I've had my '23 EUV for about two months now, approaching 2000 miles. It is really a fantastic car and I enjoy driving it. I will quibble with one point Tommy made though: I think the ride is a bit too soft. Over larger undulations, it isn't as controlled as I'd like coming from driving recent Ford and VW products. Still, while the car isn't conventionally sporty it somehow manages to be fun to drive. If you're thinking about buying one, I highly recommend it.

@@AustinGagnee yeah, just before the pandemic it was just $800 bucks to install a Level 2 charger and that included added a 240v plug, connecting it (wiring it) and adding the dedicated charger to the wall. In southern California the local power company paid $500 of that. I think the over $3k installation could be those garages/houses that don't even already have 240v even for the clothes dryer.

@evolutionengineering3360 Год назад
Xcel Energy in MN will install a level 2 charger for free ... you just pay a monthly "fee" of like $12/mo. You must have the wiring and circuit out to that location and ready to go though. Small price to pay. I think more homes would benefit from having solar panels or roof tiles. You get paid during the day while you are gone and sip at a lower cost over-night when you're charging. You'll still make money off the higher cost daytime grid costs. Can't wait until Musk nails the Solar Roof down and gets the cost just right (lower). We are going in the right direction but we shouldn't have shot ourselves in the face by cutting off the pipelines, drilling and refining. Gotta feather that clutch before you shift gears...

@@mamadouaziza2536 EV prices have no chance of dropping below that price with the current status quo. In the future that may change as new battery chemistries are introduced (battery tech is going through a bit of a renaissance right now if you didn't know) and if a.) domestic production ramps up or b.) roadblocks to importing vehicles from countries like China are removed (this is particularly unlikely imo). There are a few Chinese companies now that are able to produce and sell full spec, full performance EVs at a fraction of the cost that U.S. and other western automakers are due to low labor costs, better access to raw materials, and government subsidies. The only things preventing these significantly cheaper EVs from entering the U.S. market are negative consumer sentiment and hostile trade policy.

I leased a '22 EUV over the summer and couldn't be happier. The slow-ish DC charging hasn't been an issue for me yet, but that was the main reason I decided to lease instead of buy. I bought my 2022 Bolt EUV in June right after the price drops. The dealer got 12 in off the truck and they were gone in a week. Mine is a LT2 in white. Just the right amount of options and with everything out the door it was less than $34,000. I sold my 2017 Ford Focus St to Carmax for $3,500 less than I paid for it new and I drove it 75,000 miles. With the price drop on the Chevy and what I got for the Ford, it was perfect timing. I love this car. It's so easy to drive. Obviously, it's not as sporty as the ST, but it is still fun to drive. If Chevy keeps the price low for next year, and it fully qualifies for the Inflation Reduction Act tax credit (depends on battery and "critical minerals" sources) this will be by far the most affordable EV on the roads. And in my state, there's a further $2,500 point-of-purchase rebate, with a further income-dependent point-of-purchase rebate up to $5,000. If it keeps its price through 2024 when the federal tax credit becomes point-of-purchase, in my state, you'd be able to get a brand new decent EV for as little as $12,500 out the door. And GM still includes home 240V outlet installation - so no extra out-of-pocket to get higher-than-standard-household-outlet charging at home. That will be a game changer. That is "reasonable quality used Honda Civic" territory. For states that have extra incentives for lower-income, this could finally be the catalyst to get lower-income people to seriously consider an EV. If there was a new "cash for clunkers" program, that could drive cost down even more.

I’ve had my 2022 Bolt EV since July 2021, has 29,000 miles and it has been great. Not one problem whatsoever. First, I assume the brake lights will come on when you take your foot off the pedal, or just slow down. My question is, at what point or level of slowdown, do the brake lights come on? It already annoys me when following a driver tailgating the car in front of his or her car, constantly having to tap the brakes. AWD is not necessary. I have a Bolt Ev here in the northeast and it works great with proper winter tires. The narrative needs to change for EVs because ICE cars with AWD benefitted from the weight of the engine on front helping with traction , but with the weight of the batteries distributed across the car, either front or rear wheel drive will work, you just need proper tires.

Have a 22 EUV approaching 6,000 miles and it's a great car. The only thing I don't really like is the Bose audio system - the Volt's sounded much better. The Bolt has an annoying speaker rattle in the front door panels. I plan to sound-deaden and replace the front speakers to resolve that one. Otherwise, it's a great vehicle and during the summer months I was getting higher than the EPA range even charging to just 80%.

Such a great car. This has a lot of features that even a model 3 doesn’t have! I was so close to getting this and still May do it, but I did order a model 3. What does this have that model 3 doesn’t?? Supercruise for one which works great… no hands! CarPlay, wireless, turn in or off one pedal, regen paddle, ventilated seats, rear view camera, sunroof that actually opens. And more. It’s such a great car and I’m seeing more of them on the road, nothing beats this. I rented one and was amazing and I still may get one. Definitely the best of the cheaper cars. The only issues are no saving seat settings, no passenger auto seats, a single zone climate control (this was some kind of afterthought as there is an actual black placeholder where dual temp change should have been), a top speed of only 92 (sounds quick but on an 80 mph road you way want to go 90 and won’t be able to pass8, and the thing that’s the biggest issue… charge speed…. It’s very very slow. 55kw! The cheaper model 3 has 147 and most cars do have much more. Range is fine. Dashboard is great…. Really like this and like he said.. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did either!

I wish the charger the charger port was on the passenger side, would be easier to charge on curb side of a street. I wish also the rear bench would be a 40/20/40 split, would be easier to put skis and still fit 4 persons. But it looks like a nice car.

Let me address the "not a great car for a long road trip" comment you often hear. I've had Bolt EV/EUV Premier's since they came out in 2017. This past year I've taken THREE 2,000 mile road trips up the west coast from the SF BayArea to far upstate WA. Two days up; two days back. The trick is I drive 150-165 miles, leaving me a 30-60 mile buffer. I charge to 80% only, which is the fastest part of a full charge, and then go on my way with about 180-200 miles of range. This takes 40 minutes. Every time. So I stop 3 times, for 40 minutes, which takes a total of 2 hours. This is typically stopping every 2-21/2 hours, and mostly depending on charger location and availability.After 2 1/2 hours driving, it's nice to get out and stretch, get a bite to eat, take a nap, check email, etc. An Ionic 5 says it'll charge to 80% in 18 minutes - but good luck getting that. I've not seen a single person commenting saying that it actually does that. More like 25 minutes or more. Lots of variables in play. So, I figure it's an extra 20 minutes per charge, realistically. Times three for the number of stops, and that means a 500 mile day/leg takes me an hour longer than an Ionic 5. So 9 hours instead of 8. The Ionic 5, spec'd out like my fully max'd out EUV Premier - like the one in this video, to be exact - even the same color - was $34k out the door. An equivalent HI5 is the Limited version, which is at least $55k. and that's not even out the door. $60k out the door. Take $10k off, if you like, and you're still at $16k more than my fully max'd EUV P. Like the guy says here, the EUV Premier, especially, is the BEST VALUE you can get in an EV today, for sure. Bar none. No doubt. I'll live with an extra 20 minutes charging every 2 1/2 hours of driving. It's not that bad at all.

I’d love to see these front wheel/2wd Ev’s rested in Colorado snow and maybe with snow tires. I know the ev traction managing systems are very good and my guess is that with some good snow tires this would be just fine except in a 1+ft blizzard ( most people stay home during these anyway)

I''ve taken it on a few road trips, LA to Phoenix, LA to San Francisco (2 times), LA to Palm Springs (4 times), LA to San Diego (3 times). It's a GREAT car, and as Edmunds pointed out, comparing it to a Tesla Model Y, the Bolt has better features, easier controls, rides smoother, has less interior noise. By the first of 2024, we non Tesla owners will be able to use the very expanded Tesla Supercharger network. Buy this car, it's GREAT !!

Some people get a car in a month, but probably half the people who ordered in July are still waiting

I wanted to buy one of these but the timing was off. Actually, for the third time. The first time I was going to buy a used Bolt, the fires started, so I bought a Volt. Decided to trade that back in for a Bolt, but, more fires. So, got a Spark EV. I had also ordered a Maverick Hybrid on a whim. Fast forward to April of this year, and my Spark EV lease was coming up right at the same time my Maverick was being delivered, along with the car market being bat shit crazy, and.....a no sale on the Bolt and Bolt EUV. I tried every which way with my local Chevy dealer, but they wouldn't sell me one or even let me put it on hold. So I wound up buying the 'on a whim' Maverick Hybrid. And wound up loving it and happy I have it. But I have to admit I still think about the EUV from time to time.
