so the 3 girls from the movie went on to have very successful careers. hayley kiyoko is a very popular singer, bridget mendler has starred in several tv shows, and naomi scott went on to play princess jasmine in the live action aladdin. as for the guys: blake michael is some crazy successful businessman who works with forbes and adam hicks was arrested for robbery and served time in prison.

Man, I have a feeling Billy is gonna roast the heck out of my favorite DCOM. And I’m honestly here for it.

Bridget Mendler actually has one of the best careers! (She's Olivia - the main blonde girl btw, cause I already know Billy doesn't know her name 😭) Her debut album was lemonade mouth as the top song got 2 on the billboard charts. She actually now has multiple degrees from Harvard and MIT, and is currently doing a PhD at MIT. For a while after Disney she did purely music but now alongside her PhD, she's been writing movie and TV show scripts, plus a lot of songs for other artists.

This movie is genuinely amazing to me. I grew up with this one, and while I can acknowledge the cheesy aspects as an adult, it doesn't change how much I love this movie. The songs are fantastic, and the message of music bringing people together and getting you through hard times speaks to me personally. The scene where the audience sings for them is so powerful, and the way it's shot moves me every time. It's not for everyone, but it's truly something special.

Nerd Alert: I read the book before the DCOM was even out!! It’s much more risqué, and less childish… and the drama was way more intense!! There was more detail on Charlie & Mo’s relationship, Olivia and her dad’s letters… whew it’s been years and I STILL RECOMMEND! I think Disney did a great job, idk what Billy’s on 😂

not him thinking the lemonade was magical 🤣 the lemonade was just how they got their band name and was something that brought them together. they could already play the instruments and sing before. and they all were playing bad at the Rising Star competition because of their series of unfortunate events that would only happen in a Disney movie before something important lol - Wen's vision was fucked due to the black eye so he couldn't see the keys, Charlie broke his fingers in a fit of rage after Mo rejected him and he couldn't drum properly, Mo was sick, and Olivia lost her voice in the argument with Wen. Stella was the only one who could do anything 😭 i think the character depth in this movie is the best in any Disney movie. each character has backstory and unique obstacles they want to overcome. Olivia with her dad being in prison and her mom passing away and the stage fright, Stella not being a "genius" like her family and living up to their standards and being rebellious, Wen being worried about his dad's girlfriend and not spending time with him anymore, Mo coming from her traditional and strict family and having to hide a lot of her school life plus her scummy boyfriend being in the rival band, and Charlie being in his brother's shadow and feeling pressured to be as talented and successful as him to please his mom. Disney rarely ever has character depth like that and it's also realistic and relatable, and i think that's why so many people say this is Disney's best original film. plus the music is bomb. 🙃

The Rihanna song you're thinking about is Unfaithful, and I never realized how similar those chords are. Also that song they performed at the pizzeria! I definitely let it define me. And embarrassingly performed it at my third grade talent show. I will never forgive my family for letting me do that! Also I'm upset that Livin On A Highwire didn't make it into the film - it's a deleted scene. It's like one of the best songs, in my opinon.

I've played violin for 16 years and I love how excited Billy gets anytime a violin is played!

During the Rising Star contest, the reason they were playing like that wasn’t bc they forgot how to play it even though they rehearsed so many times, it was bc of the injuries they had: Wen has a black eye so his vision got blurry and wasnt able to see the right notes and Olivia lost her voice due to an argument between her and Wen so she can’t sing properly.

I feel ashamed for what Billy is about to say about my movie. These songs were it 😭

I worked at a restaurant. This one customer would order a glass or two of wine when she came in to get her son his weekly pizza and gelato. She'd go in the bathroom and drink it, so her son and/or husband wouldn't see. 🤷 They tipped $15-20 on a $30 order each time.

Still one of the best Disney movies in my opinion. The acting was good, and it aged well unlike most other Disney dcom movies.

I still love this movie. I found it when I was in a dark place. I tried to end me several times. I knew a lot of the actors from Disney channel shows so I watched it. This was one of those movies that you knew was corny but enjoyed watching anyway because it was fun. It was mostly the music that I couldn’t get out of my head I think . I will say that the underfunded music program was always a plot line that spoke to me as music/theater kid. My school had a lot of talent and kids transferred to our school just for music but we also had no money. Most of our sports teams were trash but in the time I went there they redid the gym floor and our fields yearly. They were even holding gym classes on the stage so that they wouldn’t ruin the new gym floor. I remember thinking I was a little old for this movie when it came out and I wasn’t obsessed with it but I definitely had fun watching it.
