.

My first business death also felt like a horrible death... and then you recover and find that there's so much more out there. I am glad to see that you found your way through.

@@andorafreedom3313 And retirement is just wonderful - pickleball, hiking, swimming, mountain biking and sleeping in. LOVE IT! And yet, everywhere I go, I still see opportunity all around and sometimes, I am tempted to scratch that itch. I have to remind myself that my time has past, and I just don't have it in me to endure the risk.

I have been there a couple of times myself. However I have learned that failure is just a necessary and important part of the process of living. I won't deny it gets scary while going through it though.

Yeah absolutely scary when you've got to face the unkown but I agree that decline and failure are 'normal' and they make you hustle and re invent yourself. So some good can come of it as long as you don't give in to that fear and quit.

Staying actively engaged in life is crucial and regular challenge is essential. The brain needs this to continually grow and expand and yes indeed, lazy time is also equally important. Balance in all things.

Yeah, unfortunately it just doesn't work to be lazy all the time..... ☹️

Why does everyone have amnesia about last recession. It was a 4 year nightmare
@awkwardgenius
@awkwardgenius 8 месяцев назад
Like all recessions, it's a nightmare for alot of people but alot of people are basically unaffected, so collective amnesia is easier

My company is, slowly. Or so it seems after years of growth to have to use my savings to get by and fire staff as legacy clients fade away... or maybe I'm just being dramatic
