My very first game, in any sport, was the Salt Lake Golden Eagles at the Salt Palace in the fall of 1969 in the old Western Hockey League. Then watched them move to the old CHL, and IHL. Add in the Utah Grizzlies after that and a couple of 2002 Olympic games (Canada vs Sweden the highlight), you can say I'm a little excited! I do feel sorry for the Arizona fans who deserved better ownership and outcome.
We're gonna miss the Coyotes in Arizona! These guys play their hearts out every second. I hope Salt Lake falls in love with the Coyotes players as much as we're gonna miss them! I wish them the best. MERUELO SUCKS!
Just another angle on what happened to the Golden Eagles. When Larry Miller owner of the Jazz agreed to build the Delta Center, he stated it was going to be a basketball arena, not a multi sport arena which also in his demand was once the Delta Center was opened that Salt Lake city shut down the Salt Palace and demolish it in fear that he didn't want to compete for events with the Salt Palace. He got his way and when the Salt Palace was shut down and to be demolished that left the Golden Eagles without a home. Maverick center wasn't built for some 10 years later so the Golden Eagles had no choice but to relocate.
That was a very sad segment. No journalism left to recall Ryan's fake tears when he had to leave Edmonton because he was asking for too much money? Most of the hockey viewers were not impressed by the woke social justice narrative. Yet these too are too lazy or scared to ask a single question. DT gone woke.
