It's long been my goal to find an elusive Murray Cod in my local kayak spot @ Melton Reservoir. I've FINALLY managed to achieve this part on my fishing bucket list!! With plenty of ups and downs and some quality fish in this video, I'm really hoping you enjoy this episode as I sure enjoyed my day out there!!
GEAR USED:
Rod: TT Lures Red Belly RBC601H 6-10kg
Reel: Shimano SLX DC 150
Line: Sufix Green 30lb braid
Leader: Jinkai Pink 30lb mono
Lure: Size 2 Aftershock Stumpjumper in Blue/Pink
Rod: St Croix Bass X BAC68MXF 8-14lb
Reel: Shimano SLX DC 150
Line: Sufix Green 20lb Braid

It's worth noting that rod holders will cost you big cod from time to time! Sometimes they jam in the rod to the holder and you can't get them out! I saw the rod get stuck in there even on that yella, might be worth keeping one rod in hand from time to time!

This is true I reckon they've cost me a couple fish, but I also like the hands-free aspect they give as I'm usually steering, having a bite to eat or a drink out there too hahaha.

Cheers mate! I've definitely put in some km on the troll trying to find one, one of my previous videos has some tips on how to troll for them. While my success rates wouldn't suggest I'm that good at it, I've been doing what the other guys in there have been doing that are far more successful. I guess they just don't lose as many fish as I have 😅

@@jordythebassist your welcome I saw that video was really good :) haha don't worry I'm no better dropped 2 good reddies at the Ressy yesterday but that's fishing! I glad the cod and yelas have done well their I think literally it needs a boat ramp and maybe a pontoon. I just wish people stopped trashing the place

@orazio5481 that's a bugger mate! There is a boat ramp down south for the ski club but you need to be a member to use it. I agree the rubbish sucks, the local council needs to take better care of it but Melton city council is NOTORIOUS within Victoria for how bad it is. At least the place becomes pristine once you get away from the launch spot, you'd think you're somewhere up in Central Vic and not within the metropolitan region

@@jordythebassistYa I saw that like they control the water up till the rail bridge from that boat ramp. Ya Melton council not great that's for sure. Agreed like once you get away from the main strip it really does come nice I was fishing a new spot of the bank other day and I couldn't believe how clear the water was even after the rain. Tight lines mate!
